  • the hair LOL

  • Damn I loved this tune! Wore it out on vinyl, ahhh, taking a ride on ye olde nostalgia train. Good stuff, thanks for sharing. I always thought these guys were under rated, they put out some really good music & Waite could really belt out solid rock, I think he was definitely at his best with these guys. Kind of like Rod Stewert being at his best with the faces. Thanks for sharing, rock in ya'll!

  • I think I miss the 70's. Possibly the last really great decade.

  • Great song. Too bad he ruined it by looking like a poof with earrings.

  • He looks exactly like my Aunt Gladys.

  • Julia Gillard ??? I cant believe she used to be a rockstar!

  • @KatieJones8729834 - She can't even rock the boat properly!!

  • I was listening to the radio today. It was a critical look at what the "corporates" have done to music. Basically, they killed it out of greed. They want the same thing over & over again. They stopped creativity and experimentation that spawns sensational tracks like 'Isnt it time'. Now whats happening is, the younger generations are buying the stuff we listened to in the 70s & 80s. 50% of all music sold is established artists. So, do you think the corporates would learn from their mistakes? NO!

  • What an AWESOME band The Babys were, and John Waite's voice is so sexy and persuasive I swear he could charm a cobra snake with it!

  • Plan B is a band that reminds me of this great era in music.

  • Love it! Reminds me of the time when Star Wars first came out. 1977 was one unbelievably great year :D

  • The Babys are really good - this is a great song. How about those girls? I'm not sure if they're part of The Babys, but they're fundamental to the success of this song.

  • @paul72kate Yes I was going to say that...reminds of the great 70's girl singer, 60's too.....Motown like.

  • @calalilygirl - Thanks for your comments. Top songs are too few these days. In the 60s new super songs were an everyday event, that's why it was so special. Cheers!

  • never seen group but always liked tune, now seeing on youtube suprised but still enjoy it. a real rock classic.

  • Without those great backup singers, the song wouldn't be what it is. They're great!! And of course John Waite dishes out "the force" of it all.........

  • Simply Beautiful..................

  • Great footage! One of my favorites!

  • John made a brilliant move to with these awesome back up soul sister singers as well, they are fantastic. and added a fluid blend of Male/Female emotion to the song.

  • Third stanza magic: " MADE UP MY MIND !!! "

  • Ahhhhh! Junior high days, wow that just takes me back.

  • Love em to death. What's John doing these days?

  • I have someone on my heart that I want 2 express this 2,just dont want 2 jump the gun. I think he feels the same way, hope he does

  • Love it... still do in 2011

  • His backup singers are superb as well

  • @victoriaindigo Actuallly, I didn't know he had 'his' very own private back-up singers. The band's back-up singers weren't too bad, for that matter. You can hear them on this track, funnily enough.

  • A gifted musician pure and simple. Incredible voice and writing capabilities. Came to Rockford, Illinois and the biker gangs threw some stuff from the front and John rightlfully told Rockford to F.O. So many good memories of playing his music on stage.

  • when was this made???

  • @spitfire413 1977 I believe, great music era

  • just listened to the R Trower version, good interpretation but for me the original just hits the buttons :) still.........R

  • Love The Babys! Brings me right back to my teens...!

  • Personally, I'd have loved to have played on both the Trower version and The Babys version, too. Trower had the balls to really change the production and I reckon he did a really great job of it. I certainly can't sit still when I listen to it. There again, I've liked Trower ever since I went to hear Procol Harum in concert just after he joined them in the late 60s. I don't think it's easy compare the two versions, though, as they are, well, as incomparable as chalk and cheese.

    MC.

    (Scotland)

  • @The1stBaby I just listened to the Trower version. Doesn't hold a candle to the orginial, in my humble opinion.

  • No, no, no... Robin Trower doesn't sing this better! Not even close! I totally agree with you "pnt1204," it should have been a number #1 hit!!!!!!!! Rock on Baby! :]

  • He looks a lot like Jethrine Bodine.

  • Listen to Robin Trower's version...awesome!

  • @karenburl Thanks for the nod to Robin Trower, awesome is right.

  • So remember cranking this out of the speakers that were as tall as me in the basement and rocking out with my friends. Simpler times for sure. The Baby's were the best! Love John Waite.

  • 2 walls of Marshalls - ROCK ON! YEAH

  • God bless the Piano

  • Such a cool song....I love it!

  • think he dug Bowie's 'Ziggy" look or what?. fackin great song tho...

  • For some odd reason this song takes me back to the wee hours of August 30th, 1997 when I've had trouble sleeping and had the radio on to my favorite station and this song was playing, I also remember they played other great songs like Styx's "Babe" & Foreigner's "Waiting For A Girl Like You" that night and it was one of the rare nights where it was worth having trouble sleeping.

  • One of the best songs from the late 70s, I personally thought the early 70s was superior to the late 70s

  • Great song, this song and "Every Time I Think Of You" are so much better than John Waite's solo hit "Missing You" IMO, I don't understand why the radio stations constantly play "Missing You" all the time yet barely play this song and "Every Time" on the radio.

  • Superb.

  • This never get's old.

  • This is "our song" for my husband & me. He even bought me the VINYL album!

  • @pristeep918 AWESOME!!!! Wanna sell it? ..LOL!!!!

  • Amazing

  • Nice suit.

  • The little piece starts so calm and easy ... then EXPLODES thru John and the Girls ... I'd like to see the 3rd stanza go for about 10 more minutes !! BAM !!!!!!

  • @raiderdanCA Me too, the 3rd stanza is the highlight of the entire song, sadly the 70s station on XM SIRIUS radio only plays about 20 seconds of the 3rd stanza right after John Waite is done singing

  • Nice eyering JOHN.......

  • Man, John Waite sure could/can sing! What range and powerful voice! An unforgettable song that ranked among the best. He was able to touch the soul, and the back-up singers are stellar. Brings back some great memories..............

  • well, 8 people dont think its time yet....

  • Man this song reminds of when I was a kid of 10 or 11 can't recall in the 70s riding my bike in summer. Cool song.

  • I've been trying to find out who sang this song and I FINALLY found out! I hear it all the time on those Soft Rock radio shows and when they said the name of the group, I wrote it down and went straight to YouTube. I've been tracking this song since 1977 and never gave up. I love it. This proves that great music is 'colorblind' as I am an African-American, Navyman.

  • "Isn't It Time" was my # 1 song during December 1977, instead of that dumb "You Light Up My Life". I wore that 45 out and will never understand how this song was never a # 1 smash hit on the Billboard charts.

  • "Isn't It Time" was my # 1 song during December 1977, instead of that dumb "You Light Up My Life".

  • Brings back good memories.

  • Man I wish these guys could just record these songs again...Hell forget about seeing eachother if they can't do it... Just record sperate parts in the studio. Everyone does it.... Too many memories flow with these tunes. The ORIGINAL line up founded by Corby is AWESOME. Wally, Tony c'mon talk to those guys... Guys do this befire it is too late... ISN'T IT TIME??

  • Love this song, but doesn't he look like Ronald McDonald?

  • @deanpp1 Yeah and also is he / she / it hetero??

  • I love John Waite as well. I'd love to find the song "Lust For Life" from his Mask of Smiles LP.

  • THIS SONG FUCKING ROCKS!!!

  • What a fantastic song. Brings back great memories. Love it still.

  • John Waite yes He still performs

  • this is great music, does anyone know if the lead singer is still performing and what is his name?

  • @TheElmergantry2 , John Waite is the lead singer, and yes, he is still performing! I am seeing him in an upscale theatre concert tomorrow night! I have always admired John Waite and The Babys, is group from the 70's!

  • I just found this in my vinyl collection!

  • My younger friends ask me all of the time, how can you listen to this kind of music? I always tell them you actually had to be there to fully understand. Back then the selection of music was thin compared to now.

  • @austintxlivemusic Dissagree with you totally . Your comment implies that back then, there was a poor selection of music?? Absolute rubbish. There was then as there is now a massive array of musical types to listen to.Besides does your comment mean that you would listen to just any thing because it was out there, and there wasn't much else to choose from??I tell you now if i dont like a song or a style of music i WONT listen to it. I LOVE THIS SONG, and and many others from that era!!

  • @tygersofpantang You can disagree all you want but I was a teen in the 70s and the podunk city I grew up in had 3 radio stations. I know because I was there and you were not. This is 70s music.

  • This is my favorite and was the first song by The Babys I ever heard-still have the 45! Hard to watch the video with their Hooker-Blue eye shadow! They should have taken a cue from their back-up singers-they look amazing! ;)

  • Great band. Along with others, I have to say the backup singers added a lot to The Babys sound.

  • Good video, probably not really "live", but better synced audio and video then some of the other videos. Boy, we wore some funky clothes back in the 70's and 80's!

  • John Waite - easily one of the most underrated singers in rock history.

  • One word.... Amazing!!!

  • What a band..!!

Backing singers, song and musicians are flawless.

    Piano playing to die for.

Just discovered this incredible band. Wanna find out more about them.

  • @justcroozing you must be kinda young but i was a mid-teen in the late 70's. pretty damn good group, if you've checked them out you already know some of theif other popular tunes. my favorite from the babys was "midnight rendevous". check out john waite solo also!!!!

  • Wow, forgot he played bass too! 80's product so I remember John Waite on his own but yet, thanks drummer/musician Dad, I am also VERY fluent in music which predates my rambling existence. :)

  • this was a number 1 hit in australia.good song.mind you, john waite's resemblance to frida, from abba,is really REALLY scary! she looked just like that in 1984.check out her videos 'shine' 'one little lie' and 'twist in the dark' and youll all see what i mean.

  • Wow - That's so good!

  • I Love This Song.

  • I saw The Babys live in Traverse City, Michigan at the Glacier Dome. It was 1978 or 79. They were supposed to open up for REO Speedwagon. The announcer said REO would not be able to perform, due to the stage being too small or something to that effect . After all the booing The Babys came out and did a great performance.

  • Is that Evan Rachel Wood?

  • This dude had serious gender confusion,,, the lipstick & hair threw me.

  • Man when John pushes his vocals into that second gear, there is no one better. Easily one of my favorite vocalists of all time- you don't just hear him sing, you "feel" it!

  • just like all of u I 2 love this song, cannot stop listening 2 it, have loved it since i was young & it gives me goose bumps everytime I listen to it. Shame that the original woman singer is with them anymore she was great with the band also.

  • Time after time, day after day..., every time I play this song (which I've done since it was released 30 years or so ago), I still get the most beautiful feelings of euphoria. This is one of the most timeless songs and bands in pop rock history. The entire band is brilliant and they helped pave the way for literally everything we listen to these days, following the likes of the Beatles, BadFinger & Led Zeppelin.

  • Graet song! Love this band! Thanks for posting this.

  • Great, great song. Wow. So awesome.

  • Love the piano in this song.

  • THIS is a great song; on my ipod.

  • great track its a shame that you never hear it played on the radio in the uk.

  • lol i thought this was a song from a new broadway musical

when i found out it was from the 70's i thought it even cooler

  • HEY THERE PEOPLE PEACE ! LISTEN AND THINK OF YOUR FIRST LOVE.

  • Seeing this makes me remember the good times of growing up. THey don't make songs like this anymore!

  • Great voice, great song, great backing singers, great memories.

  • It's amazing going through incredible songs like this what passes for music these days - unintelligible dross - and the amazing backup singers didn't feel the need to get their bits out to make themselves interesting

  • I luv u Tony !!!! It's Paige and you did great on the drums this is an awesome song it's stuck in my head now ha

  • freakin great, timeless melody

  • This is one fantastic song.

    Never bettered.

    What a voice!

  • Thank gawd for YouTube, that stuff like this can be made available for people to see. I got into The Babys retrospectively in the early 80s, after reading an article in Kerrang! - can't remember the guy's name now, but even then he was a bit out of the metallic mainstream :) - I quickly backtracked and got all five of their albums. Nearly 30 years later and I never stopped listening to them. All-time top 10 band for me.

  • Ok, fair dues.Im no musical historian just love the song!

  • JUST a great song

  • @h4rry50337 @tygersofpantang This Song Came Out At The End Of January 1978 In The UK Charts & Only Reach A Top Position Of 45 In The Charts............. Amazingly !! Lead Singer John Waite Later Had A Number 1 Song "Missing You" In September 1984 & Jonathon Cain Went On To Form Journey :D

  • @h4rry50337Jonathan Cain was not in the band when this was recorded and it was released in 1977. (USA).

  • @The1stBaby UK 78

  • @h4rry50337 OK! I give up. You'll have to forgive me for not knowing very much about this band. Feel free to give me a lesson in their history.

  • @The1stBaby >>>>>UK<<<<<< Jan 78. Wiki ......... I also think that jealousy played a significant role in his firing. In the end Corby was ‘difficult’ and Waite was ‘easy’ and record companies don’t want the ‘Heathcliffs. .................Who's Really Bothered Though !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Apart From U It Seams !

  • ABSOLUTELY LOVE this song!! Great lyrics, melody, feel, singer, and sound!! FABULOUS!!This track IS the 80s. LOVE ALL ABOUT IT!!

  • @tygersofpantang No, this track is the 70's

  • classic!

  • You know how they say that some songs are just made by a certain instrument. Well it is the keyboard playing and arrangement in this tune that gives it the melocholic, timelessness that stays with you forever. God I live this song and the memories it brings back. Corby was a genious and he put together an awesome band, It would manna from heaven if they could see fit to give it a go again!! C'mon Michael!! The orignal Babys was a band that many feared would dethrone them!! Awesome Band!! ITUNES!

  • @BotoxBlues "...timelessness that stays with you forever." Well said.

  • How the hell did they not explode. Such a great great song. They had it all. Man, I wish they would just say screw it, were going to get off our asses and go back out and blast the shit out of everyone. This is a turn it to 10 and dance your ass off in the car tune!!!!

  • Convey was a classy taste maker and heart breaker. He could ball with the best of 'em. Speaking of great talents, can someone post video of the infamous Babys on Dinah Shore? Or was it Mike Douglas? BSlash25, I'm so jealous of your 3-piece suit! Let the haters hate; you have to do your thing, sunshine. Isn't it time? At last, isn't it time?

  • ScoutC, I'm glad this poignant point was FINALLY addressed. These ladies, I'd gather, JW made sweet love to each as payment. Fitting. BTW, a little known fact, this was Burt Convey's favorite tune...Today, I wore the 3 piece affair to work that graces guitarist Bernie Baby, No replica, I made Bob Ezrin an offer he couldn't refuse. It was given to him as a gift for his arrangement of this fine song. Matched with the same 4" heeled Sha-booties JW artfully adorns, I made quite an entrance.

  • BSlash24: thanks for the kind words. It's like Bowie said, "It ain't easy," right before he paid tribute to his latest paramour. What's happened to all the great backup singers? These ladies keep the song from running hopeless adrift. Don't misunderstand me: JW can do what he wants, when he wants. He's an emotional, loving man. But with his emotions running so closely at the surface, he needs an anchor. Thank you, ladies.

  • @scoutcollins I'm glad this poignant point was FINALLY addressed. These ladies, I'd gather JW made sweet love to each as payment. Fitting. • Scout Collins, I hope the healing powers of the Babys did its trick post hast. as I write this, I too am dressed like the tender keyboardist, flowing shirt, empowered by this griping ballad. I look at you & yours as Bobbi Baby does at 2:04(please watch for this perfect moment, my gift to you), I write this standing at my computer keyboard as he does. This song is taking me to place emotionally I didn't know existed. I hope you wore only your JW red hair as you majestically made the your lady...

  • Romac53: my lady and I were in a bad place, emotionally, spiritually, psychically, sexually - you get the picture. I had an epiphany one day and decided it was time to change things. You know, mix it up. So one night, right before she came home, I lit 69 candles (after our favorite position) and dropped the needle on this dynamite tune. She walked in and, man, we both just fell about the place. It was so time. So time.

  • NativeMoon & Romac53, isn't it time, indeed! This song has seemed to take you both through the gammet of raw emotions, and left you both drained, Nothng left to give the day, you can only lie nude on your beds, like octopusses out of water. From watching Pianist Bobbi Baby tenderly seducing the audience, both male & female at 2:12, to JW's gender bender look, the video gets my "sexiest of alltime" video award. What's wrong with being sexy?

  • check out miss misery by nazareth and break it up by foriener

  • thanks for posting this..john and this band rock it out so awesome!

  • This song makes me believe im still alive

  • @jeffmorgan2112 This song makes me realize I still have a heart because it's still broken after all these years.

  • Just makes me feel so good! Had the album, then the tape, now the disc...takes me to a most awesome time & place...and you're right, nativemoon, they don't make 'em like this anymore...

  • Brilliant. Thanks for posting.

  • Brilliant.

  • The back-up singers are just Heavenly!! Love this song!!

  • @lisaluvsjoee I agree about the backup singers being heavenly, i dont remember a chorus as good as they are except for when the beatles did hello goodbye

  • @lisaluvsjoee I agree I haven't heard that kind of strirring accompanyment since the Beatles recorded Hello Goodbye. Heavenly! I would like to know more about the backup singers, they must have a history somewhere.....

  • I first came across this only about 7 years ago when I heard the Kuva version on a Fantazia album.

  • One of my all time favs in classic. Babys always put on a hell of a show. Johns voice was unmatched for the time.

  • Brilliant. The bass line is the key!

  • @BogBreather Shame it isn't actually played by one of The Babys. Still, Jack Conrad who played for the Beach Boys did a great job of it. FYI: Jack also co-wrote this track.

  • @BogBreather totally agree...smooth

  • Love this tune, brings back great memories.

  • Some of the best powerpop ever made

  • Seems like yesterday this song was out! 1977? WOW I still love it so much ♥ I'm still sitting here alone trying decide if it's time to fall in love again♥ Thanks so much for this post! ♥ tomnook111 msstevie ♥

  • talent

  • That guitar guy is like "which of those black chicks am I gonna do".

Yeah I always imagined I'd have a chorus of black chicks if I was in a band (and one redhead)... if only I was in the 70's then it might have flown.

  • Such a great song!!! And you know you can tell watching the musicians they love the 3 women singers that help make it a great song! Theres something to be said about this kind of accompany in any song!

  • anyone have the video "I'm Falling" from The Babys? it was taken down from youtube. Please post!

  • @wutang212 .....Try putting this in the YouTube search box. I think you'll find what you're looking for:

The Babys - Broken Heart promo clips (HiQ audio)

    Keep misbehavin'

    always,

    MC

  • The song is great and his look is cool for 70's.

  • I love the '70's!

  • Perfect song, perfect background vocals, what's with the guy playing guitar when there is no guitar in this song? And he is so red...9 out of 10

  • @squat666 LOL!

  • What beautiful music was made in the 70's. Nothing is this happy or well produced. Today's music is harsh, ugly and grating this stuff made you feel good.

  • Totally timeless classic.....

  • Awsome song! These guys didn't get the credit/respect or fame due to them. Should have went alot further than they did! C'mon guys, how bout a reunion???!!

  • oooooohhh - the first record i ever got was the baby's -- hehe - getting old

  • Makes me feel like a 13 year old again. Uber crush on all of these guys.

  • Lovely.

  • extraño proceso de mariconización que atravesó este talento...

  • Awesome damn song...

  • The chicks were called "The Babettes".

  • ive seen the babys open up for journey back early 80;s proly 3 or 4 times were great live

  • Who are the chicks

  • A classic song by a class act group across the pond.I never got the chance to see The Babys but believe me I know all their songs by heart. This video gives me goosebumps.Outstanding preformance.

  • Definitely need Marshall stacks for this one! ROFL!

  • some people can get away with that look ...John wasn't one of them. That look on him is just....stupid. good song though.

  • @supersport22 He seems to style himself after WWE's Celtic Warrior, Sheamus.
