  • thanks very helpfoull!!

  • i sharpen mine with my cats nail 'trimmer

  • i keep all my knives scary sharp i might post a VR on my sharpening techniques

  • "Razor sharp cutting is not really what a pocket knife is for"

Seriously? Are you fucking stupid? Judging by your inability to distinguish between the intended use of knives (cutting) and prybars (digging out nails or screws), I'm going to assume yes.

  • About how much oil do you need, looked about a drop there?

  • "a pocket knife doesn't need to shave somebody"

  • Although informative, I'm pretty sure this man is a serial killer!

  • @moosedrummer1 LMAO i lol'd

  • A: I want my pocket knife razor sharp, after all its for cutting. B: I don't use my knife to pry out nails or dig out screws, after all its for cutting. C: I do cut paper as a test to make sure my knife is sharp, after all its for cutting. C: your an assclown. :)

  • A pocketknife for digging out nails or screws? Really? I think I might try a screwdriver or a claw hammer first.

  • If worried about adhesive, wouldn't it be better to use the goo-gone before the stone? And isn't it always better to use naphtha lighter fluid instead of goo-gone?

  • @BlackAngusYoung Cleaning before using your stone would be best. I prefer Goo-Gone, but naptha, or many other solvents could be used.

  • @BlackAngusYoung I guess I dislike Goo-Gone just because I find it seems to leave an oily residue, but I guess on a knife blade that wouldn't matter.

  • Stop giving him a hard time assholes. Everyone has a right to their own opinion. I thought the video was really informative, I'll remember it the next time i need to sharpen my blade.

  • I have a knife that has the main Cut on one side with just a really small edge on the other. Does that change how it should be sharpened?

  • @Imaslipper Yes - you should follow the existing pattern/blade angles, if you're pleased with the knife's performance. You could also balance the two sides for a different cut.

  • Is anyone else a little suspissious about not seeing this guys hands or face... He could be a serial killer...

  • Actually i disagree, a sharp knife is safer, mainly because if it is dull you will use more force, therefore more chances for the knife to slip and cut you.Good video though.

  • D bag cutting paper is a simple test... what a f@gg@t

  • Jeffrey Dahmer instruction video?

  • I need a really sharp knife for cutting a bitch up

  • your voice is boring

  • He's flipping us off haha jk

  • nice music :D

  • Nice video

  • THUMBS UP FOR 3 AND ONE OIL NOT THIS VID

  • your a cheap ass hole

  • i have a linder throwing knife and its getting really dirty and the sharp end is a bit broken or something a bit and how to fix i really <3 the knife

  • Which side of the stone do I use ? And With this method would I take off the paint finish of my blade ?

  • but what if i WANT my pocket knife to be for razor sharp cutting? ',:|

  • can i use a piece of the train tracks its heavy metal im 11

  • "I don't need to hold a piece of paper up and cut it because I don't use my pocket knife for holding up and cutting pieces of paper."

    haha....

  • I've never ever had a pocket knife I can't shave with.

  • When u said Japanese soap stone i thought it was what Japanese people use to bath with... LOL

  • Nice video, my trick for sharpening knives is not to let them get dull, what i mean is if a razor sharp knife gets a hair duller i will strop it with a leather belt. the reason i do this is because i am no good at sharpening really dull knives.. you are right that a knife doesnt have to be able to shave someone but it is much safer and easyer if it is scary sharp..

    Tom M..

  • fuck me, if you heat up the blade, id like to see you try with sharpening stones, but if you did, it wouldnt cause it to bend, you would just ruin the temper, and it wouldnt hold an edge

  • what are you on about, you dont want a sharp knife, a sharp knife is a safe knife. you dont have the authority on sharpening to do a tutorial video on it.

  • Great vid. I love how you don't comment back to the people who just FEEL the need to grill you on leaving out one TINY little detail or not doing something like "shaving a sharp pocket knife." haha you obviously know what you're doing great vid once again

  • i seen different methods, but what do you think of the heel to tip method? i use that method and it works welll

  • @mobsterbillyjoe That's fine - it's personal preference.

  • Hey I bought a Diamond Shaperner by EZE LAP.. It says on the instructions no water needed.... Should I still use water?? Thanks for the vid .

  • Hey I bought a Diamond Shaperner by EZE LAP.. It says on the instructions no water needed.... Should I still use water??

  • my knife has brun marks on it how will i get the off

  • lol jk . . .what if it is not a stanly steel one

  • hay i need my knife to cut someone :P

  • @combatpat in that case you need a very sharp blade since the human skin is very tensile and strong and almost rip-proof. but hey do you really need to kill someone? you might get a death penalty for murder or life in jail both of which are not favorable

  • i love that knife. what kind is it??

  • Hi I have a double bezel knife, is this difficult to sharpen?

  • @pooh1234567890 Double bevel as in both sides of the edge are sharpened. If so no more difficult to sharpen than a chisel ground knife. If you mean it has one bevel that has another that actually terminates at the edge you only sharpen the edge bevel.

  • @75SilentWarrior Yeah I meant it has one bevel that has another on the cutting edge. It is double sided as well. Thanks for your help.

  • It seems to me that you dont like sharp knives or you cant get it razor sharp . razor sharp knives make all your cutting jobs very easy and the 3 and 1 oil is some of the worst stuff ive ever used it drips off and doesnt work try using ballistiol

  • Utility knives are for when you need a sharp and disposable blade, for example, digging out nails or screws...

Pocket knives are for: Camping, cooking, shaving, pruning, defense, and the convenience of having a fine cutting tool.

  • well still i still wanted to see how sharp it was!

  • good video but i have a question. My throwing knifes have dirt, zap, and tree bark on it and i was wondering how i can clean get that off. I'm concered about filing to much and ruining the wait distribution.

  • @Striker51z Use ultra-fine steel wool (4/0 - 8/0) to polish the metal with minimal weight loss. Also use either Goo-Gone or WD-40 to remove buildup. GooGone will remove tree residue and WD-40 helps remove rust and produce a nice, shiny finish.

  • @kwikshowmehow2

    Thanks, i really appriciate it.

  • @kwikshowmehow2

Also, my throwing knife is a fixed blade and i was wondering how do i apply the WD40, do i put it in a rag and rub the knife with it? Also, how would the steel wool help clean the knife(note I just started throwing knives so i don't need it sharp yet)?

  • @Striker51z kerosene will clean those throwing knifes up very nice...It's what I use

  • @Greenmarine6

yeah but unless im throwing at pine then all i need is water and a rag.

  • @Striker51z Wet-Dry sandpaper works great

  • instead of starting from the tip of the blade can we start at the bottom of the blade in our blade slide

  • @TheUprisingNinja Of course you can - it's a matter of preference and habit. It's all about maintaining the proper angle and not allowing heat to build up. Which end you start on is up to you. Good luck!

  • @kwikshowmehow2 hey how could i polish my stainless steel handle its pretty dirty with very fine scratches filled with dirt, i washed it with a wash cloth (simple method) is there an easy way to polish it

  • @TheUprisingNinja dont trust this twat, he doesnt really know anything.

  • can I use olive oil to clean my knife blade? it has a little bit of rust and dirt.

  • @krauser212 You CAN use olive oil, but it would not be my first choice. Use WD40 and 400 or 800 grit steel wool – it will remove the rust AND polish the blade.

  • My leather strop on the green compound side is like, 7000 grit.

  • YOUR VOICE ANNOYS ME

  • free-hand sharpening is not that easy... I bought a Lansky sharpening set that assists with the angle. But I think some day I'll learn the free-hand stuff.

  • @Schmidt54 That is a great system! I have one myself and still use it sometimes. Freehand takes time and patience.

  • Those razor knives fall into the category of "not to sharp" on the ones I've bought and used. My pocket knife was sharper and held its edge longer. The only advantage of the razor knives is the very thin blades, which allows them to cut binding materials easier.

  • lolol at the Charlie Brown Music

  • I think you'll find most of the glue is now on the diamond stone.

  • @gamesbok Actually, the stone remains clean since it's not smooth and also wet - the water keeps the material in suspension. I do wish I'd shown how to clean the stone, since it's different than natural stones.

  • he flips you off at 3:00

  • @cheatengine54 Oops! Sorry...

  • For the thing at 1:22 , I have the same thing. You dont need pliers to break it. The clip at the top comes off and theres a slit at the top of the of the clip that you use to break it

  • GOO GONE IS AMAZING

  • A razor sharp pocket knife is a safe knife

  • why wouldnt u run it over a leather strap a few times to finish it?

  • Strop's need compound to work and most people don't know how easy they are to make and use.

  • what.... a hunting knife should be pretty sharp so i am disagreing with you there but still a great video. i keep my hunting knife sharp because it dulls ALOT.

  • Yes, hunting knives would be kept sharper than a pocketknife. So would a fishing knife.

  • Nice video but i ROFL'd when you said "BUBU"

  • sweet video!!!

  • I don't understand your apparent dislike of shaving sharp pocket knives. The knife isn't going to be used for shaving hair, nor will it be used to slice paper cleanly. However, those are simply tests people use as a benchmark. There's absolutely not a single benefit of having a less sharp blade. A sharper blade will perform cutting tasks easier, faster, and for a longer period of time.

  • @Pabes1 I agree but I also think that he knows how to sharpen knives properly and simply doesn't need to test them with paper to see if they cut.

  • @policeman1313 Exactly I guarantee you that guy is like 17 or 20 something who doesn't "really" know what he's talking about. Obviously the guy in the vid sounds like he's been doing this for years

  • @tidus5ffx for sure. He says he had one of his tools (the stone?) for 15 years.

  • your not suppose to use water or any kind of luibricant with a diamond stone.

  • you can use water but dry is recommended

  • idk what diamond stones you buy but any DMT stone i have bought in the past instructs you to use water to prevent the abrasive from filling.

  • What grit is your stone?

  • It's a diamond stone: a surface covered with diamond pieces. I'd estimate the grit equivalent would be about 700. The Japanese soapstone I show on the video is a 1,000.

  • will goo gone take off rust

  • not really, no. Use WD-40 and fine steel wool such as 0000 or better. That will qickly remove the rust and polish the metal.

  • oh okay thanks i have a really old knife

  • hey are you left handed? I think you are, I am.

  • I used 3 in 1 oil on my norton oil stone

  • damn i love the sound of knife grinding on stone

  • "b/c I dont use my pocketknife for holding pieces of paper up in the air and cutting them" ... hahah ... too true.

    Great video, 5/5.

  • i love te charlie brown theme

  • charlie brown...?

  • very helpful

  • very nicely done. thanks for the tips.
