  • I'm a Spaniard not a Indian. Gracias! Ovalle

  • people are proud to be indigenous, people are proud to be black and what's wrong with being white and proud....

  • latino isn't a race, there are indigenous people in latinamerica, black people, white people, asian people and mixed people(mestizo)

  • Africa doesn't always mean black. Africa is a continent. Not all Africans are black.

  • I am Native-American...Aztec (Mexica)!

  • Good video Carlos!

  • he looks native american..... Hispanic/latino is just a stupid term coined in the US to classify mexicans...... in a way is offensive, Spain colonized and brutalized Mexico, puerto rico's tainos and so on.... Spain enslaved them, killed them and destroyed vast parts of their culture.

Years later in the US they try to tell these colonized brutalized people they are hispanics???? think about it, you're calling them by the name of the people who pretty much screwed them up!!!

  • @TheYaom I agree.

  • i love this guy. my mom is Afro cuban and malian (Tuareg), not till now i alway say that am African of Malian and nubian heritage. Thanks for this very nice video

  • Wow... thanks for sharing :)

  • most of my ancestors are African American,Native American, and Anglo.

  • You are speaking the truth! Subbed

  • the true spanish are celtis thanks......... pagan pride

  • the natives and and indians who was here before the edomites camed and made genocide ....were the hebrew israelites its evidence read 2nd esdras cpt 13-40-40 before america it was called the land of asareth.....look up luis de torres chistophers columbuses hebrew interpreter ....the native wor fringes it was a law for us to where fringes to remember the covenant.....esau the so called white man is our arch enemy and the wicked he was made for wickedness he will be dishonered by god of jacob

  • why the so called white man lies because the natives and indians and negroes are the 12 tribes of israel.................white man hides his true nationality to he is esau ........he not white his ass red as hell...........his ass will go into slavery put bac n order ......im racist yes fuk all so called white man and woman .......arabs africans and chinese .........my ppl only god and christ is racist too........deut. 7.6/ 2nd edreas 6-56

  • carlos not all latin americans or hispanics are in digenous some are just white most native americans dont say they are not laino or hispanic mess

  • My great grandparents on my moms side are spanish anglos from spain..emigrated to Mexico...My grandfather on moms side is native american but do not know which group.....

I am brown and hispanic and native American... I call myself TEXAN since my family has lived in Texas for over 100 years...

I dont identify with with being called Mexican since my family is largely from Texas and Mexico is very different society than Texas...

  • NATIVE PRIDE 4 LIFE.....

  • Many of you are missing his point about knowing your history and not adhering to white supremacy views propagated by the Spanish.

  • The jews that the spanish catholics brought to the americas continued being victims of the spanish persection and inquisition, many jews here were also caught practicing their jew religion and were burned to death, this is why many jews would settle in certain places of latin america to avoid the caos that was going on, many even intermingled and mixed with the indigenous people to hide their identity as much as possible, this is part of a history that was never told in mainstream history

  • The spanish roman catholics in spain gave the jews and the moors the option to leave spain, convert or die, and many were burned at the stake, others left and others converted, but many jews that had converted were still practicing their religion in secret and the minute they were caught they were put in prison and those who were put in prison were forced to be taken in ships to the new world and once they got to the americas, the spanish catholics continued the inquisition here in the americas

  • Greetings Carlos, Great video, geneological DNA is in the trend, and I believe all spanish speaking people should get their blood tested and discover who they really are,I discovered many things that arent even written in mainstream history, for example many of the WHITE SKINNED so called "latinos" were taught to believe that they come from spanish roman descent when in reality they dont, like in my case,I got tested and I am a white skinned spanish speaker that comes from SEPHARDIC JEW background

  • I believe that this video is true. We must except who we are I am mixed and proud to sat I am Mexican with lots of Spanish descendant also Nicaraguan I don't know much of my Nicaraguan culture due to a parent divorce as a baby but I do know that growing up in America with such racism is difficult. But we people do need to find a way with stopping it. I also found out that I have lots of Mayan and Aztec blood in me!

  • ¿porque no lo subtitulas o haces el mismo video hablando español?

  • that could of happened to make perhaps the oppressed indiginous group in Mexico prosper. One cannot have the right to question other people ways of thinking without questioning our own. Who is to say that one is white and the other is not, by whose standards. If a Mexican is brown and looks like she might have dominant indiginous features, but considers herself white, who are we to question that. Mexican is not a race it is a nationality, of different ethnicities. Mexicans united but diverse.

  • Mexicans might have perhaps no indiginous blood but perhaps other ethnicity blood. For instance before Spaniards came over they themselves were a mix group. If you know the arabics had occupied spain before the reconquista of Espana. They were brown/tan, but the people of the middeterranean(southern europe) were darker than the their northern european counterparts. So Carlos you might not have indiginous blood but may North African blood or Middle Eastern. One could argue to theory to you.

  • Wonderful video! I am beyond happy that there are people like you out there who know their roots, claim them with dignity, and have a respect for people of other backgrounds and cultures.

  • Thank you for making this video. I just found out some surprising information from my genetic dna test.

  • keep teaching my brother

  • actually some of the stuff he said didn't make any sense at all, I'm Cuban but fully European descendant. I'm a 100% White Cuban. I don't have black or brown color on me neither in my family, not all Hispanics are brown or black skin color... something he said didn't make sense.

  • @Qbano21

hispanic = french, spanish, portuguese, italian and spanish... that's hispanic... identity crisis. lol

  • He has some good points. I am all for studying our own rootsoo t... and that includes our European ancestry (I'm speaking as a Mexican-American).

It is very idiotic to use the word Hispanic for everyone from Latin American countries... Latino maybe makes a bit more sense, but still needs clarification as most don't know much about what these words mean. We might as well use "Anglo" for evryone from the UK, US, Australia, etc.. even though there are African, Asian, European, ETC.

  • dont you hate it when ppl say"you Spanish right" people really think that if you speak Spanish therefore you are spanish.do ppl not see the difference between geroge lopez and cameron diaz and sammy sosa. i mean its a language not a race. thats like if i asked a black american "you English right"

  • Personally, I think it is "latin Americans" (from mexico to chile) that have the biggest problem in "honoring" brown and black people. We( latinos) are extremely racist against one another. The lighter the "hispanic" the worse he treats others and becomes obssesed with "whiteness", even if he is mestizo. I find Anglos to be more welcoming of dark skinned people than we are( in most cases).

  • @cuzcatlan36 BTW why do u call yourselves latin americans.. Italians are latin.. it was the original language of the first unified italy during the roman empire.. and the grandfather language of our modern tongue.. we are the latins

  • @cuzcatlan36 "The lighter the "hispanic" the worse he treats others and becomes obssesed with "whiteness", even if he is mestizo"

You're clearly a Indigenous Latin American saying this, because a lot of Caucasian Latin Americans also face discrimination from darker skinned Indigenous Latin Americans. Trust me it goes both ways, and I agree it's wrong and should stop.

  • I agree with almost everything you said except the part about the Africans been native to the Americas. Don't get me wrong they were done wrong in history but they were just victims. They are native to Africa not here....

  • @WSubXeroW The Olmecs were african.

  • @LonesomePaleRider You wish they were, but no, they were native.

  • @LonesomePaleRider lol and Santa Claws was black too. anything else you wanna claim?

  • @WSubXeroW I agree. Alot of black people try to say Almecs, Mexicans and Indigenous people are African. I get offended, when they were brought and i was always here!

  • @WSubXeroW the olmecs are native to the americas

  • Hola Carlos this is Miguel please check out my latest video it deals with what you are talking about here. It is called,

"Latinos and Afro Latinos - The Africans and The Indians". Please comment and let me know how you think about it. It is rated R for strong language as I got very passionate about this video. Gracias, Miguel!

  • this is a deal of linguistics though. There are many words that today mean something completely different from what they used to mean many years ago. Also, people identify themselves in various ways, like where they were raised and grew up, so it is not a matter of only our ancestors. In the end, all of the modern human species ancestors come from Africa anyways, but that doesn't mean that we are all Africans.

  • Great video and great message. My dad says that we have Wixarika blood.

  • good video !!! actleast mr. carlos knows who he really is keep do a great job carlos...

its sad to see some mexicans and native indians that really dont knw who their are...

  • i concur

  • very good video, im not what's considered "hispanic" or "latino", im problably considered caucasion, but i do have native american ancestry that im trying to reasearch, but its hard to find because no one wants to talk about it, or dosent know about it. i think people should look into who they are, i must say i do have 2 "latino" friendsand sometimes, im not sure what to call someone really, because its seems very personal. i've always wondered how "hispanics' feel about that term.

  • @MsSMSgirl "im problably considered caucasion, but i do have native american ancestry"

If you have native american ancestry then you are not caucasian, but native american or mestizo (mixed)

You are caucasian only if ALL your ancestry is caucasian, otherwise you are not caucasian. Example: Blake Griffin is no caucasian, but mulatto.(black &white)

  • I understand that places like Bolivia, Peru, Mexico, etc. are mostly 80%-100% Native America, but I don't undestand why videos like these make it look like changing our entire lives to say we're native or we're black or we're white or just plain old multicultural would be soo easy. It's not. Wouldn't our entire way of life and culture have to change for our new identity to have meaning?

  • His accent.

  • @irishia101 Is all mine baby.

  • Native Americans lived in Tipi's.

  • Carlos thank you so much for your posts, I have learned much. I am an African American man who loves the cultrure of the people in South and Central America, specifically the African decendents. Again thank you for your posts. I love what you are doing. Please keep shining the light.

  • @CarlosDCblog You are so right. Puerto Rican people were orginally Taino Native americans. The Spaniards conquered PR and brung black slaves with them. The British and French did that to Jamaica and Haiti and Africa. Which is why we all look so different and why we are able to speak European languages. We need to take back what is ours.

  • Well Said :) this is why most people deny their racial heritage because we don't understand our heritage :/ i'm a black person of indigenous roots YEAH!!

  • @CarlosDCblog Thank you! :) I'm tired of people flaunting around arrogantly talking about "Viva La Raza" or "Latino Pride" mess. Yes, people should know what they really are.

  • @synclair0718 Thank you too.

  • @synclair0718 thatz what La Raza means imperialized Native americans who are proud to be brown, just cause we speak spanish doesnt mean thats our race its the language....the race in majority are mestizos (Native american and Spanish)

  • thats great that your proud of your indigineous blood so am i :)

  • THANK YOU!!!

  • Great video

  • ok, according to my mom, our family has spanish, french, chinese and italian ancestry, yet i was born in mexico. does that mean im mestizo? cus my mom keeps saying that we are. i mean, i never met any family members that are natives or that speak anything other than spanish. how am i suppose to know if i have native background if i don't know any family member that claims it? by the way hispanic and latin are just dumb, i prefer mexican lol makes life easier.

  • Native of American DNA is not descended from Asians or Africans. Native of American are not of African descendants. Native DNA only shows one ancestry group in North America, and South America only.

  • Carlos would you prefer the term, "Latino" Instead of Hispanic? or do you have a keyword that can be easy to use? I think that now days people just want something easy to say and remember not personally but in general

  • Thanks buddy! I have Taino (Arawak Indian) ancestry and hate the term hispanic..

  • @angelmfo i thought columbus/spain wiped out the taino?

  • Hell yeah!!! You built a shitty pyramid, lived in Straw tents and catched buffalos around all day!!! Then got your ass kicked and women fucked by the Spanish!!!! Now we carry swine flu and can clean your toilet for $5!!!! Be very proud!

  • @freethrow7792 it wasnt a shitty pyramid, there were many tocallis(pyramids) that were much bigger then europe.we had citys bigger then all the citys in europe.europes were shitty my friend.our women were RAPED by the europeans.swine flu started in california and canada,in american/mexican owned corporations.finnaly,we clean your toilets because we are poor because white supremacy controls wealth.because we dont have any rights to this continent(indigenous continent)natural rescources.educate

  • Spanish people can only be from Spain Europe we are white...retarded wetback dont slander the Spanish nationality...the non whites are the renegade indians from mexico etc

  • Good job. I'm Boricua. 50% European,30% African and 20% Native American.

  • @Domingo12754 damn what a mix bro.............

  • @Domingo12754 You took a DNA admixture test? Just wondering.

  • damn how do you know that

  • Totally agree with you, Carlos.

  • love this

  • @classydivabitch GOD GAVE US THIS COUNTRY...ALL OF IT! VIVA MEXICO! VIVA LA RAZA! VIVA AZTLAN!

  • @CarlosDCblog I am of mixed blood. I am Peruvian. I am mostly of spaniard descent with the rest being quechua-inca. I appreciate and value both ancestries and am not resentful of the spaniards or of white people. Either way i consider myself a person of non-white extraction. You seem to show resentment towards whites. You are Peruvian too right? You know that european descent and the mix with europeans is also quite prevalent in Peru as well.

  • yes i agree with you carlos... I am south american. my race is mix w/ African, East Indian, Native Indian and Chinese...

  • @CarlosDCblog I WANNA congratulate you for pointing out the fact that "latinos" are Native americans and African descendant. I think you are a bit naive when you say this country is Euro centric.. this country is NARCISSISTIC! AMERICANS are Racially european but not Ethnically european! I think that its a Travesty! the fact that Columbus, Cortez and the Spanish get the blame for the demise of native people. The Usa is the only nation that Killed the Natives! and Put them in REservations!

  • @coupleofbeers31 Yes of course we can't generalize. But ignoring that the majority of us ARE of an indigenous/African bloodline is the same racist crap practiced by the immigrant criollo colonizers. If you are lighter skinned and don't identify then at least become conscious of the reality surrounding us.

  • This is a great video!

  • at the beginning of the video it says "We are Native Americans and African descendants" I have a question: who is "we"??

  • @lookagain77 I'm referring of course to the people who like myself, have indigenous roots from the continents today called America and Africa.

  • @CarlosDCblog I see, that makes sense as long you're not including people who have European roots as well, which you're not doing, correct? You're only speaking of those devoid of ANY European ancestry, correct?

  • I am mostly native american from central american, but I would rather be 100% native.

  • Some of us african and american indians but not all o us...Im Cuban but my ancestry is from the Canary Island, jewish and chinese...

  • exacly peruvian a mix you choose my race.

  • I consider myself latin american. That is where I came from. I know I might have african, native american or European ancestory in me but c'mon i'm not going to mention all those things. it's a waste of time.

I don't consider myself these colors black/ white because it's stupid as hell to me. Might as well start using red/ yellow as races since there's alot of native americans/ asians..

  • same here i have native, asian ,mayan, and african american

  • demonstrate. Look up Noble Drew Ali Carlos. He had a Temple in Cuba and Venezuela.

  • I am an American of Mexican and German descent. Every now and then some stupid white person comes up to me, and askes me "What nationality are you?" I say, "American. Why, what nationality are you?" And then they don't speak to me after that.

  • @Adobe150 nothing wrong with having a racial and cultueral idenity i am foe exsample very proud of my italian, swedish and jewish roots and second im american having pride in your people is a very great thing to do for your self

  • Speak for yourself! You have no right to speak for anyone but yourself!

  • I'm just Peruvian PERIOD. I have Spanish, Asian and Inca blood. I really don't know what else I can name myself.

Why not just call yourself from where are you from?

  • @sHiNsAiKo I do...however, the Spanish and mestizos came up with those names and divisions.

  • Deeep!

  • televisa , tv azteca and tv commercials are washing mexico's people's brains

  • Agreed, Johnny. I have been saying this for years.

  • But all we are saying is that we need to look beyond the word and realize that this term Hispanic and Latino are really inaccurate terms to be used as races and racial groups in the U.S. !

If Hispanic/Latino is not even a race, then why do we continue to give it a racialized value in society and media ? it is wrong !

And if so, why don't we make West Indians/Caribbeans and Arabs seperate races ! It is just wrong !

  • Why did Carlos say that Africans slaves were immigrants to Latin america ! He kind of said that afros were an immigrant heritage !

And regarding Hispania it refers to Spain mainly !

Lusitania refers to Portugal actually !

And the population of people of African descent in Latin America is well over more than 200 million Carlos !!!! not 150 million as you have said !

  • Hispania was the Roman province that included what today is Spain and Portugal. Thanks for the additional comment.

  • @hornybodhisattva What happened to Latinos have European? You said Native American and African. Most Latinos are part European. And some Latin American countries have European majorities such as Argentina and Uruguay.

  • @DimmuBorgir007 con't The current economic state they are in did not just happen out of the blue, think about that.

  • @hornybodhisattva Really? What about the yavapai, yaqui, etc? Go read a book. USA didnt massacre aztecs. The Spanish were conquistador, dumbass. God, you people are so full of yourself, youll tell yourself lies to make yourself feel better. Pathetic. Face the truth.

  • Well said!

  • ahhh your spanish slave masters are pleased!!!!!!!!!1

  • In the US the term Hispanic is used as a linguistic label referring to anyone from a Spanish speaking culture. Only ignorant people refer to as a race. It is arbitrary and unnecessary, but what I find more disturbing is the use of the word "spanish" to refer to those with Latin American heritage. Spanish people live in Spain. We need to start correcting this bit of cultural ignorance. It is a complete slap in the face of the African and indigneous influences that are a vital part of the culture.

  • Bravo!!!

Thank you for posting this video. I love my Spanish-speaking sisters & brothers. However, I am troubled by their consumption of crema blanqueadora and their identity solely as Spanish; especially when their skin tone is darker & hair texture more "wooly" than mine. The history of the Americas...before it was the Americas...is so rich, beautiful & far more advanced than Europe's. I would love to see the day that Indigenous people return to the wisdom of their ancestors

  • I see more of a problem in Latinos mistakenly calling themselves Spanish rather than Hispanic. In the U.S. Hispanic is used as a linguistic label, just like francophone and anglophone.

  • Hurray Carlos Tell the Truth Brother.....:)

  • in guatemala and southern mexico yucatan chiapas the non indians call themselves latino or ladino since the1700's mestizos might share some or a lot of native things borrowed or intergrated but not that doesnt make them native american so mestizos cant deny thier european heritage just inthe promotion of the spanish language and just look at the novelas tell me if those people are native or the mexican beuty pageants but i do thank you for sypathying for the latin american native american cause

  • your so intelligent

  • I agree with you one thousand percent! But I don't think it is only the U.S. govt. that promotes this practice. I think it is so great that there are natives that still speak their native language after hundreds of years of imperialism, genocide, and racism. Thank you so much for this video. I wish the young so-called Latinos in the U.S. would hear this. Chicano/Latino studies really glaze over Native and African issues. So I choose to educate myself.

  • Thank you for this! I have been saying this for a long time!

  • alot a people like 2 tell oh u spanish and right away i respond no i'm not spanish I SPEAK SPANISH. I'M PROUD 2 B A PANAMENIAN AND I REALLY PROUD THAT I'M BLACK SKIN.

  • are you descended from the jamaicans that came to panama to build the canal

  • Oh tu eres un afro latina panamena ! that is cool !

  • @chsn09 Hey Chad, I was just in guayaquil, ecuador, 2 weeks ago.

  • I agree!!!!

    RIGHT ON :)

  • seekingjustthefacts, Everybody believe that Africa is the motherland but Africa was once part of the Middle East and Jerusalam is part of Africa before the flood. FACT:Galatians 4:26(Apocrypha) "But Jerusalam which is above is free, which is the mother of us ALL".

  • Saludos hermano. EXCELLENTE. I have been saying this for years!!

  • smart, smart, smart, smart, smart, smart, smart, smart, man. I look like the king of spades, but I know I have hispanic (south american) ancestors

  • i think you missed the message. hispanic doesnt equal south american..

  • UniqueThaPoet : No the word Hispanic came from Spain.

  • no he's talking about how it came in use in the u.s. he's right

  • You my brother are God sent. When Blacks people speak about our shared blood and history we get the evil eye. It was white Men and Women who divided our people. We out number them but they keep on playing us apart. Keep it up.

  • I am black girl, 16 years old and completely well aware of Afro latinos sharing blood and history. I infact know so much research on this and plan on fighting for discriminated Latinos.

  • Keep it up my sister

  • first you should stop calling theme afro-latinos.. the point is latino is a false term imposed on a real race and culture by the spainards.

  • Yes you are right ! Afro latinos have been discriminated for too long and have a delimma here in the U.S.

I have studied them too !

  • I am right with you manita :)

  • Afro latinos are struggling and we as American blacks need to welcome them with bear arms ! We can't deny them ! They are in fact more "blacker" and more African and Africanized then us Black Americans. We need to rexamine what black means in the U.S. and even in a global context !

  • Good video. I think the Filipinos should see this video, since they all claim to be Spaniard......

  • tell it tell it :) GREAT JOB!!! smart man there

  • Comment removed

  • In the U.S. census more than 80 years ago there was no such thing as "latino" or even "asian". Don't just stop at what is called "native American"...go deeper and you will find that you-we are all just variations of Africans. Everyone wants to be anything but who they are...I noticed you made your final proclamation of "Indian" or Native American.... Do you deny still your African roots. You can be what you want to be but as for me I recognize and PRAISE my true roots the origins of ALL life!

  • They did the same thing to my Creole people and to the Black Indians in Mississippi....I know how you feel. I completely understand.

  • Creole = Criollo, Criollo means, "a European born in the Americas"

  • I am very tired about hearing of Spanish domination. Following this thoughts I would reivindicate our celticiberian roots and pagan roots in Castilla, And I would start acusing French, Romans, Germans, Almoravides and more and more...to conquer the Península. For God´s sake, enough is enough. Learn history, why cannot you read about the history of the USA?

and I do not approve war, exploitation or or any kind.

  • Thank you Hermano.

  • and for the record: Denying Spanish influence in the americas will be a sin. This is what this video is addressing. As I have mentioned before. Typical mexicano who has obtained his generic Ideas and thoughts by associating himself to groups of people who believes that this is stil mexico. Look, I'm latino and I'm proud of my heritage, but this asshole here talking none sense is full of shit...........

  • What did your ancestors call themselves before 1492 when Columbus sailed the ocean blue? Certainly they did not call themselves hispanic(his panic) or latino did they?

  • SO, let me state the following "you are telling me that since my ancestor were natives" that makes me a WHAT???? Didn't the spanish mixed with the natives as well? DON'T WE all come from natives and spanish blood? except the "TRUE INDEGINAS" WHO have preserve their custom until this moment in time. However "I'm not true indigina" I'm a mestizo...........how difficult is that to understand.? so explain this to me? why is it, that with in my family we have very light skin cousin, brothers etc ?

  • albinism occurs in every "race". But don't stop at the spanish...keep going all the way until you get to the mother land ;-)

  • Albinism: jajajaj thats a good one. I will keep that in mind. jajajajajaj jajajajaj

  • great comment on defending Mestizo. and some of your lighter skin family members are probably Castizo. But be advised that many of us prefer to honor our Indigenous Native Background more than our European background. Also be advised that there are many Indigenous peoples in Latin America that have not mixed and continue to keep most of their customs and dialects.

  • The only one full of shit here is you. If you had turned out darker and more Native looking, what would your social position have been before 1910? Hmm? Care to elaborate on Hispanicism before then? And Latino? So you're saying that you are a descendant of the Latin tribes of Italy?

  • My point is that "Hispanic" is a term given only to describe groups of people from latin america, who speak "Castellano or Spanish" . however you wish to categorized it. "either way I don't give a shit" since: MY PRIDE DOES NOT PUT FOOD IN THE TABLE". except that the asshole who is talking none sense in this video: is the typical mexicano............who lives in the usa, works in the usa, has the freedom to do what ever he pleas, has gone to school in the usa, and still NOT CONTENT. jajajja

  • There are lots of ppl in Mezo, Carribean, Central, S America that go to universities too! Books arent just in english! Just bc ppl have a formal education does not make them an expert. There r ppl that have dropped outta school n know more about my culture n language than we do! This is wisdom from the Indians, many of which are poor n not privileged like the educated Indian. We just put their message to a wider audience.

  • i like this u cool in my book man

  • ONE MORE THING: as far as blacks......................I can't speak about them, because I'm not black neither I have black ancestry on me......... TRUST ME :0).............however what I do have is NATIVE AND ESPANISH BLOOD RUNING THROUGH MY VEINS..........stop being stupid.....I tell you what....maybe you should go back to mexico and preach your PRIDE TO YOUR RAZA....das verguenza carlos. enserio .....VERGUENZA.......

  • I'M SORRY BUT I HAVE TO LAUGH WATCHING THIS PERSON TALK ABOUT HOW THE "USA GOVERMENT IS TRYING TO MAKE US LATINOS DO THIS AND THAT ETC ETC ETC"...........................look CarlosDCblog..............................stop being a FUCKING RIDICULE OK. EVERY LATIN AMERICAN IN THIS CONTINENT WAS FORGE BY TWO ETHNIC GROUPS: ESPANOLES AND NATIVES = MESTIZOS. end of the story. Yea! if you wish to debate your BULL-SHIT IDEAS BRING IT. besides I know that you should be speaking for yourself. only.

  • First off, y are u YELLING? Whats ur beef is w this vlog? U dont like how he doesnt mention white ppl as part of "latinos?" Or about African mixture among these peoples? U must know that "race" is a myth, but culture is not. The message i get from this is that we need to acknowledge the CULTURE of r Amerindian and African roots bc spanish culture has devastated r ppls pride in their indigenous roots. If u call urself "mestizo" then practice both cultures. Speak ur native language 2!

  • Look: the issue her is that SPANISH culture. was the corner of a group of people who are NOW called Latin American. So I we just going to put aside more 400 years of spanish influence in the americas???????? how stupid is that. As far as black, whites, etc etc. "THATS NOT MY CONCERN"...............I'M MORE CONCERN THAT COUNTRIES IN LATIN AMERICA UNTILL NOW HAVE NOT strive towards progress due to that stupid mentality of "pride"............

  • Natives have been here for over 60,000 yrs n ur trying to protect spanish colonialism in the last 4-500 yrs n call us stupid? Thats 1yr of colonialism to 120yrs of indigenous culture. How is 1yr [500] of colonialism going to undo 120yrs [60,000] of freedom?

Dont confuse pride w dignity. Dignity is the understanding of self and the absence of shame. Pride suggests supremacy. Supremacy doesnt exist w red n black ppl; it DOES exist w whites.

White supremacy (pride) pays their bills for 500 yrs.

  • what about the african slaves that was brought to south am. along with some of my cherokee man..for instance the tiano shows this mixture the song ''bombayya'' o bomba shows a blended african n native languge o columbia o brazilian show the blended african n native bc both was oppress and was treated like underdogs by the spaniards...i bet if you take blood quatum youll find out you also have african roots

  • African roots is what this man is saying! I have done my geneology and ur right, I do have African blood too. If you have any curls in your hair, its likely ur African blood causing that.

  • many south and central americans (i refuse to say latin america) are of mixed race and "hispanic" is simply a conveniant umbrella term

  • If we want to reject the term "Latin America" what do we use in its place? Remember, we have to include the Carri bean. I like to say "Meso, Central, South and Caribbean America"... but its too long! The problem is that were still trying to lump diversity into a term centered on particular European colonizers and their language.

Natives in the north refer to N Am as "Turtle Island" (in many dif languages) and Mexica's named it Anahuak

S Am in Los Andes refer to S Am as "Pachamama"

  • i dont like latin america because to the best of my knowledge we arent ancient romans...i dont say that im latino or hispanic, i simply say that im puerto rican

  • Latin American is useless and insulting to our ancestors. This continent is property of the Natives, not of Latins! Therefore it's not "Latin" America.

North, Central and South America seems acceptable to me though.

  • The Caribbean is very mixed, with many people being triracial, but that is just some particular countries.

There are other countries that are quite pure racially.

    No one would doubt that:

    Argentina is White.

    Bolivia is Amerindian

    Uruguay is White

    Peru is Amerindian.

Of course, you can't expect any country to be 100% racially homogeneous. The U.S. is made up of MANY races and yet we never came up with a convenient "U.S. race"!

  • we say american to refer to any citezen just like argentina, no matter what race says argentinian to refer to citezens and not any particular ethnic group

  • Yes, but this does not express "race." We can assume that Bolivians and Peruvians are Amerindian, but can a Canadian and US Amerindian exclaim, "I am Canadian" and have the same effect? Also, my question is in reference to dialogue around spanish colonized countries (Mex, C Am, S Am, Car). Caribbean is not classified as N, C or S Am. How do we speak of these populations? What about exceptions of Uruguay and Brazil that were not spanish colonies?
