sorry, just want to interupt for a second.for gituar hero, it is entierly diffrent than playing an actual guitar.

rock band 3, however, uses a working guitar. that's all the notes with all the workable strings. and yes, you can even plug it in to a proper amp. just not at the same time as when your playing the game.

the button mashing of guitar hero has now molded together with a real guitar for utter genius.

also, hard mode means you hit ALL the notes, not just five every minute.

Generally though, Guitar Hero is more difficult than playing an actual guitar(6 string at least). Yet if they tried it, they would probably fail.

Guitar Hero does many people a vital service of making them feel trendy, indie, hard core, or metal, by being able to match notes on a screen with buttons, and STILL not having to put nearly as much effort into playing a song than picking up a REAL instrument. As a guitar player myself, I do think Guitar Hero and Rock Band are helping in introducing kids to new (and old) music they probably would never discover on their own, and in some cases inspire them to pick up the real thing. In that respect, Guitar Hero is a good thing. HOWEVER, if you think you're hot shit just because you can beat TTFAF on expert, then you're an idiot.
