i do a runner normally and run and jump down from the bridge to pick up the item and run and die somewhere safe lol then kill him when im a bit better
I know its like 5 months too late to say this... but just dodge his sword attacks. He attacks in a pattern so memorize it and dodge while he attacks, then get a few quick sword swings in during the 1.5 second pause before he puts his shield back up, then repeat =]
One entire video of you getting killed. Be more headstrong and try to dodge to the side more than just stepping back. Also don't rely on just your bought items. You can always beat the guy with just your sword. You just gata be smart about it.

I know this is really old but it still really annoys me the way you did this =P What you should've done:
Spent souls and upgraded strength once so you can equip the Uchigatana. Use Gold Pine Razin (sp?) before fighting him. Snuck up on him, backstabbed. Grabbed the ring while he was down. Parried. You would've taken him in 2 hits easily.
just use the uchi it is way better than the drake sord anyway because of the range and speed all you need to di is upgrade it at a blacksmith you find
i did the exact same thing with the merchant! although i was talking to him then put my controller down and tapped the R2 button in the process, which resulted in me hitting him. was considering restarting, but fuck it, the boss took me like 6 attempts to kill him. only just got the game so im watching your videos while im playing to see where i have gone wrong etc
Can you do the same drop attack (that you used against the demon boss) against the large knight? If you were up high, and he couldn't get up there, then you could spam that and kill him easily.
@herofromthedark Yes, but it won't stun him, meaning that he may attack you (He has a large chance of missing, anyway) and it will only do 48 damage if it hits once (Which happens if he moves after you hit him first) and 72 if you hit him twice (Which will happen if both attacks land, so if he doesn't moves) you'll have to do it probably 5-6 times, i think more, to kill him. And even then you'll need Estus because he may hit you once you land.
@herofromthedark If you get to do it it's good, but DO NOT make the same mistake i did, i wasted that item you only get once in the game that completely heals you (The one you choose at the beggining from a list) Thinking i would get some of his stuff.
All you get is 600 souls from him and a ring that increased your defense when you're at low health (Less than 1 square) in the place that he was guarding.
if you go up the stairs there is a hidden path....hit him and go to the hidden path he will try and follow and die my falling off.... then you could get the ring where he was.... and he does not re spawn back
what u should have done at ur level is lure him out go up the ladder wait until he goes away and then follow him and backstab him then go up again wait until he goes and backstab again and repeat
if you need to go back, say if you used an item and u know ure going 2 die, turn off the console, it will send u back to the bonfire, but u'll still hav your item!
@rbwatkins13 Not redundant, actually, this game has massive quantities of variety in almost every area from weapon types/upgrades/fighting styles, enemy types, environments and character interactions, and even boss types. On the topic of boss fights, some require some form of idiosyncratic action while many others are simply all out brawls wherein you can utilize weaknesses and win quickly or simply clash, in epic fashion, and win through sheer grit.
@Lunartrek multiplayer is fun! even if it is broken wth lag stabs and what not. most of the people i play arent douches so its pretty good duels i get, esp in kiln, as long as neither player does TWOP or lagstabs the whole match than its all good.
@tharbk01 It CAN be fun when it isn't frustrating as all hell to get my friend and I into the same game. The lag isn't so bad, really, for me and PvP has been rather a fun challenge, but it has been roughly half and half for me. I occasionally get the prick that simply spams this explosion miracle which I cannot block and that always sucks, but, a good portion of the time, good duels ensue which get my blood flowing. Honestly, I just wish the co-op aspect where less random and out of my control.
There is a easier way to kill the Undead knight. (make sure you have firebombs about 8-12 or less)Lock yourself behind a door, for some reason they cant open it, then throw the bombs at the knight who is stuck behind the door, if the fire bombs didnt fo enough then use basic attacks, even know he can still attack you backits better you can run away and use the flask without him shoving his sword into your back

You can't even give me a clear definition ofna walkthrough, and change the meaning mutiple times, such as using the phrase "proper walkthrough". It's either a walhthrough, hybrid, or a let's play. Keep making progress. It's boring if u keep backtracking, defeating the same enemies as before. It is fun for u but not me as I can only watch, not play. Also it Is more interesting if u take on the hard enemies such as the beast. Because if u do defeat it, then that is entertaining. Running away is not. Remember this is a walkthrough for us to watch.
@JP8940 It's his let's play, if you want a rock solid sure fire success walkthrough go find one. The entertainment here is listening to his commentary. It's fun, interesting, down to earth. If I was to offer help at any point with this walkthrough, I'd say to put annotations linking to later parts of videos to skip backtracking.

Hey ghost when you fight that due you can take him to the ladder jump down and hit him with that stab move. And keep doing that over and youll be able to kill him.
You can also lure the black knight to the stairs where the flaming barrel was and jump down to the ledge. you have to do it carefully though and only if you dont need to loot his body. once that is done go to the end opposite to the wooden planks and fall to the ledge. the knight falls off 9 out of 10 times
There's a cheap way to kill that black knight....go back to where the door is and shut it behind you...then kill him at your leisure with bow from across the bridge (the premature merchant kill hindered you slightly....he's a good farm..)
Dude, why didn't you up your strength to 14 to use your badass sword you killed the merchant for...otherwise great sticking with the game...its not for everyone...

@darkstunts157 i think not, demons souls had a hardcore fan base, it transfered to dark souls, there are tons of people who defeated this game easily, its a challenge to new one's,demons souls kicked ass out of me, gotta be hardest game i have ever played, i played it till NG+5 and stopped after that, dark souls was tough though, but not after demons souls, but honestly for a person who never played both, i would say dark souls will suck out of you...hehe

You can't even give me a clear definition ofna walkthrough, and change the meaning mutiple times, such as using the phrase "proper walkthrough". It's either a walhthrough, hybrid, or a let's play. This is obviously not a walkthrough, so shouldn't be called one. Your constant rambling that this is a guy walking through a game is a pathetic attempt to try and justify the misleading title.

Keep making progress. It's boring if u keep backtracking, defeating the same enemies as before. It is fun for u but not me as I can only watch, not play. Also it Is more interesting if u take on the hard enemies such as the beast. Because if u do defeat it, then that is entertaining. Running away is not. Remember this is a walkthrough for us to watch.

@JP8940 It's his let's play, if you want a rock solid sure fire success walkthrough go find one. The entertainment here is listening to his commentary. It's fun, interesting, down to earth. If I was to offer help at any point with this walkthrough, I'd say to put annotations linking to later parts of videos to skip backtracking.

@runescaper128 Walk through. He is walking you, the view, through this video game. He is also speaking during the game, often what is done during a "let's play". Just because YouTube's very short preview space for the video title doesn't allow for you to read the title in full, doesn't mean this automatically makes this video a walkthrough.
Now get some common sense then bugger off to watch a proper walkthrough if that is what you morons want so much. Less pointless bitching, more searching.

Get with the program. Never said this wasn't a walk through. It just isn't the exact kind of walk through a lot of people are wanting it to be after clicking on it. Helpful walkthrough or not, he is still guiding people through and in a lot of ways, showing what not to do.

The fact is that when i search for walkthrough of dark souls, I see a shitty player running away from weak enemies under the title "Dark Souls walkthrough". Theres only one type of walkthrough, the type that helps people go through a game as quickly and efficiently as possible. There may be different styles, but it has a common goal. You can also lure the black knight to the stairs where the flaming barrel was and jump down to the ledge. you have to do it carefully though and only if you dont need to loot his body. once that is done go to the end opposite to the wooden planks and fall to the ledge. the knight falls off 9 out of 10 times

There's a cheap way to kill that black knight....go back to where the door is and shut it behind you...then kill him at your leisure with bow from across the bridge (the premature merchant kill hindered you slightly....he's a good farm..)

@darkstunts157 i think not, demons souls had a hardcore fan base, it transfered to dark souls, there are tons of people who defeated this game easily, its a challenge to new one's,demons souls kicked ass out of me, gotta be hardest game i have ever played, i played it till NG+5 and stopped after that, dark souls was tough though, but not after demons souls, but honestly for a person who never played both, i would say dark souls will suck out of you...hehe
