Do people honestly think the current climate today has been the same since the planet was formed over 4 billion years ago? The world has gone through climate change dozens (if not hundreds or thousands) of times before man ever existed and it will continue to do so long after we're gone.
People today believe anything they read, see, or are told. Put the word "credible" or "scientist" into a a theory and everyone blindly accepts it. Wake up people and use common sense, if there's any left.

@111333364427 The phrase "GLOBAL WARMING" has changed to "CLIMATE CHANGE" because "GLOBAL WARMING" sends the wrong idea. An increase in the overall temperature of the earth does not mean that the weather will get warmer everywhere, different places will be affected in different ways. For instance, I live near the Lake Ontario, and we have been seeing MORE SNOW as a result of the lakes not freezing over due to WARMER WEATHER. You should really look into it more.. maybe it will change your mind :)
If you are a true believer in man made global warming and want to do your part you can start NOW. walk and bicycle everywhere you go, install solar and wind power for your electricity, buy only local products, recycle every little thing, contribute money to your cause. No theory is certain let alone one that relies entirely on predictive models that have so far been inaccurate in their predictions. Smoking rates are declining in the western world, the majority don't do it, people believe smoking kills so they are consuming less. The same isn't happening with co2 because most aren't seriously concerned that global warming will harm them. I guess we're doomed.

I said from the outset catastrophic man made global warming. Co2 changes the climate so does human land use. Try to follow the debate almost no one disputes the greenhouse effect, they dispute the positive feedback from water vapour that is needed to cause catastrophic temperature rise. Co2 alone gives a 0.5 to 1.3 degrees rise.

@kaspinio Like I said reeducate yourself, these "atomic facilities" do not produce greenhouse gasses they merely produce radiation from the half life's of uranium rods. The billowing clouds that you see in most picture of them is water vapor, this heated water originates from the reactor where the uranium rod heat the water and produce steam. The water vapor is then used to spin turbines which in turn creates power.

Using numbers from the US DOE, China alone will be emitting ~25Gt CO2 by yr 2050, in a 'bus. as usual' scenario, or ~19Gt in an 'extreme austerity' scenario. This ignores The other 2 economies which will have passed the US in CO2 emissions by then. Compare that with ENTIRE WORLD CO2 emissions of a mere 8Gt for the yr 2005 from CDIAC. Given the reality of the above numbers, which are NOT disputed, what kind of fool could possibly believe that it's possible to trim CO2 emissions by ANY amount?
Look at the facts...our atmosphere is composed of 70-80% nitrogen, 20-25% oxygen. Around 1% of our atmosphere is made up of other gases. Since argon is one of those other gases, lets say CO2 and argon split that 1% 50/50....how much of a threat is that to the world population...really???

@cupera1 You won't believe how many times I've heard the same things that you say. No scientist said "the earth is cooling". That was a hypothesis (just a hypothesis) between a few scientists speculating if the release of aerosols would block the sunlight enough to overshadow the warming by CO2 (yes, they new what CO2 could cause). The previous climate changes were due to some other factors, but those factors are NOT in effect right now. Burning of fossil fuel has a warming effect on the Earth.
@ShwangShwing The CO2 rise is a LAGGING indicator that shows that the earth warmed 300-400 years after the Little Ice Age ended. The Maunder Minimum occurred during the LIA and we are in another sun spot minimum again thus would explain the cooling that has gone on for the last ten years

The "medieval warm period" was only in the north atlantic (a local phemonenon). The warming has happened before, but none of the things that caused it are in effect now. The original interview with Hipl Jones in in the bbc website, and if you read it whole, you will see that the "no warming from 1995" is not what is said there.
The whole Global Warming hockey stick rise was based on three cherry picked trees in one forest in Siberia. NASA is now being hit with Freedom of Information Acts lawsuits to look at what data was made up. In case you did not read the emails that talked about

Sure, the earth has been warming since the end for the Little Ice Age and warming has been happening for 100's of years. Both events the MWP and LIA were both global events and the evidence of their happening have been found from China to the Arizona deserts. To try and say that humans were responsible for ending the LIA and started this current warming is nuts. These eco priests have gotten 100's of billions and do not want the gravy train to end.
@cupera1 The MWP was a local phenomenon, that's the truth. Don't get your information from blogs about it. The LIA was caused by unusually low sunspot activity (btw the sun's output has been fairly constant in recent times, so don't blame it for warming), and higher volcanic activity (the volcanoes throw reflective particles in the atmosphere that reduce the energy that reaches the lower atmosphere).
The oil companies spend billions in lobbying against env policies, when you talk about money.
Could this powerful ad be amended so as to make people understand that the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster is ramping up this problem exponentially? People are ignoring this oil leak as though it is not an issue for "them." This is everyone's problem. All the water on the Earth is connected. We are leaving a horrible scar for our children to deal with now. If they don't stop this leak soon, humanity itself will not survive. All things are connected.

The Earth has been warming and cooling since bacteria have been on the planet. This same conscious of scientists that are NOW saying global warming said it was global cooling in the 70's. We have barely gotten out of the little Ice Age that started in the 1300's. We still have a little warming to go to fully recover and have farms and vineyard in Greenland again. @111333364427 The phrase "GLOBAL WARMING" has changed to "CLIMATE CHANGE" because "GLOBAL WARMING" sends the wrong idea. An increase in the overall temperature of the earth does not mean that the weather will get warmer everywhere, different places will be affected in different ways. For instance, I live near the Lake Ontario, and we have been seeing MORE SNOW as a result of the lakes not freezing over due to WARMER WEATHER. You should really look into it more.. maybe it will change your mind :)

But as it is, I've seen no studies that support skeptics’ position, that humans aren't warming the planet. NAS, NASA, SOCC, NOAA, AGU, NCAR, and others span 30+ years of science. And your foundation?

No theory is certain let alone one that relies entirely on predictive models that have so far been inaccurate in their predictions. Smoking rates are declining in the western world, the majority don't do it, people believe smoking kills so they are consuming less. The same isn't happening with co2 because most aren't seriously concerned that global warming will harm them. I guess we're doomed.

I said from the outset catastrophic man made global warming. Co2 changes the climate so does human land use. Try to follow the debate almost no one disputes the greenhouse effect, they dispute the positive feedback from water vapour that is needed to cause catastrophic temperature rise. Co2 alone gives a 0.5 to 1.3 degrees rise.

@kaspinio Like I said reeducate yourself, these "atomic facilities" do not produce greenhouse gasses they merely produce radiation from the half life's of uranium rods. The billowing clouds that you see in most picture of them is water vapor, this heated water originates from the reactor where the uranium rod heat the water and produce steam. The water vapor is then used to spin turbines which in turn creates power.
The internet is a vast library of knowledge at your finger tips, use it.

Using numbers from the US DOE, China alone will be emitting ~25Gt CO2 by yr 2050, in a 'bus. as usual' scenario, or ~19Gt in an 'extreme austerity' scenario. This ignores The other 2 economies which will have passed the US in CO2 emissions by then. Compare that with ENTIRE WORLD CO2 emissions of a mere 8Gt for the yr 2005 from CDIAC. Given the reality of the above numbers, which are NOT disputed, what kind of fool could possibly believe that it's possible to trim CO2 emissions by ANY amount?

Look at the facts...our atmosphere is composed of 70-80% nitrogen, 20-25% oxygen. Around 1% of our atmosphere is made up of other gases. Since argon is one of those other gases, lets say CO2 and argon split that 1% 50/50....how much of a threat is that to the world population...really???

With all the controversy concerning the human impact aspect of global warming we might want to keep this in mind:
1. We have been releasing materials proven to be greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere for over 100 years.
2. The Earth is right now in a warming trend.
If there is no connection between the two (doubtful) and we take action, we stand only to improve and upgrade our methods of energy production. If we are indeed the cause of this warming trend (likely) and we do nothing...

These same scientists that are NOW saying global warming said it was global cooling in the 70's and were predicting we would have a glacier ice sheet down to the Dakotas by the year 2000. We have barely gotten out of the little Ice Age that started in the 1300's. This is all a mute point, Mans effect on the planet is like two fleas on a dog arguing over who gets to steer.

@cupera1 You won't believe how many times I've heard the same things that you say. No scientist said "the earth is cooling". That was a hypothesis (just a hypothesis) between a few scientists speculating if the release of aerosols would block the sunlight enough to overshadow the warming by CO2 (yes, they new what CO2 could cause). The previous climate changes were due to some other factors, but those factors are NOT in effect right now. Burning of fossil fuel has a warming effect on the Earth.

@ShwangShwing The CO2 rise is a LAGGING indicator that shows that the earth warmed 300-400 years after the Little Ice Age ended. The Maunder Minimum occurred during the LIA and we are in another sun spot minimum again thus would explain the cooling that has gone on for the last ten years

@cupera1 These are media quotations out of context. The data for the hockey stick is accurate and has came indipendantly from many sources. The "medieval warm period" was only in the north atlantic (a local phemonenon). The warming has happened before, but none of the things that caused it are in effect now. The original interview with Hipl Jones in in the bbc website, and if you read it whole, you will see that the "no warming from 1995" is not what is said there.

Sure, the earth has been warming since the end for the Little Ice Age and warming has been happening for 100's of years. Both events the MWP and LIA were both global events and the evidence of their happening have been found from China to the Arizona deserts. To try and say that humans were responsible for ending the LIA and started this current warming is nuts. These eco priests have gotten 100's of billions and do not want the gravy train to end.

@cupera1 The MWP was a local phenomenon, that's the truth. Don't get your information from blogs about it. The LIA was caused by unusually low sunspot activity (btw the sun's output has been fairly constant in recent times, so don't blame it for warming), and higher volcanic activity (the volcanoes throw reflective particles in the atmosphere that reduce the energy that reaches the lower atmosphere).
The oil companies spend billions in lobbying against env policies, when you talk about money.

There are many causes of global temperature change. GHG, Solar Irradiance, Volcanoes, El Nino & ocean circulation, and most important, changes in Earth's orbit & axis perturbations.
ONLY GHG has had any major effect in the last 35 years. Global temps. have spiked +0.55C with NO INCREASE in solar irradiance. In fact, TSI is at a 35 year low.
BTW, El Nino events have also strengthened 60% in the last 50 years due to global warming. Why?
