  • Great video keep up the good work

  • @NewAgeDirector Thanks!

  • Interesting video! Do you have any experience with the STI Executive model with .40 s&w cal. ?

  • @kluetenkloeter From looking at the specs it seems to be pretty much like the EDGE. With the main difference being that it is Hard Chromed. Do you have a particular question in mind?

  • @nictaylor00: Thx for your reply. I was asking with respect to aspects like precision, trigger weight and intensity of recoil...

  • @kluetenkloeter I spoke with someone at STI and the only real difference is that the Executive is hardchromed and has a Dawson Precision front site. Other than that, they are the same. The hardchrome looks nice and it will make it easier to clean. But mainly it comes down to if you like the black or silver look. Check out the "dawson super tuned EDGE" at Dawson Precision. I think it may be a better deal all around.

  • Nice videos; I like that you pointed out the cost of modifications--it does make one question the need to buy a brand new gun. Only problem I see with your videos: now I want one!

  • @itlogo Once you shoot the open gun, its hard to go back (its like coming over to the Dark Side). I think used is fine. Like most mechanical items, you will need to replace parts as they wear.

  • WOWOW 1000 DOLLARS THATS TERREFIC

  • seen all your 3 vids on the STI ,iam impressed, you gave quiet some good info on those guns, perhaps on of those will be my first iam going to buy, will be for home defence only so i figure the 1911 should do it ,and i like one with a mag ,not into those revolvers with only 6 shoot drum, any advice you can give me on that ?

  • Holy crap, 1,000 is a steal for one of these. I'm still deciding if I want to make the dive into Open. Just costs are getting so high to shoot anything, and school/work is kicking my behind.

  • When looking into an open gun purchase, you might want to consider one chambered in 9mm Major. That way you can use factory ammo if you are short on your loaded ammo. Not too mention the 9mm brass is cheap compared to 38 Super (about 9 cents each). If you have a 9mm major open gun you will probably need a couple of recoil springs. 1 for your major rounds and a lighter one for factory ammo.

  • Isn't a STI a "Sexually Transmited Infection" ?

    Lmao jokes nice video :)

  • Most .38 supers are already +P. I think you're talking about the .38ACP. They can't use .38 super. I'm not sure about the 9x23 browning though. 9x23 sorta the same size as the .38ACP and .38 Super, but it has thicker brass to make higher pressure without brass failure. Sweet gun.

  • The barrel for these types of guns are made for higher pressures than an over the counter gun. I'm sure that the loads I am using are beyond +P store bought ammo. For reloading I use what ever brass I have, then after making the ammo I check each round with a case gauge. Any that are too fat I toss aside and check them in the barrel. If it fits in teh barrel I label it for practice. If it does not fit, I pull the bullet. I shoot my brass until it is trash. Brass seems to be about 10 cents each.

  • What do you think of the .22 kits for

1911's? I would like to shoot more but the cost of .45ACP is to much for a high school student like myself .

  • I do not own one personally but have always wanted one. Last time I looked the price was around the same as a Ruger Mk2, so I figured if I was to spend the money why not get a 22pistol. However, there is probably a big difference in price by now. If you have the $, look into the Marvell 22 kits. They make them for IPSC, so that you can convert your IPSC with a comp into a 22 with a comp. Of course they also make the standard ones too. They are supposed to have very good accuracy.

  • Thanks for the info! , looks like a good unit. The $325 price tag would be made up really quickly as cheap as 22 ammo is.

  • I'm not sure yet. I'm planning on buying my mentor's 1911 that he lets me practice with. It's a Kimber Pro Carry with an alumium frame with 6 wilson mags. It occasionally has a double feed. I'm planning on swapping in a ramped bull barrel from SVI or STI, lighter trigger, and maybe a PARA PXT Extractor.

Maybe weld a full length dust cover to it, but it's gonna be my daily carry (hopefully) and weekend shooter. Do ya think i should just get a used 2011 instead?

  • That does sound like alot of work. Your cost may get so high doing those modifications that you might as well buy something else. Plus, the Kimbers are already pricey... so I would guess any money you put into it, you would not get back when/if you sold it. On the double feed, it is most likely a mag problem. Be sure and mark your mags so when it happens you can try and narrow it down to a particular mag.

  • do you gunsmith your own gun? Where do you get you custom parts at?

  • Depends on your definition of gunsmith. I can do the easy drop in stuff but when it comes to machining and fitting important pieces, I pay a real gunsmith to do that. What parts are you looking for and perhaps I can point you in the right direction?

  • what is that like 3 grand for that modified gun their?

  • I purchased that one used a few years ago for $1000. You can get new ones for considerably more than that. The more custom you make it, the higher your price. All the gagets you add to it cost $ too, but the labor charges to add those items make the cost skyrocket unless you can do it yourself. So IMHO, it is best to buy a used gun already to go with the add-ons you can live with/without.

  • The STI's are nice. However, if money is limited, look at the Para Ordnance P16. You can get the same bullet capacity as the EDGE, but the cost it less.

  • Nice vids. I'm thinking if I should buy STI Edge. At this time I'm shooting with CZ75 Tactical Sports (9mm) but since I want to move to major and .40S&W seems to be hard to get, moving to STI looks very reasonable option.

  • IDK about you, but its looks like a S&W 5946...LOL.. good job !!
