For all the punks who dont know nothing about this guitarist- you must all be children to compare 80's and 90's as even in the same league as RT.44 years of guitar playing- 20 albums. Seen him 6 times electric and acoustic- nobody better.Seen Beck/ Page/Clapton/SRV/ Roy Buchanan and a hundred more. One listen and he's trash- he could bend strings around your forehead- geez!
I wasn't a huge RT fan for years - my Dad was and persevered with me, as I learnt the guitar through the years, but I was hooked his guitar from the start. I've now aquired enough of him to have been hooked for years, and can thank god I stuck with it.
I don't like Guitar Hero.. I mean I do but I like Rock Band way better I have over 200 DLC and why do guys like you get mad when someone don't like the same music as you?
Hey, how about you all cool your jets and stop being babies about WHAAA MY FAVORITE KIND OF MUSIC DOESNT GET ENOUGH REPRESENTATION THEREFORE EVERYTHING ELSE SUCKS!
Richard Thompson is an acquired taste, but once acquired, his talent is mesmerizing. I was psyched to hear he'd been added to Rock Band. Now I can only hope for "1952 Vincent Black Lightning!"
It does seem like an odd choice of song to try to introduce RT's amazing talent to a new audience. I like it a lot, but I don't think it would crack the top ten of any of his fan's favorite songs of his. Wall of Death, Shoot out the Lights, Keep Your Distance, Hard on Me,or the more recent Dad's Going to Kill Me would seem to be good choices for Rock Band. Wouldn't think an acoustic number like Vincent Black Lightning would work, great as it is.
dude thanks for posting a vid with this song i couldnt find it and i was looking for it for RB so i could hear it before it came out. You should make these vids every week and i would definatlely subscribe...if you do make sure to put thr (RB DLC) next 2 it...THANKS! :D
They need to put better stuff in rock band the best songs they put in rock band are My Curse, Desperate Times Desperate Measures, and the songs by Avenged Sevenfold.. This is just not my type of music
Those are the songs in the game that have the highest amounts of mixed opinions about them, and those are definitely not the best songs in the game. The DLC has please people other than you, you know.
Yeah, as a guitarist who pays attention to music news in general, I was surprised to have never heard of him, particularly after finding out he was voted in the top 20 best guitarists by rolling stone magazine.
If you haven't heard RT before aside from this song, go watch "Dad's Gonna Kill Me" (happens to be the first related video in the side for me). It's awesome. I wish they had gone with that, it would have been an automatic purchase for me.
I agree, the tone of this song and emotion in vocals reminds me of Jeff Buckley a little, just on the other end of the pitch spectrum to Jeff Buckley of course ;)
I don't care big time for the vocals, but I like overall how this song sounds, so it looks like I'm going to be loading up more MSP next week (only have about 400-some currently).
Eh. Not something I'll probably grab for RB. I do like that they try to hit a wide range of musical style though so in theory, at least, I support this addition. ;-)
Oh, lord. I guess I'll stick to R.E.M. and The Offspring. It's alright though, "The Kid's Aren't Alright" is one of my all-time favorites, "All I Want" is badass, and "Losing My Religion" is a classic.

So hard to choose a favorite RT song, but this one is at the top of my list. Off one of my favorite of his albums!

Certainly not a bad song. I'd pick this up for a dollar, otherwise this is going up on my "waiting list".

Can't wait for The Offspring and R.E.M. Songs, might give this a chance, even though I'm a drummer
Amnesiam 3 years ago
Not his most accessible song for newcomers, for sure. But go back for a second look.
Richard Thompson is arguably the best writer/musician/performer in the world.
If he is not God outright, he is a ranking member of the Pantheon. Scratch that - he IS God!

And this song is weird still waiting on tht guitar part, I'm a RB drummer so not liking at lol

Yeah... I'm holding my breath (no pun intended) for at least three tracks off of 'Grace' if not the entire album...
