I loved this girl, but there was literally no melody left of the original. Should've claimed it as an original song or something, but this was honestly simply too damn off the original.
also wtf is it with bashing her with the whole (who are you) concept.... its like she is constantly being asked who she is... i thinks he might as well go Gaga/Perry and go monster/alien .... then she can do songs about not belonging anywhere, because appearantly no on e know who the fuc* she is -___- people are stupid...
i think the fact that it went from 24 to 13 in one day is what runied her chance... th best fall sometimes and maybe this wasnt her best, but if this season was just like the rest, 24 to 20 then 16 then 12 then i think she could have been in the top 12
man this sucked. I liked her vibe but then she had this performance and messed it up. No wonder she didn't make it. Didn't do this song any justice whatsoever.
i thought this was AMAZING.....vocally......i agree with travz21 with the ''right behind haley comment''...i think she has a unique voice with amazing range as we saw in her speechless performance......she shouldnt of gone.....and in my opinion ashton should of gone lauren turner and kendra should of stayed as well as rachel
i don't think this was bad. i just think she could have done a lot better keeping the original arrangement. her voice is suited to sing fiona apple. still, i think the judges were harsh when they didn't need to be. i really would have liked for her to stay in the competition longer!!
The audience Loved it, they ALL STOOD UP, they all cheered. Then they booed Randy. Why didn't she get enough votes? I still think this is totally #awesome!
and @randy's comments...i kinda thought the point of this show WASN'T to sound like other artists already out there, most especially the person who originally sang the song the contestant chose. we want their interpretation of a song already out there, not a copy of what someone else has already done.
This was frustrated to watch, they've been telling her different things all season. At first telling her to be her because she kept on saying "I don't know what you want to see from me" and they tell her to do "her", then, when she does a performance like this they say "It's too ___, just be yourself!"
I thought this was sooo good. It's too bad the judges thought she was "too broadway" because she was a little broadway in that performance. It's sooo stupid she should be in their instead of Ashton. She was great.
Eww. The vocals were not good. She was trying too hard and I didnt even recongize the song because she made it sound old. Then I looked it up and I liked the oher version better. Fiona would not have liked this.
Can't believe Ashthon is still in and Rachel is out. Sure she really blew it from 1:42 to 1:52 - so what? She still sang the rest of the song way better than most of the other contestants. Lauren T also got the short end of the stick. Ashthon is still in - is there any justice in this world :(
The unappreciative, tone-deaf public, I get. But the judges? Every time a contestant is "Broadway", he / she is always "too Broadway" for them. Just because someone can do Broadway doesn't mean he / she can't be a recording artist. How would they know when that person hasnt been given enough chances to display his / her range?
For the record, this was pretty much my favorite female performance. Lauren Turner, Haley, Pia, Thia, Kendra & Naima were good but Rachel was the best.
@ctti What are you talking about, you dont turn a sexy song like that into a lounge act it was very loungy, vocally it was good but the arrangement was horrible.
@ctti It was a spectacular act but it didn't really match with the sense in the lyrics, "Criminal," it wouldn't have worked in a recording apart from the visuals, and it did not show off her incredible vocal range.
She was good, she didn't represent her talent well enough with this song, unfortunatly. I thought she could go very far. On that note though, the version of the song was not bad, there were better singers that night though.
I still don't get this. I thought Rachel had the second best performance of the girls, right behind Haley. The crowd even loved it. Not sure how she got cut. It's a shame that Ashton and Naima got in before her. There were some really good girls that should have gotten in before those 2. Oh well. At least most of the guys were picked correctly.
@travz21 I think maybe some voters just didn't get this version... it is very different to the orignal, maybe so many of them dont even KNOW the original. This was quirky, and unusual, had a little cabaret vibe at some times... and I think the voters aren't really accustomed to that maybe.
Why change up such a good song? This was horrible.

THIS IS HER RENDITION. IT DOESN'T REQUIRE ANY MELODY OF THE ORIGINAL. I think this performance was stunning.

what a great cabaret-esque rendition of a great song.

You can't try to take a very dark song and try to make it a show tune. That is where she messed up.

My two favorites in the competition: Rachel and Casey. Thank god Casey is still in the game (right?).

shes awesome but she needs more face expression (specially when doing this kind of number seeing that she looks so innocent and petite)

her voice is good, but it sounds nothing like criminal. I recognize the lyrics, but everything else is completely different.
