This was truly the hey days of Calder Park Raceway , I remember going to Sandown with my late father and his mate, we would watch the Touring Cars. Ford Sierra's and also plenty of alfas in the Sports Sedan Series, truly awesome!
Anyone know where to see film of Brocky and AJ in those great battles between the Monza and the 935??? They were great days. Bondy was a close 3rd in the 924CGT from memory?
The Monza is the car that Bob Jane built for Brocky & Alan Jones to race in the Miami Grand Prix race in 82. Brocky then raced it in the 1982-83 Aust GT Championships, having great battles in with 82 champ AJ in his Porsche 935. A Broken tailshaft off the start line at the 1983 Adelaide round cause a massive pile up. Complete rebuild needed. Jane sold the car to Alan Browne. Alan Grice won the 84 title in the car losing only 1 race. Sold to Bryan Thompson in late 84 who won the 85 title in it.
That was so good to watch. I spent a lot of time as a kid at the racetrack with Bryan and his Monza and Mercedes racecars. I've got some old stuff like this on tape I'd like to transfer to digital one day.

The Monza has a 6.0L Chevy V8 and as late as 1994 was still running competetively in what was then called Thundersports.

Awesome stuff. Barry Bray's car still exits, by the way. Was racing as recently as 2004.
