    > .... embrace

    Embrace? What embrace???

  • I think my telomeres just got longer! :-)

Long may science and dance co-exist.

  • Schlecht für die Augen

  • Awesome way to learn about physics, since I particularly hate reading papers even though we have to! :)

  • Totally agree with blkchk lots of steps no feeling. Wonderful try needs to first of all have apropiate garments Tango is no jeans. He moves with the music with more feeling than her. So please using elegant clothing is very very important.

  • Hola prima, que casualidad conseguir tu video por aqui....bailas tango muy bien, al menos te vi bailando aqui ya que ni pude cuando viniste de visita-

  • is this called dancing???

  • Yeah.. I bet woman is sweeting..

turning to much. to much actions.. And actions are slow.. not sharp and sudden..

  • ballroom "dancer" comment here

  • Hmmm it was ok, but you guys seem to lack emotion when you dance. It really lacked passion.

  • some people just dance for fun, others just to dance, and other REQUIRE "passion". personally there are very very few "passionate" dancers whom I enjoy watching. I always enjoy watching dancers having fun.

  • I can't speak to the physics, your tango is good (better moves than my own) but your connection is lacking. Get a new instructor and work on basics; the moves you've developed will flower. I would recommend the Gotta Tango book/DVD from Planet Tango and the movie The Tango Lesson. Argentine Tango is not exactly lead and follow. It is all about connection.

Good luck in the competition. I think your dance may be expressing the concepts you want to convey very well.

  • Congrats on learning the dance. The steps are 'there', but no feeling...it looks like its just all steps. The hold, posture, execution are just not great. Find a really good teacher who will not only teach you the steps, but also the culture, etc behind the dance. I really believe that if you learn ABOUT the dance BEFORE you learn the steps, you will learn that the steps are secondary...AT is about feelings, relationships between a man/woman. Then the steps will have feeling/depth.

  • Nice creativity!

I myself am a physics phd student and I also dance tango, different style though.

  • you've got all the moves, there's at least two years work, but you're really not connected at the heart...you obviously enjoy the tango as much as I do, so i suggest you change your teacher...find an Argentin and relearn the basics.Good Luck !

  • agreed. some difficult steps; but you need a better axis/balance to achieve true fluidity and to move as one. It does come across very choreographed and maybe not as natural as argentine tango can be...

as above said, the basics: caminar, posture, embrace, leadership from the chest (for the male) etc.

kudos for putting up the video though and best of luck.

  • agreed. it's come like mechanical and the passionate emotion is lacking......but obviously that happens when you're not in the best mmodd or uncomfortable.....no offense but-

Tip for the Lady- Stand upright and let you're body (Spc. Hips) move......and bring out some passionate emotion so you're tango can flow and emote......

These two tips can improve lady's performance in the tango.....being a latin dance choreographer and performer myself.....these 2 things are th finess

  • Hips - no! This isn't salsa. Argentine tango is improvised, not choreographed.

  • Now that's what I call "brown"ian motion!

  • all i can say is - oh, puhleeeeze. good luck on the phd but this tango association is way bogus.

  • hey! I heard your interview on radio mitre, way to go! you are so damn multitalented it makes me sick :) keep it up and good luck with your PhD, Dr. Landry!!

  • It is Una Musica Brutal by Gotan Project...

    Great choice of music!

  • haha, amazing! The DNA is really pliable!

  • una musica brutal by gotan project

  • Does anybody know the name of the song used? Sounds real nice...

  • I can see how the tango involves physics, but is this an interpretive dance about physics? If so it is very subtle.

  • It takes two to tango! I loved watching you two, excellent! The dance is smooth and flowing like you had it choreographed and yet it wasn't. Kudos to both of you!

  • Wow, tango must take some serious practice! It looked pretty good, sexy, just not as sharp as it coulda been (psht, like I'm an expert or something). Still, I LOVE the concept behind your dance :D Congrats on the win and best of luck with your research!

  • I thought it was pretty sweet!

  • I think you should do this whilst on fire, call it a catalyst...some people will smell burning hair, I smell a Nobel Prize!

  • its a good start but its obvious you havent been doing this long enough to feel totally comfortable and in controll of your and your partners body...

    try again next year

  • I agree

  • what authentic Brownian motion you present, dear

  • movements are ok, but you, florin, step as you walk in the street...look bad, get some tango shoes and try to step with the point of your feet first. kind regards

  • Great to watch and intriguing! Congratulations Markita and Florin! Yet I am not a dancer, a particular dance fan, nor working as a scientist (tho having a BSc Zoology degree)... but, I do like to see anything done really well, with enthusiasm and assurance. Your PhD sounds fascinating!

I am pleased there is this event furthering the interplay of art and science - 'play' is a valuable element - an opportunity for enjoying our capacities as whole human beings.

    well done, best wishes!

  • Hey! Lovely!

I have more ideas for tag words so you two can win:

una, musica, brutal, molecules, jeans, gotan, champaign, urbana, alternative, experimental,

boleo, volcada, gancho, legs, embrace, sound

    Good luck!
