  • I didn't have to worry about the spilled pinhead crickets that went all over the place when I dropped the container. He chased every one of those things around hopped over and ate them all and caught one crawling across the back of my hand. I still have the spots where he pecked at my hands! XD Anyway, the release/rehabilitation was a complete success, although I'm not licensed or anything and not a rehabber, but we couldn't find one that day b/c of the holiday.

  • The first and second day, I had a hard time getting him off of my hand, he was clingy and would fly right back on my shirt, head and back on my hand. He pecked at my shirt, my leg, anything he thought was food. At one feeding, he was so impatient, he started hammering away at my foot, and the napkin I started first putting the food on. "Hold your horses, dang!" I would say. Then he screee and impale himself on the food bowl greedily sucking up the food. He caught all 12 crickets too.

  • Unfortunately, it did not occur to me to take pics, though I filmed him for 2 minutes w/what little film I had left in the bathroom climbing the rockwall. He would climb/fly up there and nap. Luckily, one of my family members came in and told me to look up at the camera when I was feeding him. Actually, by that time he would feed himself after I filled a syringe, gave him a taste, and he ate from a bowl. He'd look up at me & I'd give him a stern look saying eat more u need ur strength.

  • @scribblesstaffie Bet he was a handful. Just got through raising a baby woodpecker. He was a noisy thing, pecking on his carrier the second day we had him. I had to force feed him to get his strength up then he started eating on his own, pulling my hair, pecking on my head and trying to make a nest. By the fourth day, I had had enough and knew he was ready b/c he made a good flight around the room and I released him on Xmas morning. He's out there now drilling holes in our trees.

  • Thank god you saved this owl thank you so much i hope god rewards you for your kindness and generosity thank you you made my day complete

  • lord bless you for helping out a helpless animal child =]

  • Probably didn't make it... :(

It looked so helpless, but sometimes, we shouldn't get involved, not until we are certain that they require human intervention, in order to survive!

  • give me my DIN DINS or else i will give you a hug so........DIN DINS!!

  • oh and that worship guy, what a stupid cunt am i right

  • augh....owls learn to fly from the ground up, if it was sitting on the ground healthy it was in this stage of learning, now youve got a momma owl looking for its baby and not finding it ( and owls grieve pretty seriously) and a perfectly healthy owl getting a nasty adolescent shock, seriously this happens every year, good natured people think they are saving owls when in actuality they are just messing with an eternal cycle. ( unless it was injured...then its fine)

  • how cuteee

  • So cute. A friend of mine in Europe once got to pet a Tawny Owl at a zoo once.

  • That's one loud chap. I hope it's doing well.

  • I WILL BE FED NOW!!!

  • Looks really cute. My father and a friend of his found a baby Tawny Owl as well, and woke me up about 3 years ago to ask how you care for a stranded half grown owlet. A pet owl would be cool, but it's quite a challenge to just hear a wild adult one, let alone see it. In total I've seen exactly 4, three Tawnies and one Barn Owl. Awesome vid, I'd forgotten the noise the babies make

  • i have a barn owl :D plus i hope you did not steal him from his parents if you did i hope you give him good life :D our barn owl is 10 years :D

  • Excellent points seph just ignore him he obviously dont know any thing about animals and how they behave xx

  • Haha obviously. So glad the owl was okay. They're such beautiful animals.

  • Actually it went to a wildlife sanutary which two others its age was raised and released back in to the wild as an adult

  • That is so ignorant. As a baby just out of its nest, it was going to die in the wild. And it would not grow up to be a "killer" - they are birds of prey and will only kill what is food to them - namely mice. Not an entire human being. If she HAD raised it, it would've taken to her kindly just like any animal that someone cares for since being young. Ever heard of dogs? We get them as puppies and raise them. Otherwise, they'd just be just like wolves and coyotes. You're dumb as hell.

  • Excuse me? A MAN? You are all of 3 years older than me. That hardly makes you a man and me a silly girl by comparison. And I never said you could domesticate wolves or coyotes, I was pointing out that since dogs and wolves and coyotes all belong to the same species and family (canis lupus and canidae, respectively) - that the reason we get dogs as puppies is to domesticate them. If a dog was born in the wild and therefore raised in the wild, then it would hardly be any different than a wolf.

  • And FURTHERMORE, the reason the owl was released into the wild is probably because ONE it is illegal to keep an owl in a lot of countries, and two, they're not an impulse "keep". You need proper care and skills and knowledge to be able to keep an owl healthy in captivity. So, silly boy, go spread your completely obvious lack of knowledge elsewhere. You don't know who you're fooling with and you should know better than to assume that a WOMAN would have no knowledge of wildlife.

  • It's funny how a typical man turns everything into a "joke" once he's proven to be an idiot. God, did you learn that back in 7th grade? You're so advanced and wonderful and I'm just a little damsel in distress who just wants to save all the owlies and bunnies and promote peace on Earth.

Save it for someone who doesn't already think you're pathetic, 'kay? XO

  • fuck you owls are beautiful and incredible you ignorant biggot.

  • *SNAP SNAP* Getem' girl! :D

  • So you're implying a 2lb (if that) owl will attempt to attack even a child? Owls may look wise, but they really aren't. Even the really large birds of prey have to be pressured to attack a human. Also, keep in mind that Tawny Owls are nocturnal (you can handle big words right?), and the odds of coming close to one at any time in the dark are, at best, remote. Bear in mind that this is real life, not 28 days later

  • aww! that's so sweet!

    I'm happy that it lived

  • i think it fell out of its nest yes i took it to a wildlife center where they had two others the same age they tell me its doing really well and they will release it in a few months

  • I see. Maybe you'll have a video of this owl fully grown?

  • no its being released this week

  • I see. I hope you'll get to see it one last time.

    Such a helpless little creature.

  • Oh dear. Was it abandoned by its parents? Were you able to get it to a rehabilitation centre?
