These videos are awesome, it's hard to say who is better though. I feel like Dave's style goes so well with what he does in Megadeth. And Kirk's goes really well with Metallica. It's pretty hard to compare both styles becasue they clash pretty hard. All I know is its not really fair to say "kirk hammett sucks."

Without the demo to listen to, Kirk would have been sitting around scratching his balls for weeks like he did in year and a half in the life of Metallica when trying to come up with the solos for the black album. End of no remorse main solo from dave is similar to i think the end solo from holy wars, although that is not uncommon with dave!
it just sounds similar coz he's ascending the lick up the fretboard but it's quite a different lick! in holy wars its a double pull off with the E string resonating by his pinky in this its a lick going down 3 strings ascentding!
dave does sometimes have a tendancy to repeats a few licks(devisl island solo & five magics solo) but kirk only has about 7 or 8 licks he ever uses!
no, he has many good solos, i actually think the intro solo to no remorse was good, and kirk also does an arpeggio in creeping death, he does it real fast and i guess it makes hard for people to notice but if u pay attention or watch it live, you could tell
Kirk's a total loser! There's only like 2 solos that I think Kirk did just a bit better. Mustaine has very cool solos and they variate much more than Kirks. Kirk always plays that saaaaaaame old pentatonic scale that starts to annoy everyone in 30 sec. =Kirk SUCKS, Mustaine ROCKS!

I really don't think we can do a "who's better" competition between the two cause they are almost equal,on lead guitars that is. i agree that whiplash is the worst of daves solos from the demos with metallica. but u havta take into account that kirk's 1 is still bassed on the structure of dave's. the way dave started the solo and ended it fir perfectly into the song! (just like every other demo for kea)
also hammett used wah throughout the whole main solo in hit the lights. without wah he would have never been able to pull of that many back to back licks that mustaine did so well to structure and fit together!
of course Kirk was less shitty in the 80's...he still had Mustaine's solos to rip off from.He started to suck balls on Justice in 89 when he started jumping up and down on wah pedals and doing weird bends and tapping that did'nt make sense.

mustaine is better than kirk in every conceiceable way! and kirk doesn't have "his own sound" his style on kill em all was modelled on mustaines and anybody can use wah and make shit less precise notes sound half decent! mustaine is more original and plays with more feeling and technical ability!

No. They are definitely not. You must have never played a guitar in your life, or have had your ears blown off in a factory accident.
Mustaine has no style or character in his early solos. Just a bombarding abuse of notes and speed.

Part of "In My Darkest Hour",the piano intro to "Last Rites/Loved to Death",and later,the intro to "Absolution",Alot of "A Toute Le Monde",the dual harmonies on "Ashes in Your Mouth",and way more I can't think of right now,are great pieces of his melodic side.I'm sick of this "Dave just plays fast"shit.

not forgetting the intros to good mourning/ black friday, bad omen, my last words. the clean blues licks in high speed dirt, daves solo from the symphony of destruction demo, forclosure of a dream, the breakdown in trust. sure the whole lead in into the lungs of hell is very melodic!
dave is much more melodic and musically as well as technically talented than kirk!
