  • Good video!

  • How much did you paid for this flight? or it was a private??

Greetings and thanks for share this

  • @wero8a1 Just rental cost for the plane.

  • You can see my house when flying over coney island :D

  • Thanks for a look at "the city". Got my ticket in 2002 and live in Maine. Have always wanted to fly that corridor, but don't care much for flying anywhere near that tightly controlled airspace.

  • @ka1rtw Not as tightly controlled as you might think. I could do all my VFR flying without even talking to anyone if I want to. But I usually am. It's very rare that I am denied radar services or have any trouble.

  • To be honest, you were a little high on your approach.

  • @superfsxtutorials it was a really thin runway, he wasnt high. thin runways always give the illusion that you are high when in reality you arent

  • Very nice.

  • boy I bet it is pretty cool to stare the Empire State Building in the face!!

  • I would like to one day do flying traing. The most daunting parts of flying training from what i have researched seems to be spins and recovery training.

  • @210482fmj Not really. You don't even have to do spins for private pilot training. Just straight ahead and turning stalls (with and without power).

  • @SoarBird134 It's wise to do spin recovery training though i would of thought.

  • Thanks for the look around the city.

  • umm how fast do those things go and how is the gas milg??

  • @johnswat51 Not very and not great. About 120mph and 15mpg at best. It's been a few years since I've been renting that plane. However, the Mooney I bought can do 180mph at about 18mpg or 140mph at 20mpg. Better than my car! All while going 3-5 times faster!

  • excellent! I thoroughly enjoyed our little ride thru the city,,,well done.

  • i have a question in area of like bergen or passaic county or even nyc can you fly anywhere you want or there are some restrictions

  • I have a dumb quetion.

How do you approve to fly there.

Cause i mean all the 9\11 things.

  • @Baldorad It's a VFR corridor where airplanes can fly along the hudson no problem. General aviation does not pose any major threat to public safety.

  • @SoarBird134

    Thanks!

  • @Baldorad its not a dumb question, you dont need to be approved to fly there byt some special permit. like, soarbird134 said, you can fly there with out talking to any radar service stations or approach controls, but to be safe you should. all you need to do is contact one of the approach frequencies or one of the towers ( depending where youre coming from) and you should be on your way flying next to the buildings

  • Damn I'd like to be Spiderman!

  • insane landing man!

  • i love small plane pilots. they are always so fun and nice. think about. i cant think of one video of a small plane with the song bodies playing.

  • I learned to fly in 1985 and flew down the Hudson twice. Once at night and another and dusk. Night flight was in a 152 and the dusk flight was in a 182 at gross weight.

  • Great video, thanks for sharing! And thanks for the text description, i could easily follow the flight and make out landmarks and sights. I live in Europe but i have family in New Jersey and when i come to visit, i would love to do a scenic flight over NYC! Cheers!

  • Awesome video man, would love to do that. I just started taking flying lessons at 40 years old, i hope one day i can do something as amazing as this. Great video, very inspiring, thanks.

  • @ohthegaz Thanks. Good luck with training and fight through the hard parts, don't give up. Learn to fly first and worry about all the other aspects later. Have fun.

  • @SoarBird134 Thanks man, that's probably the best and most positive advice i have received so far, thanks again, and will say it again, AWESOME VIDEO!

  • @SoarBird134 how much is the parking fee at sussex?

  • @seaboo143 No idea

  • how old is the pilot, co pilot? I want to get my license but im 13 :p great flight guys!

  • @republicansarecool The pilot was 22 at the time of the video and I the "copilot" am 15 at that time. My brother did all the flying. If you want to get into aviation at a young age, try out Soaring. Gliders are a lot of fun and you can go solo at 14 years old. Gliding is also good training for powered flying and who knows, maybe the soaring bug will bite you too! Check out some of the other gliding videos in this channel or contact me to get a better idea of soaring, if you are interested.

  • @TheSoarer151 Please tell me more on how to get training, the local airport might have some flight lessons and gliding sounds fun.

  • now this is what I want to see from my simulator

  • @notanfningain Simulator will never replace the thrill of doing it for real

  • @SoarBird134 never get close

  • looks wayy better than FSX..i needa fly in new york

  • this is on my bucket list. almost went to med school at mt sinai up there and promised myself i would return for residency when i decided to go elsewhere. how much is it to fly up there? I would imagine a bit more than down here in NC.

  • If'n ya had floats on yer aeroplane (or a stout air mattress), ya could a done "touch-n-go's all the way up (& down) the Hudson. Don't ya take a chance flying o'er those big city housing projects? . Hear "Da Boyz" like shooting at Planes, Blimps and Cops...but(t) maybe ya 'ave that Female Blues Singer (FBS) blasting out the open windows as you swoop by... dropping flour-bag bombs?

  • was that the throbs neck bridge...

  • It never ceases to dismay me how many great vids are totally ruined by frickin music! Aerial enthusiasts want engine sounds, THAT is our music!

  • I am surprised they let planes fly in that airspace. I did not know that. Cool.

  • I fly with my dad all the time but we have a mooney we upgraded from the 172 I do miss that the 172 was a lit easier to control and have fun in the new plane is fun but the 172 is one of a kind

  • You're allowed to fly 1000 ft. (indicated altitude) over the GWB?!?!

  • awesome!

  • Awesome video!

  • At 5:48 ground zero bottem right!!!

  • I was fortunate enough to be able to make this same trip from Morristown (KMMU) New Jersey with my daughter in 2009 a couple of weeks before the mid air collision. It was a great flight and one that I will never forget.

  • Very nice video! i like new york is a very nice city

  • Thanks for the great ride! That was fun. Your emergency landing options are very limited!

  • awesome

  • Awesome video. When I look at this and think about my areas, Bournemouth and the Isle of Wight in the UK it doesn't comare to this area. Amazing video.

  • Good flying bud!

I love the tri-state area, country and city just minutes away.

  • 172 with 4 people? full gas? is it a 160 hp?

  • @mystico2 If memory serves me right, it was indeed 160hp and 4 people, but fuel was less than full. I'm thinking something like 25-30 gallons. Brought us just less than gross weight. But with 3,500ft of runway and STOL kit on wings, we got out just fine. Would be completely insane to take it over gross weight though!

  • @SoarBird134 thanks...

    im thinking on buying a 172n..no stol kits..just 160hp.

so im making al pre w&b before buying..seems a very fun and cheap plane to fly..i actually own a pa 32 300 but it likes a lot the avgas..

    thanks..

  • @mystico2 A flight instructor once told me some important words of wisdom: "if it flies, floats, or fucks, it's cheaper to rent." These typical piece of shit cessnas are available to rent all over the country, why would you want to spend more to own one?

  • @SoarBird134 It's not necessarily more expensive to buy (aircraft that is), especially if we're talking partnerships, which are becoming increasingly popular these days. It all depends on how much the plane costs (obviously), how many people you're willing to split ownership costs with, and how often you fly. If you only fly a couple times every few months or so, then yes, it would most likely be cheaper to rent.

  • @swa5297 I know, but from the partnerships/clubs I've seen, generally the best they can do is offer the same price as rental. It really takes an insane amount of flying to get a better price that than cause hey, the school can get a few hours on that plane every day and a lot on weekends. The best reason I see to buy a plane is to have a kind of plane that isn't really rentable. Skyhawk is so common and so cheap to rent, that owning one is same cost at best. Really hard to save by owning.

  • @SoarBird134 I plan on buying an old beat up 172. Whats so wrong with that. As long as the maintenance and records are up to snuff its better to own than rent.

  • @SoarBird134 does the 172 have altitude hold and speed hold?

  • @seaboo143 LMAO, it barely has a complete working instrument panel.

  • @SoarBird134 well thats why im asking. because i dont know. im just a simple aviation enthusiast gathering info. so bare with me. im learning man.

  • @seaboo143 It's ok. Just thought it was a funny question cause the plane was in such terrible shape.

  • @SoarBird134 you sir, either dont fly them and are assuming, or you have one ancient-ass 172

  • @spiker84 First of all it is an ancient-ass rental 172. This is pretty obvious from the panel shots cause the new ones look different. Second of all, who needs an autopilot in a 172 anyway? The plane is for learning to fly...

  • @SoarBird134 i use it when i have to fly for a few hours, it kinda comes in handy sometimes. agreed its pretty pointless, but it really is just like cruise control on a car, its there, but you dont use it alot and when you do, its usually just for a long stretch of road.

  • @spiker84 I agree. I used AP like once in a Piper Arrow when I was going through some really congested NY airspace so I could free my hands and mind to focus on traffic and ATC instructions rather than holding altitude and heading. But for normal flying, trim gets the job done well enough and since cessna draws on both tanks you're unlikely to look at much disbalance.. now in the low wing planes where you use one tank at a time, it can become quite a job to counteract the constant roll attempt

  • @SoarBird134 i do use trim quite a bit myself, but where i live (colorado) the weather and wind isnt "stable" enough to use it instead of alt hold, because the mountains create this strange wind pattern and some bad turbulance sometimes

  • @seaboo143 no idea what that that dude is talking about, it does indeed have an altitude hold. i think what he meant was an autopilot, this is a hold, it keeps your current altitude. and the instruments are just fine, i see no problem with then.

  • @spiker84 yeah man. i dont know whats his problem. i was just asking. lol.

  • @seaboo143 no problem dude, everyone has to start somewhere, right? haha

  • grate vid!

    regards from argentina

  • Great views!

  • 172M? Nice video, man!

  • Nice video i loved it! i wish i could fly in sucht beautyfull scennery! Thanks for sharing

  • what altitude are yall flying at?

looks like fun! thanks for sharing

  • I think it was about 1000 feet. This flight was before the recent airspace change.

  • I've always wanted to visit NYC. I don't know how great it really is, but it's a cultural icon - great to see those things I only watch on film.

  • omg! I LOVE new york!

  • that was an awesome video and 1 hell of a crazy ass approach towards the end. if you go again can you get video of staten island cause you got everything but staten island =(

  • Definitely a great video.

  • great video

  • very nice tour of the area - nice flying
