PUZZLE 2: Why can't white play pawn to c7? Threatening mate in 1, and if bxa6 then Qb8. Black is forced to take with bxc7 then Nxc7 check, and you have repetition to a draw?? Am I missing something?
I clicked on this video from your channel and saw the picture of the giant Rubik's Cube. Funny enough, I can solve the exact cube shown in about 5 min. :D
good video..but i suggest to make a clear color different between the white and black pieces..it is not in good contrast.just a suggestion..thanks..pls subscribe me and see my videos..thx again
I think there is a forced mate for white at 3:21, it starts with pawn to c7 threatening mate, the bishop is forced to take. Then knight captures bishop delivering check and forcing the king to a7 which is the only square, then the queen can deliver mate at b6
Jerry, I have a question: what happens in the fourth puzzle, if, after h6, Black plays Ne6+, followed by Nd8 and Nf7, to stop the pawn when it's on the h7 square?
What if in #2 the bishop doesn't take on c7, instead Ka7, then Qxa5+, then Kb8, there's no perpetual checking because eventually the king can escape through taking the knight on c7. I think as long as black doesn't take the knight on c7 then they win the game?? I went over it a few times, but I might be wrong. Even after Kb8+ if the knight goes a6+ then the bishop can just take on a6 and the king can still escape avoiding the stalemate for white.
I didn't solve any puzzles, but they were fun ponder upon. Could happily announce mate in 6! when that 5th position appeared in one of my blitz games. Impressed my opponent.
In the 3rd puzzle, is it not also possible to win by playing Bf6 (or Be7) instead of moving the pawn forward? Black is forced to play g4 to prevent mate, and then white can push his pawn to promotion since blacks pawn blocks the view of the bishop.
I think @DiamondDaveLeeRoth (who is really not interested in making our life easier :)) makes a good point that should be noted - trying to maintain the mating opportunity with the knight will lead to stalemate.
In the third problem after white plays h4, gxh4 is not forced. Black draws with Be6+. and no matter what white plays black will be playing gxh4 on the next move eating white's last pawn and white will not be able to mate him. It looks to me that white will have to play carefully to even draw. ex Kxe6 gxh4 and it is 6 pawns against the bishop. A couple of sloppy moves by white and he could lose. Love your videos.
So maybe theres something I'm not seeing in puzzle 5 but, knights to d4 and d2 respectively, then king to c2 instead of a1, avoiding the check and guarding the pawn, after black knight takes on b3 king recaptures and white knight to c6 for the win.
@DiamondDaveLeeRoth Kc2 after Nd2 will result in the same stalemate for black as if you played Ka2, because following Nxb3 and Kxb3 black is left with no possible moves.

At 1:51 take in note that it does matter. I think Black must play a1=Q cause if Kxd4 then Bxe7 and then getting it on the file of a1-h8 where it will stop the pawn from promoting
Your analysis of the first problem is faulty. The difficulty with White playing Nd4 immediately is a1=Q which pins the knight. If Black plays KxN as you suggest then White plays Bxe7. If a1=Q then Bf6+ wins the queen and the game. If Black tries Ke5 to control f6 then Bf8.

just to ask, if i didn't missread:
3rd problem: same ideas, but first Bd7 or Bf6, then black has to g4 to avoid mate, and then the pawns can break through with 2. c6 dxc6 3. d7.
does this work, too??
