  • Were is plasma?

  • Good video even without sound!

  • brilliant video guys this will be great for teachers as there knowledge for kids is a bit highly separated . you know kids they can learn a lot from things like this!!

  • This video is a favorite on Malawi

  • how do i download this video?

  • What video is this from?

  • CORRECTION! Gasses do not move in a completely random manner! Heavy gasses move only down! Light Gasses move only up! This is not random. This is a set fixed path. Its called "Rule of Nature" They can be blown about randomly though by other pointer factors like Wind and Combustion etc. Maybe is 2008 things where different but

  • @MrNativeDancer Sorry, but if "light" gases move "only" up, and "heavy" gases move "only" down, we should not be able to breathe in oxygen while standing on earth. It would have moved up and left layers of "heavier" gases (such as carbon dioxide) just above the surface.

  • @GrezH Exactly if trees stop making oxygen we all die lol your right! Wind blows oxygen, and mixes it with other dense particles slowing and even preventing it from rising, for example water is Oxygen mixed with Hydrogen, both gasses rise but when mixed become heavy thus sinking back to earth as water. Thats heavy you know you try carrying a bucket full. But when gasses seperate and become pure and light weight they move only upwards until contaminated so to speak hard to explain here though.

  • @MrNativeDancer Interestingly, a water molecule is one atom of oxygen (mass 16u) joined to 2 atoms of hydrogen (mass 1u each) so has an overall mass of 18u. However, a pure oxygen molecule containing 2 oxygen atoms has a mass of 32u. This means that oxygen molecules are heavier than water molecules. It's the forces between them that cause the change from solid to liquid to gas, and also their density.

  • @GrezH Lol your confusing me now, in another post you said we would not be able to breath if lighter gass move up because oxygen would all go up, now your saying its heavier then "quote" water? I have totally lost the plot haha So are you saying Oxygen is a light gas or a heavy gas? I may of miss read or miss understood what your trying to say?

  • Not all Gasses assume the shape and volume of their container. Some gasses can pass straight through. Like Helium and Hydrogen can pass through the walls of a container. Some gasses are heavy and migrate to the bottom of the container! some are light and migrate to the top of the container! Thus not asuming the shape of the container! This video does not make sense because Liquid is Condensed Various Gasses for example water is H2o right!

  • @MrNativeDancer If a gas "can escape its container," it is not being contained, so it's not really in a container! Due to differing densities, gases will show layering when mixed together, but pure carbon dioxide will not sink to the bottom of a container, it will completely fill it. All liquids are condensed gases, but they show different physical properties, which is why they're called liquids.

  • What about sand? That is solid right! but guess what it acts like liquid when tipped from a jar? try it! You will be amazed! Liquid is not Random either buy the way! It acts like memory! Liquid is just less dense solids! Example freeze some water it becomes more solid as it cools! Heat metal it goes more like liquid! Water is like a less dense metal in form! acts and behaves in the same way but at different temps. Hydrogen and Oxygen both components of solids!

  • @MrNativeDancer About the sand thing....... i think its meant to be one grain of sand, sand isn't conneccted together so it doesn't act like a liquid

  • @MrNativeDancer Sand is solid. 1 grain of sand cannot act like a liquid when tipped from a jar. The behaviour of the constituent particles in liquids is not the same as it is in solids - the intermolecular forces (or interionic forces) are much stronger and drag the surrounding particles with them.

  • Solid,liquid,gas,plasma,beam,bose-Einstein condesate,thought wave,superfluid,fermionic molecules,rydberg molecules,quatam hall,quark/strange matter,quark-gluon plasma,degenerate matter,super solid

  • States of Matter:

  • state 1 solid

    state 2 liquid

    state 3 gas

    state 4 plasma

    state 5 bose einstein condensate

    state 6 fermionic condensate

thumbs up if i got them all

  • @diegonikki Solid Liquid Gas Plasma Superfluid Supersolid Bose-Einstein condensate Fermionic condensate String-net liquid Supercritical fluid Colloid Degenerate matter Subscribe me because I got them all right.
  • yea and 4th called plasma and the 5th called bose - einstein condensate

  • I could understand chemistry well aft watching this video

  • good

  • Aaaaaaaaand that's my study session for this year.

  • can anyone tell me the energy forced for gas is it high med or low and same with liquid please quick?

  • ooh look im studying!!!!

  • this is meant for a young learning science class, and it is stupid to mention the other states in the comments because no one will care. EVER!

  • Plasma ? ;-)

  • State 6: Superfluid

  • state 5: "Bose - Einstein Condensate" (BEC)

  • and plasma

  • What's the issue with Bose-Einstein condensate and plasma being called "additional forms of matter"? They're both, in essence, forms of gas.

I don't know. I'm not a scientist. I've seen a diagram in which each one of the classical states can change directly into another. However, plasma cannot. It would have to become a gas, again, then change directly. This doesn't make sense to me. How is plasma then considered a state of matter all to itself? Or Bose-Einstein condensate?

  • @TenderTrap86 At these temperatures, matter begins to display different properties. Plasma is a very "hot" gas that, due the particles speed, causes electrons to come loose during collisions creating charged particles - not just regular particles moving quickly.

BE condensate would not be a version of a gas but rather, if anything, a "version" of a solid. Still, near absolute zero the particles lose all natural motion changing the properties of the matter. It would no longer be recognizable.

  • @MsPolice0000 So, plasma is a version of gas and BE condensate is a version of a solid?

  • @TenderTrap86 The key to remember is that states of matter are primarily classified according to 1) particle attraction and 2) properties displayed due to this attraction. Plasma is a legitimate addt'l state of matter because of the different properties a gas can display once it hits certain temperatures. For some people, it is easier to think of it as a hot "gas", but in classifying matter the change in properties becomes a factor.

... see next reply for BEC explanation and summary..

  • @TenderTrap86 BEC is, for simplicity, a really "cold" solid. These basic explanations work at an introductory level and in relating to everyday things depending on the age & knowledge level. However, BEC is considered another state because the separtate particles (atoms) aren't even vibrating anymore. They essentially start to behave like one, giant atom and displaying VERY different properties than the solid state you are familiar with (ie, ice near abs. zero would not be ice like you know it).

  • @TenderTrap86 Wait until you learn about something called a Quark-Gluon Plasma. This is an even "hotter" state of matter that completely loses the properties of recognizable matter as it actually cause the subatomic particles to rip apart and no longer be the the protons, neutrons, and electrons that we know. Essentially, all matter is the same thing in this state because there are no proton combinations to make elements distinctive. After all, the protons are torn apart ....

  • @MsPolice0000 Thats right, Plasma is when an atom has been stripped of it's protons and neutron due to extreeme heat, thus ionizing them, this is why Plasma is somethimes refered to as an ionized gas.

  • Comment removed

  • state 5: bose-einstein condensate

  • Why does Plasma not include in theese vids? All the stars in the heaven is made of Plasma. Thought it would be normal to atleast mention it.

  • im watching this because of homework

  • boring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sweet!

  • state 4 plasma

    state 5 magma

    state 6 Aquarius

state 7 Bose - einstein condensates

  • plasma

  • and plasma is where?

  • love this vid

  • Where is the 4th state of matter plasma?

  • state 4: plasma

  • @IIGrayfoxII actually... plasma would be more like state:0

    States follow in order from...

    Plasma

    Gas

    Liquid

    Solid

    Superfluids

    Bose-Einstein condensates

Also, if you wanted to be even more specific, you could include a zero motion state, nuclear plasma, and quark plasma.

This would bring the number of states up to 9, 10 if you included some kind of fundamental plasma state.

  • @IIGrayfoxII this video is about states of matter found on earth

  • @allAboutDEADSPACE

Plasma can be made on earth.

Schools just dumb things down for kids

  • @allAboutDEADSPACE plasma is found on earth. And can be quite easily made.

Bose Einstein Condensates still can be made by humans, however the process does not quite qualify as "quite easily"

  • @IIGrayfoxII state 5: bose einstein condensate

  • @IIGrayfoxII state 5: beam

  • @IIGrayfoxII State 5: Light

  • @Legendofdeserts

Light is not matter. It has no rest mass.

  • i was expecting the other, oh, 33 or so states of matter

  • you are also forgetting Superliquid, Supersolid, and Hypergas discovered in 1937...

  • Sheesh, you people are so picky. This is supposed to be basic stuff, probably not even 5th or 6th grade level (though schools vary, obviously). Don't expect so much.

  • Awesome! needed this for our presentation. THANK YOU!

  • @NotVirginRadio your fake and gay fag. states of matter arent fake dumbass.

  • @NotVirginRadio you be trollin' :P

  • @NotVirginRadio

not fake they are states of matter over 20 to be correct it was showing you a particle diagram

  • all the comments that people listed are a bit...

i think this video was like the type teachers would show their students but not something at home!

  • this guy missed out the other 12 states of matter...

  • @cragster101

there's actually 26 states of matter.

  • yeah, around that number

  • name all them..

  • I only favorited this cause my teacher said it was COOL BEANS!

  • Cool

  • um how about the 4th one plasma the 4 states of matter its the most common in the universe but not on earth

  • solid's particles still do move thuogh, so in that respect is it safe to say there are no "solids" because nothing is truely 100 percent solid

  • so gas takes the shape of its container? im confused?

  • yes what about plasma!!!!!!!

  • They are between liquids and gas, the same as gels being between solids and liquids.

  • what the? how can you guys watch this

    THIS IS SO BORING

  • some people actually enjoy being educated, of coarse for most people this is just review.

  • These science animations are great.

  • its wrong

atoms in solids dont have fixed positions.

  • The Brownian Movement?

    Near-fixed at least.. ;)

  • there's actually over 20 known states of matter but the majority of them are either theoretical or doesn't exist commonly in nature.

the Bose-Einstein condensate for example is only created at near absolute zero.

  • plasma isn't theoretical though, it's the second most common state in the Universe.

  • its still a state of matter

  • WRONG, there are 4 states of matter, Plasma, the sun is in a plasma state so if 75% of the universe.

  • ok you are right there are four states but the reason we don't count it is being its not often found on earth, only in outter space but i agree it should be a state of matter.

  • plasma is found in lightning

  • yup solid liquid gas and plasma plasma is hotter then the core of the sun

  • how about the plasma in neon bulbs hotter than the sun? i dont think so.

  • what are you talking about?

  • the core of earth the inner part not outer is hotter then the sun

  • Where is Bose-Einstein Condensate, plasma and filament?

  • i got to watch this thing for skewl..

  • what about plasma?

  • good educational video

  • *fart*i made a state of matter

  • i hav 2 wach di4 skool ;-(

((poooor me, well i dnt really mind i luve science))

  • mee 2
