@Iceshrooms this post is like a month old but dont worry..There's nothing wrong with your system...It's just that GTA's graphics werent that great to begin with....I was confused at first, cause GTA IV used to look so good on my SD, but when i upgraded to HDTV it looked horrible..Apparently, GTA was never really made in true HD, and i assume it would look great on the sD cause the resolution was smaller making the jaggies non existent, but HDTV just magnified it and now u can see all the edges.

This game is developed in 720p for both consoles, like many other good games with good grafics quality like uncharted 2 gow 3 and bla bla bla, for the hardware of xbox 360 and ps3 1080p for many games with this grafic quality, textures is just impossible.

Just because the TV is configured and show 1080p on the display dont means the game runs native on this resolution, just can do upscaling or downscaling the native resolution of the game.

A person here has already said it.. GTA4 does NOT render at full hd (1080p which is really 1920x1080), Infact the VAST majority of PS3 and 360 games do not render at native 1080p settings. The hardware to render at that kind of res is only available on the PC platform since GPUs and processors constantly evolve every 6 months to a year. Infact, PCs can render games much higher then 1920x1080 (also called 1080p) like 2560x1600 which is even higher then FULL HD.

its already been said, GTA4 does NOT run at native 1080p (which is really 1920x1080), console hardware still has a ways to go to play games at that kind of setting. There are only a handful of ps3 games that can run at native 1920x1080. And GTA4 is not one of them. GTA4 for PS3 and XBox 360 run both at native 1280x720.

The game does not run at 1080p, you are probably confusing display resolution with render resolution.

LOL. I cant help but laugh at the mention of a 360 game running with 2x AA as opposed to a PS3 game having none. 2x AA is basically NO apparent anit aliasing at all, and the difference between no AA and 2x AA is very minimal. AA typically becomes apparent at the 4x mark and above.

One would think you were attempting to damage control by downplaying the 360 version being at higher quality settings when compared to PS3. Whether you think it is important doesn't change the 360 version has 2x more AA than PS3 and at a higher resolution at that.

Also for the record the significance of 2x AA is dependant on the resolution and the game, Crysis benefits from 2x quite a bit at 1680x1050 and higher for instance.

There is more to being the best console than who has the highest peak performance, it's about what's practical.

360 multiplats tend to look better because the platform is fine to develop on, PS3 however as we all know is ridiculously difficult to utilize. It is also expensive to make, they may have cut the sale price to be competitive but it is selling at a loss to do that.

It's probably why PS3 reported a $4.7 billion loss the other day, ouch.

Precisely. The PS3 is more complicated to develop for but when dedicated developers put in work solely for the PS3 from the ground up, the results are quite good I must say. And it shows with games such Uncharted 2, Killzone 2 and other exclusives etc..

But one can only wait so long for new exclusives and to limit yourself to exclusives only as I had, is rather pointless. I just wish more developers would take the time to get better acquainted with the PS3 architecture.

You are taking a higher budget than what even a cross platform game would use; then limiting that game to only one audience. This is giving it a very high break even point with only one platforms audience to do it, in other words they are high risk and have low profitability.

By every right those games that demonstrate the PS3s capabilities shouldn't exist, they only exist because Sony paid for them.

The newer 360s with HDMI uses HDMI v1.2, which doesn't handle true 1080p images. The PS3s HDMI (V1.3) does.
