Those shrimp rings you can buy in grocery stores are a bargain. So many fish love it, including my cichlids and yoyo loaches. Heck, all I need is 1 or 2 little cocktail shrimp rubber banded to a rock and they go gang busters over it. It's a treat of course, in addition to NLS or Omega One foods.
This is the first monster fish tank with full grown africacichlids I've ever seen. So cool its obvious you have experience in fish keeping. Well done. To all the hater stat need to find something better to do. There open water swimming African cichlids, if he wasted his tank space making caves they wouldn't hide in there anyway. They swim in open water. Duh

Beautiful tank u have. However due to the lack of hiding spaces do u experience aggression? I have an all male peacock and haps tank with caves to hide n they are always fighting.

What's the name of the rock u use I'm trying to set up mine with some like that I also have a 125 peacock tank I'll post mine up once I set up my rock work

Also your Fluval FX5, is it possible to purchase it and just hook it up on your ahh tank? or do you have to drill holes in your tank? because ive seen a couple of vids with the Fluval FX5 that has drilled holes through the tank.

@seage12 Thanks. Im running an Aquaclear 110 on this tank as well as a Fluval FX5, when I do my waterchanges I suck up the poop on top of the sand with my syphon. They arent gasping, just chewing/swallowing. Usually when fish appear to gasp for air or hang out at the top it has to do with lack of oxygen. Make sure your temp isnt too hot and you have enough water circulation/oxygenation.
@seage12 his fish dont seem to be gasping for air. They are doing that because they want to be fed. It is a normal behavior. When my haps see me just walk past the tank they start swimming on top of the tank. When you see cichlids do that then that means you know they are very healthy.

hey man. umm most of your fish seem to be gasping for air..
like they cant breathe well. im not saying your tank water is toxic or dirty. im just wondering is that normal? or do they do that when they eat.?
cause when i feed my oscars food they go crazy and once they have finshed eating its like they cant breath.
Dunno if its excitement and exhaution or its the water?
P.s i love how you keep the water clean. Also how do you manage to clean up all their poop?

Why cooked shrimp? it loses a lot of the nutrients that way.
