@hanoulibeen Thanks for your enquiry. The mix can certainly be the same but I would make it more liquid, like apple purée - to give enough water. I feed it in an eggcup so the baby pigeon sticks its beak in and sucks it up. However, RotorMedic7 channel has an excellent video showing the method he uses and if you click on the link on this page under video response "How to feed baby Pigeon "Penny" Part 1, he explains how he did it. Good Luck and if you need any more help get in touch.
For excellent help with how to feed a really small baby pigeon go to RotorMedic7's channel and see his two part video 'How to feed baby Pigeon "Penny" ' - find the link in the video response on this page.
I doubt if the mother pigeon could have done a better job herself. Hand raised like this they will become very special birds, I suspect they will always see you as Mom.
@dalecalder2003 Thanks for your comment Dale. I think they now expect me to feed them! Parent pigeons are very affectionate to their young, as are many birds and animals and I think it is this contact with the parents they miss as much as the food. At least the little blue fantail has taken over the job of grooming and there are worse jobs in life than Mummy Pigeon. I'd much rather be doing this than teaching in a college!
your birds are pretty big. can we feed 2 wk pigeons the same way?
how do we get them to drink water? or do they not need it?
thank you.
