  • You have a wonderfully informative channel. I found you by searching for rhubarb (my favorite for pies and jams) and now gooseberries! I loved gooseberry jam when I was a kid.

  • Why use gloves? you're afraid not to dirty ground?: D

  • Hi. Your video is very informative. Perhaps the best video on the Planet. I have a question though. I am second season for gooseberrie bushes and I was wondering if and when I should start to see leaves. Right now the buds seem to have stopped growing. I can't tell if the bush is alive or dead. They are potted on my balcony. Are you able to give me some feed back. If so I would appreciate that so much.

Ron! I don't know too if I should prune them it is early spring here in Canada!

  • can these be grown just in a tub?

  • Thank you for the video, I Tried Gooseberries when I worked for a couple days loading trains up with food/product. While in the back of the truck I seen these and ate a couple, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT, When I seen the seeds at the store I bought them right away. They take quite a long time to Sprout. But my lil seedlings are going to be planted into another pot in ten minutes. Once again, thanks, appreciate it.

  • What was the 'food' he put in? I've got a couple of gooseberry bushes well-established in an allotment bed. I got a fantastic crop last summer. I'm in the UK so it's spring now. I'm not sure whether to put bonemeal on or a general fertiliser like chicken or poultry manure.

  • watch the watering too, they split if get too much, i found out last yr ..hehe gooseberries FTW.

am just about to plant some, about 6, any thing I could do, for better results...plant in a row ? clumped together ?? was thinking behind some netting for bird control and besides a 'netting' type half 'fence' for a bit of shade (dint know that thx) ...

help me plant me orchard ? :D

  • I bet I cant grow these because I live in Canada.

  • I think it depends on where in Canada you live. Gooseberries are supposed to be hardy in zones 3-8. Probably some varieties are hardier than others.

  • @dicklarf I bet you can row anything anywhere if o needed to man, am UK and they grow here, stand the cold v well if that was your concern? that aid, if if gets cold like past -4 I'd be coveringem up with some cloth or starw or some such -just keep it offlike..., have start the vid again now lol.

be easier m8 if you put the bucket in the barrow an used ur hands. lurve the goosegogs miself , real nice in ice ream;)

good vid man, ooh, this is old ..off to watch some newer ones of yours, ,

  • no u can it grow in Zones: 3-6 [hardy zone]

  • LOL why didnt u put that wheelbarrow up closer to your pot? That way u wouldnt have to reach so far back.

  • I love watching your videos cuz your mannerisms really crack me up! lol and love the way u keep scraping around for free stuff...makes me laugh.. you're more frugal than me and Im pretty frugal, haha..never tasted a gooseberry before...what do u make w/them?

  • gooseberries are best when they are green, mmmmmmm and the put salt on them

  • ty you so much for all your videos they really do inspire me to try more and more with my garden =]

  • Why not put things into ground? You mentioned not having much space but if your going to put it in ground later why not now instead of risking it in a pot? I see lots of grass behind, are the sheep eating that? I'd make them eat around my gooseberrie.

  • Sounds YUM! Especially in our Australian summer conditions, to protect from the harsh afternoon sun is really important. Thanks for another great video!

  • Good job, important source of vitamin C there.

Just had some Cape Gooseberries ripening here, very nice.

Keep up the good work. 5/5

  • love your videos, brother. Keep up the good fight!

  • Nice one man, we just got 2 thornless blackberries, about 12 strawberries and a rhubarb, along with two citrus trees and a countless number of seed packets...its gonna be a busy spring! :)
