  • the irex is displaying roughly a real page worth of text, but the sony is displaying only a small amount of text like something from a childrens book which also means more slow page turns more often, that would interupt anybodys flow.

  • this is dump... i tryin to buy a ebook reader but i dont know which one prefect 4 me. they are all good but which one fits me the best..... i really interested just to read books.. ppl tell that Cool-er ebook is best for.. is it??? ya make ssoo hard to choose a ebook reader.....

  • this vid sucks

  • I have got the Sony PRS-505 and I love the thing. I saw an iliad and wasn't impressed with it at all. Shame we don't have the Amazon thingy here in the UK as I would have gone for that ones instead.

  • @critanime they have it now and it is only 189$

    or so

  • @LizPeacock1 My friend has got one. I think I will be sticking to my Sony PRS-505

  • I finally managed to get an iRex Iliad. After less than 6 months, it began to fail. It will jump 15 to 20 pages at a time, no longer connect to my PC, and the battery life is down to 5 hours from 15 hours.

iRex is stonewalling me about the repairs and ignores my repeated questions. Never buy anything from iRex.

  • Doesn't look like pressing is synchronous

  • Of course it's not. If it were, you couldn't compare the refresh times, because the page rendering speeds are different.

This is a screen speed comparison, not a PDF rendering speed comparison (and besides, the files are different, as well as screen resolution).

  • Oh, I see. I thought this is a test of synched press and when next page is ready to be read.

  • It was for a thread on Mobile Read discussing whether the new (and old refurbished) iLiads had Vizplex matrix (with iRex' custom driver) or not.

Hence the comparison with a PRS-505 which is known to have one.

  • I purchased an Iliad Book Edition from iRex in August of 2008. Due to problems with the delivery company, DHL, I never received the product.

iRex promised me a refund, but has not done so. At this point, I have neither my money nor the Iliad. iRex is totally ignoring me and does not even reply to emails. My only recourse now is legal action.

If you are thinking about purchasing from iRex, you should know that this company no regard for customers after they have your money.

  • wow iliads are so much bigger
