I don't know who's behind that clip, but this is one of the best clip I've seen ever made on a bob dylan's song. Great job ! very sensitive ! Hope I express myself well, I'm french ! Thrillin' !
i was thinking about Rollin and a tumblin....as I have Big Joe Williams version.
Sorry got the songs mixed up....never the less Dylans ability to continue to rise to the challange of album after album say's it all for me the man will never be surpased.
This ain't a cover of an old song... 'Thunder On The Mountain' was a new song Dylan wrote for his 2006 album 'Modern Times' - of course, it borrows heavily from early blues and rockabilly musical influences - and lyrically Bob tips his hat to blues legend Memphis Minnie... The 2nd verse is based on her song 'Ma Rainey'. Dylan cuts and shuffles Memphis Minnie's lyrics substituting Alicia Keys and Hell's Kitchen for Ma Rainey and her Georgia birthplace.
'Thunder On The Mountain'.... "I was thinkin' 'bout Alicia Keys, couldn't keep from crying When she was born in Hell's Kitchen, I was living down the line I'm wondering where in the world Alicia Keys could be I been looking for her even clear through Tennessee" -------------------------- 'Ma Rainey' by Memphis Minnie "I was thinking about Ma Rainey wonder where could Ma Rainey be I been looking for her even been 'n old Tennessee She was born in Georgia traveled all over this world"
Ah!; there's another one from the Modern Times CD, it's:.. if it keep on rain'in...""The Levee's Gonna Break" (And seems pertanent here in OZ where in 2010 the drought finally broke)...the stanza is :.... "I worked on the levee, moma both night and day, I worked on the levee, moma both night and day; I got to the river and I through my clothes away..." ...sony music;, they suck big time.
"I'll say this, I don't give a damn about your dreams"- but, you said you were gonna be in my dreams, remember? Bob?? First time I've listened to this song, I feel like I'm going to love Modern Times.
The second verse sounds like it starts with Dylan singing: "I was thinking about Alicia Keys".... lol! What is he actually singing? Anybody?
Anyway, it's bloody petty, ridiculous and outrageous that Dylan videos - even when the videos are made by Youtubers - are taken down... I doubt that a few YT videos using Bob Dylan songs would bankrupt either Dylan or Sony... what the hell is wrong with these people? Dylan should be as accessible as air, and worldwide, for God's sake!
And he can't keep from crying, she was born in Hell's Kitchen, he wonders where in the world she can be, and he's been looking for her clean onto Tennessee, if that wasn't bad enough! At least I'm not going deaf, thanks
"I've sucked the milk out of a thousand cows". I mean, where's his fuckin' Nobel Prize for Christsake?! Should I go to Sweden, take it and give him by myself?
@andreboogie Ooooops! Being an European myself, that's a big mistake! Anyway, I'd go to Sweden, get some stuff at IKEA and then jump to Norway for the Nobel thing...
Fuckin' genius. I woke up with a massive hangover and worried about so many ridiculous things and this shocked me awake and made me feel alive again. You have got to hand it to Bob Dylan.
@SonHouse245 Can't you imagine :~))) No really, in an interview Dylan commented that there is nothing he doesn't like about that girl, knowing fully that he could be her father, agewise. The entire lyrics are reflective.
search it, he admitted he sold his soul and i first thought that he meant GOD but then i was looking at his logo and it had the all seeing eye, that is the symbol of power of the illuminati
most of them do it on purpose and you don't realise it
it's called subliminals
they are everywhere, magazines, music, movies
you see here's how it works
your consious is hearing the artist but your sub consious is hearing the subliminal
If you seek conspiracy, you can find it behind anything. Just like religious people can see signs of God behind ordinary objects (i can't blame them), there are people (like you) who, out of fear, try to see the conspiracy in everything
Bob Dylan's logo doesn't even look like the all-seeing eye.
I believe that the new world order is a real thing, but you're just being delusional
@11joshman I'm not saying that. However it is worth noting that the words "sell", "soul" are not words that he used. To put it specifically, here's what he said:
"I made a bargain with the supreme commander. In this world and a world we can not see."
His end of the bargain was to keep making music, and that's what he does
His 1964 Philharmonic Hall and 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert are also really good live albums, and show just how much Dylan had changed in a relatively short period of time. Only two years separate these concerts, but in the intervening period Dylan had gone electric, the culmination of which is on the 1966 live album with the infamous decry of 'Judas!'
For a time there were recordings from each concert posted on YouTube, but unfortunately they all seem to have now been removed!
@zactwentythree Right on! Those corporate a**holes shouldn't take away his music from his fans or other people who want to listen. WE DID NOTHING WRONG!
it is such an immense feeling to be experiencing Bob Dylan releasing original material. He seems to be most associated with 60's music and articulating what many were feeling way back then but it's so unique to have such well expressed lyrics from someone who has transcended the waves of fashion and transience and outlasted most of his contemporaries.
