I used to work lighting for films, concerts, etc. and I had the priviledge of doing a show for Carl Perkins once. The man was such a gentleman, the eptiome of class and grace. After the show we sat around and had a few beers and he told us some tales of the old days with Elvis, Jerry Lee, Johnny Cash, etc. It was mind blowing! I called him Mr. Perkins, he just laughed and said, 'Call me Carl, son.' What a guy!
@chojuaniche Actually, it's "Music for Montserrat". See the related video: "Golden Slumbers - Carry That Weight - The End", from this same concert. It will bring you to tears.
Montserrat is an island in the eastern Caribbean where Sir George Martin (The Beatles producer) had his Air Recording Studios used by the Stones, Dire Straits, the Police and Elton John. In 1995, a volcanic eruption destroyed the former capital, Plymouth and damaged much of the island. This concert was arranged by George Martin to raise funds to help the islanders recover.
We'll never see the amazing talent assembled here again. Its just incredible watching the caliber of musicians/singers/songwriters that got together for this concert.
I agree absolutely Rockin' Paul is the best! I know alot of people have said that John was the rocker and paul was the sweet love song guy....I don't think so Paul Rocks with the best of them
There are musicians galore here...Elton John, Sting, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins...*.where was Ringo? and the one and only with the best voice...Sir Paul McCartney! Would like to see more of this concert....thank you for posting.
Jools and Elton both fiercely playing opposite each other remind me of Daffy and Donald in Roger Rabbit.
