live!!!! when they came 2 the slidell skatin rink bk n 81 or so, it was on>>>6 tv channels, foosball, pool , space invaders, loud car stereos, an a lil bowl we called happiness an a road trip, you had a great sound crew there zebra, it was the greatest 10 dollars i ever spent ;)
You know this was one of those bands that was what I'd call on the verge - they just never got that one big push to make the big time. They were one of those power trios that managed to sound much bigger than just the three of them. I think part of the problem could be that they had a terrible sound engineer for the albums they did put out. They just sounded flat on record - they were much better live. It's hard to adequately express the power of Randy's voice live.
I'm beginning to think that Material Issue was trying to sound like these guys. I'm not taking anything away from Mat Issue but you gotta agree after listening to this one in particular.. I wish there was new Zebra music.
@karlmoles65 Progressive/alternative. Chicago band late 80's to mid 90's. The last album was The Freak City Soundtrack. Jim committed suicide because of poor sales. The label did NOTHING for promoting ANY of their albums. They were a great group and I miss those guys. They have a few vids on youtube All their music is great and like I said I think was heavily influenced by Zebra and maybe a little bit of The Sweet.
@karlmoles65 That is the main reason most Chitown bands try to get their own label started first before signing with a major label. If you like new bands from the Chicago area, check out Analog Digital Disorder. They are from Lockport Il, about 5 mi. from me. They are GREAT. The videos are ok but they are done by friends helping them out. Another band is Skull King from Joliet Il. and Blacktide from Florida. Get the word out about these 3 bands. They're friends of mine.
Are they in the RR Hall of Fame yet?
