It's not an electric violin - its a regular acoustic with a pickup. You can purchase a pickup for $100 and use it on your regular violin.

^^ oooo he's so cute. ((I give lessons)) The only thing is that if his palm isn't parralel to the fingerboard he won't be able to get the right tone quality or reach higher notes when he needs to. What I normally do is take a sponge, or even a ball of crumpled papre or something and stick it inbetween his palm and the fingerboard until the kid starts to hold the violin/ fiddle like that on his own.
