Good video. Also clearly shows other protesters against the guy (cop?) destroying the car. Not all protesters were vandals, wish others would stop branding every protester as a vandal.
@TorontoRocks2 Since the fellow appears to be an undercover officer, he could probably just go ahead and arrest himself. More efficient that way, and they need to make up some savings after blowing over one billion on costs associated with the summit.
Three cheers to the protestors who are trying to get people to stop. These people are heroes and shinning examples of good protesting. Good on you guys!!!
The reason he opens the car door is so that he can lean his body forward to get better force to try and rock the car. It is simple bio-mechanics. His hands are always at the bottom of the door frame and he doesn't reach under the seat. He also doesn't have anything in his hand. He is definitely not a cop, and to say that he is........well, that's just a cop out. You can't always blame the police.
obviously a COP. since he is performing his duty and following orders he does not have to worry about covering his face. why would a black bloc protester do this without covering his face? it only makes sense that it's an agent provocateur. how very, very sad.
At 02:25, why is he reaching under the cruiser? Is there some sort of safety release for the back doors hidden underneath? Being a vehicle that transports prisoners are they legally required to have an 'emergency release' for cases of rollovers and other such situations where a prisoner cannot escape in a legitimate emergency?
@bobbie4 I called my local police station and I asked about the possibility of a mechanism under the door. They said that nothing like that exists, and I believed him. I think the agent was just reaching down there to act as if he was trying to flip the cruiser. The real suspicious part was when he put his torso inside the back seat.
The people around egging him on make me wonder if any of them are aware of the value of the damage that he is causing, or care. It's just money that could be used for childcare, health, etc....but who cares?. If someone stepped in, it would very quickly have established if he was police or not.
But, we gotta get our pictures to show our friends, right! I was there, doesn't that make me special? Not, I stood up to ensure that my voice wasn't drowned out by the acts of a few thugs.

I used to be of the same thought back in the '90s. There was just no way this could be instigated by the state.
But the the Battle in Seattle, The APEC summit at UBC, and the final straw for me was The SPP summit at Montebello.

The alleged provocateur's face should be plastered all over the Internet to be matched with some corroborating evidence, like the same guy in a police uniform in another context.
If he is a police undercover agent provocateur, proof must be conclusive.
There were some people who were yelling how is this helping us, i believe this shows that most protestors were peaceful and they did try to stop the vandalism, it is truly shameful if the police officers use police provocateurs to instigate vandalism and than use that as an excuse to further crack down and arrest and abuse innocent protestors.

by destroying the police car and wrecking it into pieces, setting it on fire is just the next natural step, we are not saying there were no thugs or everyone is peaceful, but we definately saw some protestors who were resisting against the vandalism, the police officers should be accountable if they were involved in vandalism as well as instigating vandalism

Chief of Police admits to lying about 5 metre rule
When asked today if there actually was a five-metre rule given the ministry's clarification, Blair smiled and said, "No, but I was trying to keep the criminals out."
Even though it wasn't accurate, the public was left to believe the province had given officers the power to demand identification and detain anyone with five-metres of the G20 site.
On the official facebook page of the Toronto Police Service, there his a photo album of pictures TAKEN BY THE POLICE with the title #G20 Queen St W #Toronto Photos. You can see a few pictures taken just before this incident, with the same guy sitting on the top in the same position. First, how come the police was taking pictures but no one was there to make arrestations? Secondly, how come they just show these pictures and not those with the guy destroying the windshield minutes after???
Tell me, at this point, that even a handful of riot cops couldn't have just marched in there and taken those cars back. Over the course of the weekend, they broke up crowds much larger and more active than this. So where the hell were they?
Nice clean-cut buzz cut. No attempt to disguise his identity, even though he knows he is being filmed. Cop backpack and boots.... F***in right he is a police provocateur - wake up all you nay-sayers.
@unionkimpossible I dress the same way but I am not a provocateur. Trust me I believe alot of it was setup. But we need more proof then backpacks, boots and a hair cut. A lot of people where there just to get into as much shit as they can.
If this guy isn't on the news getting charged then we will know he was a provocateur.
@Sneak693 You are right. This is not "proof" in the legal sense. However it is compelling circumstantial evidence. If this guy is not a cop (or an agent of the state, after all they might have learned something after Montebello) then I stand corrected. However I have been around enough cops, anarchists, and garden variety troublemakers to differentiate.
In the end I like your test of veracity.
And sometimes I also dress like that. But trust me, you would know I'm not a cop.
@Humberto61 100% argee with you. You can see it in his face.
I want these people who go around causing this unnecessary destruction just to have a reason to crack down on the protesters out in the open and brought to justice by the people. That is the reason why I seek evidence for those who need it before they open their eyes to whats going on.
@unionkimpossible do you realize that this is exactly what they want!? for us to fear each other and be paranoid about every movement so that they can do whtvr the fuck they want with us! the truth is when you don't have full evidence and start name calling people with no actual evidence of wether he is a provocateur or political activist you enslave yourself by making them think they are more powerful. This man by the way was not a cop the evidence has been looked at.
If I was an anarchist/black bloc tactic user/anti-cop, I would also want people to think the cops were starting the violence. Does that sound about right?
Undercover cops do not wear police gear while being undercover, that is just ridiculous. People pull too much crap out of crappy videos.
the undercover cops trying to incite violence at the Montebello demonstration were clearly wearing police-issue boots. watch the videos of their "arrests". this is not paranoia or jumping to conclusions, they admitted they were undercover cops, and they were wearing the exact same boots as the cops who arrested them. coincidence? maybe, but it's too convenient otherwise.
20 Bucks says that guy smashing the windows that I'm guessing the poster implies is a cop, is actually one of these "black block" idiots that was responsible for the majority of the problems.
Judicious use of Spectacle keeps the peasantry both entertained and fearful.
I wonder how so many unreasonable people can be deployed with such efficiency as to constitute an organized assault on Toronto's police. The simplest explanation here is akin to an army of agents provocateur, deployed to effect 3 goals:
1. Take media attention off the legitimate protests.
2. Incite protesters to violence.
3. If #2 fails, at least you've got a small army of "protesters" looking like animals on camera.
I would like to see proof that the antagonist in the jeans. black jacket, shoes and backpack was not in fact a cop ( agent provocateur ). Someone please find him, out him and shame the use of these tactics to entice otherwise peaceful protesters to resort to mob mentality to enable the government to justify it's security costs for the G20/G8.
@Jeeperrandy This is a great example of the pathetic lack of informed reasoning that is displayed by almost everyone responding to this post. No one has to prove that he ISN'T a cop - you have to prove that he IS! YOU'RE the one making the accusation! What proof do you have? None! You just assume that if you think it, it must be true! A lot of innocent people have been lynched and burned because of reasoning like that. Guilty till proven innocent! Who's the real Fascists here?
@Jeeperrandy This is just proving my point. It is not "enough said". Are you seriously arguing that an event in another province from three years ago that you've only heard about proves that some punk in a youtube video from Toronto in 2010 smashing a cop car can only be a cop? There's no other possible conclusion to draw? Really? How can that kind of lazy reasoning be described as anything but pathetic?
@bobflea The only counter argument to this will be the identification and arrest and trial of the person in black who jumped on the abandoned police vehicle so that we can all know why he and his buddies were there causing trouble in defiance of all the other legitimate protesters.
@Jeeperrandy To be honest, I'm not arguing whether he is or is not a cop - though frankly the most plausible answer to your question is that he's just a punk who likes smashing things. What I'm taking issue with is people who are clearly demonstrating total contempt for objectivity, lazy reasoning, no interest in examining their own biases and how those biases shape the conclusions they draw - all the while being absolutely certain that they are the one's who have everything figured out.
@bobflea Understandable. I seek the truth as well. Check out the video 'G20 epic undercover police fail'. It was shot at the last G20 in Pittsburg 2009. The suspected officers don't even try to refute the throngs who have pointed them out. As for the guy in this video, I worked many years as a corrections officer and bailiff and I've met hundreds of police officers. This guy very much looks like a cop to me. I'm just sayin'.
@Jeeperrandy I would like to see proof that he is a police officer. There is no compelling evidence here. Having a similar backpack isn't going to cut it.
I think your tinfoil hat is slipping off your head, Humberto61
@Jeeperrandy his picture is being circulated on the most wanted list if around 21 people. At the press conference Toronto Police addressed that he is not a police officer as according to many of the online rumors. I guess since Quebec a violent protester is considered provocateur unless proof of the otherwise. I don't think he has been identified or arrested yet.
TPD cars 3251 and 766 have no business being on the same street together. They must have used these vehicles because they were problematic in one way or another. I guess nobody wanted to donate their Dodge Charger for this show.

People pull too much crap out of crappy videos.
dustmonk 1 year ago
@dustmonk
the undercover cops trying to incite violence at the Montebello demonstration were clearly wearing police-issue boots. watch the videos of their "arrests". this is not paranoia or jumping to conclusions, they admitted they were undercover cops, and they were wearing the exact same boots as the cops who arrested them. coincidence? maybe, but it's too convenient otherwise.

People should have made citizen arrests.

20 Bucks says that guy smashing the windows that I'm guessing the poster implies is a cop, is actually one of these "black block" idiots that was responsible for the majority of the problems.

I agree with the woman asking the clearly rhetorical question : "How is this constructive?"

@bobflea
"...pathetic lack of informed reasoning... " ??? Montebello; Quebec, 2007.
Enough said.
Jeeperrandy 1 year ago

Jeeperrandy 1 year ago
@Jeeperrandy To be honest, I'm not arguing whether he is or is not a cop - though frankly the most plausible answer to your question is that he's just a punk who likes smashing things. What I'm taking issue with is people who are clearly demonstrating total contempt for objectivity, lazy reasoning, no interest in examining their own biases and how those biases shape the conclusions they draw - all the while being absolutely certain that they are the one's who have everything figured out.
bobflea 1 year ago
@bobflea Understandable. I seek the truth as well. Check out the video 'G20 epic undercover police fail'. It was shot at the last G20 in Pittsburg 2009. The suspected officers don't even try to refute the throngs who have pointed them out. As for the guy in this video, I worked many years as a corrections officer and bailiff and I've met hundreds of police officers. This guy very much looks like a cop to me. I'm just sayin'.
Jeeperrandy 1 year ago
@Jeeperrandy I would like to see proof that he is a police officer. There is no compelling evidence here. Having a similar backpack isn't going to cut it.

Montebello all over again.

Why was that cop smashing the window of a cop car?
Nancysissypants 1 year ago 3
Where were the Police Officers responsible for these vehicles? Tax payers are on the hook for replacing those cruisers. They are NOT cheap.
