@godgunsncountry AHHHHH NOOOOOO! This is the worst thing anyone has ever said. Bassoon is difficult because it's WOOD beautiful rich wood and double reed- lots of wood. Not scratchy and ugly like a multitude of saxophone music! Sax sounds like scratchy strings and if in the higher range of alto or all of soprano, then it sounds like a crappy clarinet. It's because sax has a metal body and plastic mouth piece. It takes away all the difficulty and replaces tone quality with crap.

Jazz sax is horrible because it sacrifices ALL tone quality for the feeling of the music- it's too drastic to be enjoyable. But, I do think that classical saxophone should be studied much more extensively because a really good saxophonist can sound like almost any instrument. It's so elusive. End of rant.

ahh man i need a new bassoon, my sucks, a spring popped out but i put it back in and none of the higher register would work, i don't have a lock, or a high d key or the extra key for d to c trill.
beautiful rosewood bassoon, at least it looks like rosewood, you sound very good, all these people are pretty dumb and probably have very little experience with the bassoon, this one sounds very nice and the intonation was not the bad at all. The vibrato was very clean. All in a short clip too. Bravo. The rest of u people learn something about music before you talk.

Hm... the beginning was flat. And this was a sucky video. If you're gonna try out the bassoon, try NOT to tape it. Save that for when you can actually PLAY a few notes of it.
Damn it... after two years, my tone sounds like farts... all because I was taught the wrong embouchure... also a question for the experts... how far should the lips curve in when forming a bassoon embouchure? Should one take in more reed or less reed? 'Cause my tutor taught me to take in the least reed as possible, and the tone sucks...
your tutor is wrong, what i reccommend is that you find a comfortableway to play your reed, least reed will just sound like crap, i know it will be hard to get your embachore right at first, but i had to self-teach myself and i found what works, any other questions just ask

dude, it will take longer then 3 months to get a good tone, you will have to learn alot of control and have a good amount of expirience to get a good tone, be patient and work on it bassoon is a hard insturment it takes time
Sax is the woodwind god, for a fraction of the effort. If effort is all you judge this by, then buy a $200 e-Bay bassoon and become great with it.

@kltxo its just your model. schreiber has many higher end models that have the the d trill and high d key and play beautifully.

Why do you have to learn the bassoon in three months? And have you played any instrument before?
My advice is to open the back of the mouth, suck in the front, and pray to God you remember the fingerings. :)

If you put your index finger between the first and second wires, and put the reed in your mouth, your top lip should just touch your finger.
