  • Can't understand why someone would call this video "hilarious."

    mcp

  • Oh for the good old days

  • This sucks! It's not funny at all.

  • Having worked on this editing project 20 years ago, I will say it was refreshing to see it again, and cut so brilliantly.

  • That was mean and nasty and disrepectful of women. And I laughed my head off.

  • Lmao XD

  • Wait till Miss Kitty hears about this!!

  • what a stupid pointless dunnowhat

  • well here, at least the acting is better law and order has about as much feeling as stale bread.

  • i was too busy cutting eco challenge to do anything this fun. i love how the dude turns into jack klugman at the end!!

  • This is priceless!!

  • Bravo!!! Good for Marshall Dillon. This is how is was intended to be in the world by God and nature, but woman has perverted the natural order of things because of weak ass men in positions of influence and political power.

  • I need to look up hilarious in the dictionary. I thought it meant 'funny'.

  • There are still too many men in America like that devil. They are sadists with small willies.

  • So, whats the problem? By morning they will be in love again.

  • I too am editing this for film class, your version is hilarious! Bravo.

  • Thank you marshall Dillon for setting things straight.

  • I'm not seeing the humor. There was a joke in there?

  • I had to do this project at Baylor. Watching this after looking through the monotonous footage for hours had me in stitches

  • that was awesom!

  • Nah, using humor as a vehicle for a political or social message takes all the laugh out of it. In those days women had to face up to their physical shortcomings in a hard world. It would have done no good to legislate their equality, because unlike today they would be reminded daily that they really were not the equals of men. Nothing like reality to undeceive a myth.

  • 69 views are wife-beaters

  • This is not hilarious.

  • that was awesome.

  • ...and he's a Mormon.

  • if exist in the future a machine for go to the past, I will back to the old west. :-)

  • jajajajajajajajaja good edition of three episodes jajajajajaja the correct episode it's in this video... youtube.com/watch?v=3lnKG_DvAho&NR=1&feature=fvwp

    jajajajajajjaajaja

  • Hilarious only if you have a sick and twisted sense of humor. You find beating up a woman and throwing her in the back of a wagon like a bag of trash to be hilarious? I feel very sorry for you.

  • @southernrockdrummer i never liked gunsmoke it has too much sick violence and police brutality [ arnuss is out of proportion and control compared to the other weak actors ] at least the rifleman kills people for a reason

  • @spacepatrolman Based on your description, I doubt you have ever seen a Gunsmoke episode. I grew up watching Gunsmoke and hardly saw what you described.

  • @southernrockdrummer i have seen episodes but i try to avoid watching them

  • @spacepatrolman the radio version was better

  • @spacepatrolman Well there are always Disney movies like the Little Mermaid or Finding Nemo if they are too violent for you.

  • @southernrockdrummer There is nothing wrong with disney movies they did the animation in forbidden planet but im more into european movies

  • Not a funny scene.

It has nothing to do with the actors, though.

But remember that some women were really treated this way in the 1870's.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • @GeorgeVreelandHill Some still are today.

  • that was totally disgusting! gunsmoke and james arness both went down a whole lot in my estimation. and for the record, men dont hit women, cowards do. there was nothing FUNNY about this scene...

  • Comment removed

  • @bk2158 This video is not an accurate clip from the Gunsmoke series. These clips from Gunsmoke were edited together to create a video some people might find as a funny , and others offensive, but it bears no resemblance to the original story line in the series. . Matt Dillons reaction to this problem would be nothing like this edited together video.

  • Old American tradition? ....:-))))

  • What was hilarious about that? NOT!!

  • hes a marshell not a sheriff

  • Well done. I think it's a lot harder to edit something to make it funny when it wasn't intended to be.

  • a man beating on a woman, yeah that's Hilarious

  • Hilarious! Times have changed, but not for the better in some cases. :(

  • What is the point in uploading that? It's bollocks

  • Odd, I didn`t think it was that funny...

  • Whatever.

  • This is hillarious....too bad we can't treat women that way anymore, we might have fewer crazy out of control bitches if we could!

  • They should have made the idiot that slapped the girl where a wife beater muscle shirt

  • Matt Dillon would have never allowed that. He would have beat than man to a pulp. This is not funny!

  • @FlygirlTerra Yes it is.

  • I'm a girl and I thought this was genuinely funny, do you seriously think this guy made this video just to insult people? really some of us just need to grow a funny bone.

  • @pole52 suffer abuse much?

  • @godforge2003 uhh.. "no" never been abused before in my life, I just know when to take something serious and when not to.

  • I personally don't see much humor in it. I get your point, but it's still not funny.

  • Haha! Loved it :D

  • here's the orginal Gunsmoke scene:

    watch?v=OImFzvZXz_4

  • bullets out of babies...in the middle of the night! LMAO! great line

  • Brilliant!!! I love the way they all walk off and ignore the punches and scream awesome!!!!

  • Great job! I thought this was really hilarious editing.

  • 1:14!!! oh yeaaa

  • THIS ONE IS THE BEST OF THE BUNCH !

  • i thought my version was funny, but this one is hilarious!

funny that edit classes all over the world use these clips :)

  • John Anderson appeared in Gunsmoke 12 times plus a heap of TV westerns from the '50s ans early '60s.

  • That bad guy is car dealer California Charlie/ John Anderson from Psycho (1960).

  • is that Mel Gibson?

  • Omfg this is great!!

  • O, uhm ... 'scuse me. I see I've entered the neanderthal zone. I'll be on my way. Bye boys, er, men. I mean " tough guys."

  • I didn't see that ending coming...

  • Most women in that time needed a man for protection .There was very little law around and they did not get into domestic situations. If you killed your wife you just got hung and that was it.

  • @worseto That's the way it should be still today. You kill somebody, we'll put you out in the street so everyone can watch the hanging.

  • @arepadetrigo @arepadetrigo i am not a punk and i also think this was kinda funny for gunsmoke which was and still is a gret western show today besides bonanza and the rifleman james arnes and chuck conners made great westerns, i have talked with chuck conners own son, who is a singer but not to famous more in the band of ther group different groups he plays for a realy nice guy who is the real son of chuck conners from his first marriage and yes the part in gunsmoke was funny

  • LMAO!!!

  • If I was there I would have shot that man!!!!!!!

  • ha freakin sweet

  • That'll teach her to back talk a man

  • that's not funny :(

  • Funny if you have never been hit by anyone ...

but a valid point made all the same..

    Jp

  • Shameful and stupid.

  • @SuperDelicate YES IT IS I WISH I WAS IN TOWN THAT DAY

  • This was a man's world till that little slut Eve showed up. Tsk, Tsk.

  • i think this is extremely hilarious cos im working on the same scene and practically know it off by heart xD

  • You gotta love it: back then them hombres know how to keep the bitches in their places -- including the back of the wagon. How the west was won...

  • I had to edit this a couple years ago for class too- I still remember every line. This edit is pure brilliance. I especially enjoyed "digging bullets out of babies". Subtle.

  • I love this version, good job

  • I did this same exersize in editing class 30 years ago!

  • @leetitone

    how did it go?

my edit isnt going that well but thats prob because I hate editing

  • I did this at least 12 years ago. Don't miss it but it brought back memories.

  • Why didn't McCloud do something?

  • That's just so wrong.

  • catatonic 686 how appropriate your username is- so you love the idea of women being beaten. What else do approve of, child molestation? Animal cruelty? What a treat it must be to be one of your friends or relatives, poor things.

  • hahaha great

  • I think it's funny! Bitch should have held her tongue. That's what more women need now days, a good beating to keep them in compliance. While we are at it, revoking their right to vote and drive would be a good idea as well.

  • You think this is funny? What a coward punk you must be.

  • @arepadetrigo Fuck yes I think it's funny 'coz it is. It's a funny edit, it's not real, it's humor (Google "Humor") ... loosen up your fucking sphincter and chuckle ... or have a stroke, I don't care.

  • @arepadetrigo i am not a punk and i also think this was kinda funny for gunsmoke which was and still is a gret western show today besides bonanza and the rifleman james arnes and chuck conners made great westerns, i have talked with chuck conners own son, who is a singer but not to famous more in the band of ther group different groups he plays for a realy nice guy who is the real son of chuck conners from his first marriage and yes the part in gunsmoke was funny

  • hahahahah i had to edit this as an assignment. seeing this killlls me.

  • I was once at some presentation where these gals were up there talking about women's rights and equality, and this friend next to me raises his hand and asked "Does that mean that if you hit us we can now hit you back just as hard?' No one laughed, and they all stared daggers at us. I didn't even ask the question but I was figuring, well, they'll shoot at him and hit me instead. Or when we walk out there's gonna be like twenty big girls outside with brass knuckles and pipes.

  • Holy Crap! So it wasn't just my school that used the raw footage from this scene for an edit assignment! It's all of them!

    LoL on this edit!

  • who did this? all the fans of the show know what really happened, dillion kicked the s*";3# out of this guy for slaping this lady around.

  • Then there are guys who take shit from their women (Physical and verbal) and get laughed out of town when they try to get help with it. They deal with it themselves and get thrown in jail. Is it a wonder that so many men just walk away.

  • LMAO - too funny..

Get over here bitch -- slap ,whap ..drag her ass in the wagon.. that was some funny ass editing .

especially dillon .chester and doc walking away while she was getting the crap beat out of her.

i dont know why people are getting upset .especially when it's edited as you know dillon came to her rescue after that guy slapped her and he beat that guy to a pulp and his buddy dragged his ass into the wagon .you can see plainly its a guy being dragged into the wagon//

  • if your comedy isn't pissing someone off, it isn't funny enough! nice work pilgrim! btw my "comedy" was so "hilarious", it earned me an 'Ex Parte'. You learn new words as you get older, like, 'ex parte'

  • LMAO i just finished my gunsmoke edit

  • There's nothing funny or "get over it" about violence against women. Perhaps all those who do need to visit/volunteer at a women's shelter and see how many have been abused and live in fear. Their children as well. But then again, you are an abuser yourself.

  • I didn't find it funny, either, but the "feminist" extremist who's logged several clones in here to complain isn't doing the "cause" any good.

  • where is the hilarious moment in that? As a feminist I am highly disgusted by that, and if my boyfriend tried that crap on me, he'd be in behind bars. That kind of stuff is not to be joked about.

  • Considering that men kill each other in gun fights at high noon on main street this really is delicate treatment of women! The women in those days were some badass babes. I think the men were a lot tougher then also. Cowards and sissys seem to be the rule these days Actually the scene shown was probably considered foreplay to the sheriff We may look back some day and think that yelling is cruel treatment or mind manipulation is disgraceful which we think is acceptable today LOL

  • Do the assignment and you will understand why this is so funny xD

  • its ABBY not DEBBIE BTW

  • The reason its hilarious is if you ever had to do this project. i just got done editing this for school and i gotta say this is hilarious making the sheriff let her go HAHAHAAH good job man!

  • I have yet to see the hilarious part. If you've ever been abused, this is not funny. If you've NEVER been abused, this is not funny.

  • My wife (also named Debbie) wouldn't put uo with this shit with me!

  • Being a guy, I found that clip rather pathetic. I'm still waiting for the "hilarious" part.

  • this is very sad--no matter what the woman done--she didn't deserve to be slapped around--and only STU-PID minds would laugh at such a thing--we women still have a long way to go in educating the neanderthal(cavemen) minds that would find humor in this piece ot shit!

  • This is a scene that universities use to introduce students to Final Cut Pro editing software, the kid was having some fun with the edit. The film itself is sexist, the guy/girl who edited the scene was making a joke. Calm down people fuck.

  • @isgoanrain I had this Gunsmoke episode for a Editing class project in AVID as well! HE-HE!

  • Ahhhh, Them's was the days.

  • disgraceful.

    funny!

  • i don't know--i like james arness as matt dillion--but i'm apalled at the handling of that woman -by that creepy guy! now if that had of been Paladin-or Cheyenne---Paladin would of beat that guy's brains out for slapping that woman-Cheyenne would have knocked him out --too--this aint no comedy-and dillion should have helped that woman!

  • After working with these clips after 2 days, me and my class laughed so hard after the teacher showing us your clip. I would never have thought of this.

  • I take issue with the premise of the video. No doubt a lot of women were abused in the frontier west -- as everywhere -- but the region stands out in US history for recognizing women's rights before others. There were relatively few women there, and their various skills were needed and valued. Abused women could more easily find more protective men than further east; voting (and easier divorce) rights appeared first in the new western territories.

  • Actually the biggest impact that the scarcity of women had in the 19th century west was the proliferation of brothels.

My understanding is that it wasn't until the very end of the 1800s that the number of women and "reform-minded" men reached the critical mass needed to make life more tolerable for women in most of these towns.

  • I'm appalled. As soon as I read this is an example of a college class assignment, I understood.

    what garbage.

  • HMmmmm.... Cavemen dressed up as cowboys.

  • i had to do the same assignment in my film class. this is by far the most genius interpretation i have seen of it. i have watched this vid several times but it never fails to amuse.

  • Very good and creative editing.

  • Judging by the responses here, I'd say that irony has, in fact, been all but excised from contemporary politically correct thinking....Is that a good thing?

  • I'm sorry but there is nothing whatsoever funny in this. Disgusting and degrading to women is all this is.

  • I didn't think this was hilarious in any shape or form! Nust be real damned funny to all you guys that HIT women, I saw NOTHING funny about this, except someone missed some lines or didn't step in and help her or teach that dude a lesson in manners in treating women!

  • oh my god! that was soo terrible but uproariously funny!

  • How is it funny again...? I missed that part.

  • I'm unamused....

  • If you don't see anything wrong with this, then there's something wrong with you. I don't know whether you're just a young immature kid or you have potential to be a sociopath.

  • NOthing hilarous about that!!

  • Very Professional editing! Laughed myself sick.

  • LOL i did this for my class in march. Mine was the funniest out of the lot, but compared to your's and all the video responses, mine is NOTHING

  • I also had to edit this as a class exercise. I graduated from Art Center in Pasadena. Your version was hilarious!! I was like, "Wait a sec...there's something missing. He didn't say his line, 'I'm gonna teach you a lesson.'

  • I would never have guessed you were educated... in one line your education is canceled out as non-existant. It takes brains to see nothing was funny about this clip, just something obviously wrong with the minds that make this crap.

  • horseshit

  • I cant believe everyone has to do this for editing i thought it was just my crazy edit teacher who made us

  • Lol, crazy edit teachers seem to be a common thing... after seeing this I can no longer take this excercise seriously, I want to turn it into a parody.

  • I never met a dame who didnt understand a slap in the pus or a slug from a 45.

  • i have to do this project for class also...that girl's footage was so hard to edit in..everyone was going nuts!

  • dude the girl is pretty easy what was hard about it?

  • I think he meant annoying, not hard. ^_^

  • HAHAHA! IT's womens history month also. HAHAHA!

  • you are awesome

  • Bitch couldn't even vote for another 50 years, in the wagon with the dogs.... Oh those were the days, when life was just a slap away from all your problems being work out.

  • OMG! This was so funny!! Thanks for posting,

  • Haha! Great stuff! Well done!

  • yhis is great, i had to edit this sequesne when i was in intro and this was way beter than what i did. Im not sure about the voilence against wemon, but i still think its funny XD

  • "Digging bullets out of babies!" This is the very best edit! Heeheehee!

  • Please...remember to take this tounge in cheek - in the context it was originally meant to be taken...hell, I remember seeing this when it originally aired!!!! Dahm, I'm old !!!

  • lmfao...that's was a kick-ass edit. big ups!!

  • That's got to be on the best out of context video edits ever

  • mines pretty good too, not quite as good as yours though.. check it out.

  • James Arness SUCKS.

  • Yes!! FUCK that's great! That's editing!

  • a you kidding? that was brilliant and so so funny. Thanks

  • So, is Dennis Weaver the town idiot?

  • AHAHAHA omg yes!

This is a clever take on the infamous "gunsmoke" project. Well done!

  • So is thats the way you deal with a woman who cheats ?

  • Freakin A+ Sir, that was great, I think im going to show that to my dad, it will be worth it to see the confused look on his face.

  • Outstanding job! Our editing instructor actually showed this piece in class today as an example and we all (women included!) loved it!

  • Very true.

  • Thats right. Turns out it was one of their own(a teenage moslem) who took it with him in the bathroom and dropped it. Naturally the moslem world wanted to blame us for their mistakes without investigation. Yet they don't mind defaming our bible. Hypocrits!

  • Wow, so many people taking this out of context.

Hilarious edit of an otherwise "standard" scene. I just finished a version of it for my class using some of the same techniques (audio editing Doc's voice, haha); our instructor laughed her ass off for the rest of the scene.

  • That's how your supposed to treat women. Smackem and rackem.

  • What "so called desecration of the Quoran" are your referring to? The cartoons published in the Danish newspapers?

  • There's two people that should be eliminated from this world.

    A) People who hurt others by various means.

    B) People who can't take a joke.

    You're a fucking idiot.

  • Horrible analogy. What you are endorsing, or at least accepting, is an argument for censorship. That isn't one of your cherished lessons of American history, which is embodied in the First Amendment. Funny thing is, the Iranians think the same way as you, and use moral police to ensure that the "right" ideas are inculcated in their people. And we know how well women are treated in that society... But we shouldn't discuss this openly. History shows dissent and free discussion leads to nothing.
