The reason this one was the best it's becuase they actually put in loads of animations and perfected gameplay. The newer games just have new story modes and the new moves that are put in are garbage. Instead of expanding they redused the moves. Idiots they should have kept the ball rolling by improving the gamplay aspects

This game is far superior to anything else that's come out since. The graphics might be a little dated but the gameplay and controls are spot on. The game is just fun and easy to pick up and play and I think that's what the latest wrestling games lack.

@TheStarfox187 HCTP has better graphics and quite a few WCW wrestlers (Goldberg, Kevin Nash, etc. [excluding Hulk Hogan] ). SYM has better Story Mode and WCW wrestlers that aren't in HCTP (Xpac, Hulk Hogan, etc). Hard to say which one is best as I like them both. Still own both :)

as long as ive had this game, i've always wondered how deep the season modes go. ive never done more than two season modes with the same wrestler, is there a point where you could get your wrestler to become an actual legend? i know this game has so many hiden things and ect.....but is that possible? anyone know?

1 of the reasons why this game is so damn good is because it's a wrestling game not made to be too realistic. It's kept like a game. Fast paced, unrealistic activity in some match types, graphics aren't TOO concentrated on.

Nowadays they focus on making it too much like real life. Few match types (only the ones you see on tv now) and you can't have superstar vs diva. Not to mention it's all much too slow paced now and they've kept to the same game engine for the past 4 years!

awesome game but the high amount of reversals were outrageous, considering the lack of reversal animations. on smackdown difficulty or 2 player, most of the match was spent reversing initial grapples with a generic knee to midsection.
