i think u should watch blue exorcist/ao no exorcist its about twin brothers who are the offsprings of satan and the eldest brother(rin) doesn't know about it but his younger brother(yukio/yuki-chan) does and their adoptive father is the highest ranking exorcist (like hokage) . when rin finds out about the demons in the world around him his "father" is killed by satan and rin is the one who inherited satan's power.

I'm talking things like Cowboy Bebop or Ghost in the Shell are at its level(in both quality and level of animation), only the truly best of the best like Legend of the Galactic Heroes beats it in quality.

Never heard of Galactic Heroes, but regarding it's rating in MAL, 9.2, which caught my eye, it's a hell of a series, Ghost in the Shell never called my attention, but several people claim that it is excellent. Cowboy Bebop, I've watched it, and enjoyed it to the max extent... Pity that the anime never finished to the manga level....

Anyways, you need to consider that we are talking here about USA, whose animations generally suck... Avatar is a huge milestone for them.

@superjosereborn2 True, although it's kinda more Korean than American, since the animation team is Korean and they really put their all into the show. If they hadn't cared as much as they did, ATLA would've been just another american cartoon, albeit with a great story.

You should probably watch LOGH. It's easily the greatest anime ever made, from a quality aspect, as well as storyline, characters, length, the designs of vehicles and spaceships, everything.

And anime somehow gets a pass for animation quality, yet often has far, far worse animation than most western stuff. Only the big budget stuff has the great animation, most of Gainax's shows for example. When you look at shows like Naruto, One Piece(much as I love OP, the animation is fucking awful), Bleach, other long-running shows, it's really obvious. What probably tricks people is that most episodes will have a few scenes of INCREDIBLE animation, but the rest will be mediocre or horrible.
