i am afghan living in greece...and i realy proud of mister KHALED HOUSSEINI..i wish that one day every one be like KHALED HOUSSEINI in afghanistan..but not like fucking taliban.......
what's wrong with you pakistanis lightoffire? why don't you go back to your pashtoonistan pakistan and live in your caves in Tora Bora, you donkeis have fucked up our country since you bastard pakis have taken over our country with the help of British since 1848. you bastards use our language and then deny it to the world. tell me one of your leader who could speak his own language? all the leaders you have had and will have will always speak persian. you paki harami
Whats so good about seeing what happens on the news to them, so you can say "oh poor them :(" ?
At least Khaled is letting people know whats going on and helping people understand their lives along with teaching important life lessons. xbond, you should read his books... or read in general.
Besides, I don't see you helping them, Khaled helps them more than you and most Americans.
Clearly you have not read the book. When Hosseini speaks of "a love story," he refers to a friendship, a mother-daughter bond. Also, Hosseini has done what a writer can for the Afghanis by humanizing them and telling their story to millions of people. Your cynicism is not warranted here.
Obviously I heard about the book from this video. Why a nation has to be humanized in order for people to pay attention to their problems? News is not enough for you? or it's too boring, eh? Do you have to be told that mothers love their daughters in Afghanistan in a fancy book? so that you really believe that they are human beings and they have feeling? Maybe it the ignorant people like you that I hate not the guy who makes money off you.
Absolutely people have to be humanized for others to identify with them and their cause. You cannot honestly say that this is not true for you, as well. What have you done for the people in Sudan, the Iraqis, the Tibetans, the local person in the news whose child is dead or missing? A book, such as Hosseini's, personalizes what is so outside the realm of everyday life for most people and can move them to do more than just wring their hands or shake their heads.
People's attention in the West really dosn't help Afghanistan. Of course, it's gona bring some tears in their eyes for a second, but at the end of the day they're gona vote for someone who's got the best tax plan policy. So what's important is that does Afghanistan need this movie which is about a Pashtun raping a Hazara? does it help the divided nation? NO. Eventhough they're not going to show it in Afghanistan, but eventually it'll get there and then you'll see the real results.
xbond, i do understand it will refresh some old wounds of hazaras and pashtoons, but if you look at the bigger picture, there is a message being sent. and that message is very clear if u read the book or watch the movie-of course if you have sense of understanding!!
"The Kite Runner" is a very touching story. It's truely moving and it gives a sence of nostalgy .. not only for the Afghanistan that used to be but also for the Iraq that used to be and the Palastine that used to be..

3:Respect the human rights and work for human rights.
4:equality of man and women.
5:Afghanistan for all afganistani (tajiks,uzbek,hazera.......)not only moinerity pashtoons.

This book is remarkable.
Hosseini's books make you seriously think about how much we take freedom and the choices we are allowed to make in our lives for granted.
Both his books, especially this one have made me and my english teacher cry :)
Can't wait for the next book from him.
