  • Chills everytime i hear the opening riffs, amazing!

  • 5:40 is sick

  • haha 'Thank you so much' haha he's soooo much Stevie Ray Vaughan, damn i love his music!!

  • Listen and let the man play, he is a great blues player with some nice jazz overtones,,,and yes, I agree, one note played well can be just as powerful as 100 at the speed of sound,,,his pop stuff doesn't let him cut loose like his blues material,,,Keep playin' those blues john

  • mayer pls make a concert here in the philippines

  • that's a concert worth watching..=)

  • he knows where to put the music notes... in the right place, in the right momment...This is sure more memorable than 10.000 notes in 5 minutes.

  • I used to hate him. Now I love him. He is one of the best guitar players in the past 50 years EASY. He stands right up there with Clapton, Buddy, BB, SRV, Slash, Wylde, Johnson, etc.

Why? Because he is incredibly expressive through his guitar.

Most badass players blow him away technically, but they are forgotten quickly.

ONE well placed expressive note, held out for 20 seconds can be more memorable than 10,000 notes in 5 minutes.

John gives me goosebumps when he plays.

  • I think most people watching this video think he is a great guitarist so no real need for the condescending explanation.

  • let's all thank god he got famous for making pop songs because now that puts him in prime position to put blues in the spotlight once again. too many have forgotten what raw emotion flows through those electrified blues scales. thanks, john, for helping us remember

  • nice one dude! "Raw emotion"

  • benandthecat listen he is not the best guitarist that ever lived but for this generation he is one of the best, he's bringing blues back in a different form go lisen to try! and continuum

  • Enough of this nonsense. Mayer is a good guitarist. Plays with style and finesse and is really a very creative melting pot. But by NO MEANS is he anywhere near the greatest guitarist ever. Thats such a narrow minded thing to say. Im sure he is probably in the top 10,000 in the world but for god sake im also sure there are 1000s more bedroom guitarists out there far better. He writes damn good pop songs and has a shrewd mind for this stuff but thats it

  • in all honesty i dont think that you can judge the best guitarist ever it all comes down to opinion at the end of the day but in my opinion he is one of the best in this generation like its not just his blues stuff he's got an uncanny way of playing the most technical riffs and just makin them seem easy like the live version of neon on here also he has complex rythem when he sings

  • well theres probably tons of "bedroom guitarists" who are better than clapton and srv and all the other legends.

  • I wonder why you bother coming around if you hate the guy so much or think he has no talent, etc..

  • dude ya cant write music like this without sincerity he's the best of this generation he's bringing blues back i can sense your stuborness though

  • I confess I am stubborn on this and will never like or appreciate Mayer, cos I have taken an instant, irrational and personal dislike to him. Maybe it's something to do with the female comments that paint him as some kind of smooth pop celebrity who cannot be taken seriously. Rightly or wrongly that's my gut reaction, and it is seldom wrong.

  • I feel sooo sorry for you. You are missing out big time! CONTINUUM IS ONE OF THE GREATEST EVER CD'S OF OUR TIME!

  • I think John Mayer is the best guitarist who has ever lived. I love him soooo much and evrything he does is amazing. He should be canonized by the Pope and given a knighthood by the Queen. He sings better than Ray Charles or Elvis or any old crap like that. I want to have his babies and wash his kegs every day.

  • John is the guitarist he is because of guys like eric, jimi, and of course stevie(who he worships.Obviously its an opinion, but he is NOT the greatest guitarist who ever lived!

  • If you read my comment closely, you will see that I am taking the piss. Of course he is not the greatest guitarist, it is all the soppy female fans who want his baby and want to wash his soiled underwear that I am getting at. The man is an overrated case of the Emperor's new clothes. Wise up mcdeals87.

  • If eric clapton takes you under his wing, you have to be pretty good. As far as being overrated, eveyone is to some degree, it depends who you listen too. When he gets props from guys like B.B King, Buddy and Eric, I think they know what their talking about.

  • you just contradicted yourself

"obviously its an opinion but he's not the greatest guitarist that ever lived"

there can never be a greatest guitarist that ever lived because greatness itself is an opinion you cant have a wrong opinion

  • thats crap there is no way he is better than jimi

  • why is everyone arguing about this its nonsense who cares people like him for a reason so

  • because he is handsome, he made big bucks doing pop songs that my, your , their, young sisters, daughters;;;;;; like very much. Then how can one not tell he is or will be a great guitar player .Made soring fingers listening SRV , plays Hendrix covers with a TRUCK LOAD of EMOTIONS. And now he owns some of thebest guitar amplifiers in the whole human world and knows how to make them wail.

To put all this in one word i'll say :

    Jealousy........................

    Count me in for supporting

  • thats exactly it jealousy i mean he didn't choose to write pop songs you write wat inspires you it just so happens to be inspired by that kinda music the guy is great no contest even such simple riffs like the main one in here if any of you half witts can write anything as penatrating as that be my guessed and let me know cause il shake your jealous ass hand

  • JM is in my opinion the best modern musician...ill still listen to him when im 80

  • Yes, I must concur. He can play his Jimi and sings twice as well.

  • i love this song and him too.

he needs a new video he should

    make one for this song.

best song the album love it.

  • check out my John Mayer videos from the world's largest music festival (Summerfest)from july 3, 2007

  • very cool

  • love.this.song.

  • Hmm. I think JM tries a little too much improvisation on his voice and guitar here. On the solo, it's tough... cause hes trying to do variations on what is already an amazing solo. Anyways... still a solid job. It is JM afterall.

  • my sons will listen to John.

  • YUMMY!!!!

  • this gives me chills i can't wait to see him in oklahoma

  • of the whole show*

  • anyone know where i can get the full video??

  • It was such a beautiful show!! This is my favorite song! We got lucky that day... the weather was wonderful!

  • thank god for the camera men :]
