Having grown up in an abusive home and having done years of therapy to recover from it, I can't look upon my parents as monsters. They are sick human beings and they should not have had kids. I'm also feel strongly that they are mentally ill and there are treatments available today that might have helped them back then. The abusers often need as much help as their poor kids
it can happen. My daughter was in danger of it this year. She had to see a psychologist, welfare officer, doctor and pediatrician. She has since been diagnosed with a disorder.

This is NOT the way to deal with children. While I'm against child abuse, parents have every right to give their child a clip round the ear if they are misbehaving. Why do you think kids play up? Because they know they are no consequences. Brats.
I have done all I can but my son continues to struggle to even get through activities of daily living. (He has just been diagnosed with ADHD only a few weeks ago so I'm still struggling to learn how to cope). My heart goes out to all paretns struggling iwth difficulties with their children, it's so hard to go through and people can be very rude and say things that are not helpful and even point fingers at the parents and label them as BAD parents.

Children are human too. Be careful with them. You shouldn't hit them, you should:
1. take the child aside
2. get down to their eye-level
3. say "your behaviour is not acceptable, are you going to play nicely?"
4. (if the kid continues the behavior) put them in time out, one minute for every minute of their age.
