a little "flailing pinky" on those starting rolls, but over all you can def rock dude! instead of rolling those first notes, build up that stick control, keep that pinky loose but on the stick... and single stroke those hits! then play with doubles and triples! keep it up homie! :)

@Drumwannabe17 , hey dude good call...but if you listen closely, he's actually not playing on the bell of his ride, it's more of tamborine/bellish type percussive production thing (a little cowbell too!)...it continues underneath throughout the entire bridge as well! Nate hardly has a bell on his crash rides anyway, he plays a 24" heavy ride and sometimes a 22" which i have...they don't that bell sound at all. Although I could be wrong!!!! Good ear and thanks for the kind comments!

I considered re-doing the whole damn video cause of that, but I was over it...I actually don't miss it, what happens is that the meinl (medium) is so light that when I hit it hard it goes down so far that when I swing there is no cymbal there to hit! It goes right through it haha!

to tell you all the truth, that kit sounds like crap, I never tune my snare (unless doing studio work somewhere else) and my cymbals are both cracked...I'm actually not a drummer, I play guitar and sing for band...although I do track the drums for our recordings...I'm getting a truth kit soon, 24x16, 13x8, 16x16, 18x18 and a 14x8 snare....now that will sound good!

seeing as the audio doesn't match all the fills towards the end, and you can barely hear the variation, i'm guessing thats the actual drums from the recording you're hearing with the overtones.

ya so two things: the snare you are hearing most is the anberlin snare (very ringy, kinda thin), my snare is actually pretty dead usually cause I tune it so low where you can basically tune it with your fingers. Unless you are hearing the room sound or whatever...it's just an overall crappy sounding video I made with crappy drums on a crappy point and shoot camera haha

Pretty good. As a Percussion performance and music education major I would like to offer some advice for a great foundation. Your left arm looks a little robotic. When you hit the snare, your left hand tends to stick instead of letting up to give the drum room to "breathe." You took a lot of time to tune those drums. Get that stick off of it and let its true sound prevail.

you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. the meinls that come with the lower-end tama sets are very cheap, hardly worthy of being called meinl. meinl makes some INCREDIBLE cymbals, especially in the byzance line. the dude in this vid uses byzance traditionals. same kind that knate young himself uses.
