  • but the ending is the worst part. Ann takes the gun and shoots Tubby. Peter starts screaming, where is the remote, finds it under the couch (what the hell was a remote doing there?) and rewind time so he could prevent it. i wanted to destroy my CD after that scene.

  • @thecagdashalitolgu please tell me how could he rewind the time?? How is it possible??

  • @angelinabetty with at remote. it's not possible, which irritates me alot! if we knew that we saw a movie where there is supernatural powers, then i wouldn't care, but it tries to seem realistic.

  • it's completely unrealistic. c'mon, there is a phone in the car, just break through the car and call the police. but no, she have to run away like a idiot, while the man is screaming like a 2 year old girl because he got hit ONE TIME! bad movie!

  • this is what i call a bad movie. it starts out perfectly, we see two boys, who clearly have some mental problems, but we wanna learn more about them. but suddenly they become humane. they tell Ann that she should take her clothes off, while they cover the boys eyes so he dosen't see anything. NO. they should rape her, while the boy was watching, so they become monstorous. not because i wanna see a person get raped, but that's one of the things that could have done this movie better

  • so from a little tap on the knee a grown man turns into a 2 year old, hardly believable !

  • I've only see the remake, but I do really want to see this. But, I must say, I really don't see what's so awful about the US film. I enjoyed it; it was creepy and unsettling and everything a horror film should be. Usually I hate remakes, but I liked it.

  • this is probably the worst movie i've ever seen.. it starts out great, but the ending pissed me off. i wanted to destroy the CD.

  • my god, just seen it, really terrible, think i feel sick, one movie i really never want to see again, so glad ive seen it, its brilliant

  • 0:39 how is the name of the crazy song?

  • @anaxunamun85 Bonehead by Naked City ;)

  • you've got to be kidding me...i just compared american trailers and their beyond the same!!! even the friggin car is the same just different year!!!!! and its carrying same thing on back of it!!!

  • For me it was unsettling to watch. Sort of like "The Changeling" in that the anger and frustration builds as you realize what is unfolding. Glad I saw the movie the first time, wouldn't watch it again. Too depressing.

  • Michael Haneke think "violence" is trivialize in movies today...

He wanted to show us how real violence can be harmful.

    I think he succeed :)

  • The fuck did I just watch?

  • ...i dont know why the woman looked so depressed ..i mean at least she isn't in the kitchen....geez

  • der film is einfach so unglaublich genial...

  • US also stole Ugly Betty from Betty la fea a Colombian film and book.

  • @skagaguineapig Well the US really didn't steal anything in respect to this film, because Michael Haneke who made this one, made the US version also, I'm guessing he thought the film's themes was more fitting in the US and hence getting a widespread viewing in the US, if you know what i mean...

  • I really enjoyed both. First of all, the original was amazing because it was chilling, surprising, and new. The US version was good because the actors did right by the characters. Paul was just as chilling and scary because he absolutely felt no emotion. Though, I do prefer Arno Frisch both because he set the standard and he looks very nice, for lack of a better word. It's even more surprising

  • I actually liked the remake, I don't see what was so terrible about it.

  • A true mind messer of a movie! blew me away when i first saw this when i was 17 . Austria's answer to Last House on The Left and Misery.

  • i like the remake more the killers looks more like psychopathics

  • @epyksLP What does a psychopath look like?

  • @berthiaumesimon like me muhahah :DD

  • i never said the americans copied it... "michael hanekes one is the original" suggests you were unaware that he made both...hanekes is both the original and the remake,

  • THIS LOOKS EXCATLY THE SAME AS THE AMERICAN ONE!!!

Damn foreigners stealing our original ideas >:(

  • @2prize

It actually is exactly the other way around, since the original is an austrian film from 1997(it even is written in the title) while the american one is simply a one-to-one-remake.

  • @2prize foreigners ?? the americans stole this omg...

  • @2prize The German one was first you retard, and Hollywood steals ideas left right and center... for example: Avatar and Oldboy.

  • @MeganPlox

Let's not forget we steal for films like Star Wars (inspired by Kurasowa's Hidden Fortress), Magnificent Seven (US remake of Seven Samurai) and the US-Italian-Spanish production of Good bad and The Ugly (remake of Yojimbo). Hell you said Avatar stole some ideas mainly from Man Called Horse, Star Wars, Dune, Miyazaki's films and LightYears (Gandahar). The Ring was a US remake of a Japanese film, Three Men and Baby based off a French-Belgium film, and others for years

  • @2prize shut up you son of a bitch michael hanekes one is the original you are just 2stupid

  • Comment removed

  • @bellafilm12345 dude...the american one is shit.

if you should know whhat 2prize said you should know y i saidthat michaels is the original.

and i never said that ,,the americans'' copied it.

i know that both are directed by michael haneke.

  • @2prize

The Austrian one was not only made first, but both directed by Michael Haneke. its meant as an ironic joke, a 'fuck you' to american cinema. He can make an incredible, award winning film in Austrian but when its remade-even with the same director, set, script, stage directions EVERYTHING, its shit. also I reckon its insinuating Americans wont/cant understand or watch foreign films (as you, 2 prize, have proven)

  • @bellafilm12345 I'm watching the American version right now. And, yes, it does suck. Austria knows how to make its horror films.

  • not exactly the same! in the remake he does NOT twinkle :P

  • *** EXSANGUINATION THE MOVIE (2011) *** IS FUNNY, BUT CONTAINS NO MILTON BRADLEY GAMES.

  • The remake is exactly the same like the original movie, only with different actors.

  • @stiefel1998 the reamke is shite

  • @tozz4 Yeah, the new actors suck.

  • Der amerikanische ist besser 2007

  • Österreichischer Film :D einfach die besten ;D

  • The movie is a one big "fuck you" from the director to the audience.

  • Ist dieser Teil besser als das Remake?

  • some1 explain the rewind scene?

  • @Mrjablles69 My interpretation of the rewind scene is it´s Micheal Haneke´s way of saying; I know that's what you want, for it to all end well and violence is a good thing once it is directed to the enemy. We would have all been able to stomach this movie way better if it had a more acceptable ending. But the purpose of the whole movie was to show how horrible and shocking real violence is instead of the romantic version of violence we get to see in many movies.

  • @Jiskemarije i know .....it sucks...and to my taste it's unoriginal..... at least one of em should've died.......... .....the movie is not comfortable to watch at all and i just hate it for ending that way.....but hey if you like violent movies like this........you might wanna check out the movie Buried (ryan reynolds)

  • @Mrjablles69 Buried doesn't show any kind of violence, there's not a single violent scene in the whole movie. what the hell are you talking about

  • @Jiskemarije Or maybe he just wanted to mind fuck u

  • id this as fucking boring, shitty, pointless, heartless, brutal, nonsensical as the remake?

  • Amazing movie!!!! 100000x better than the remake! :)

  • Oh, Christ. WHY did I not check to see that the 2007 version was a remake? Boo. Now I don't think I can watch this.

  • i just want to see the original to see how it compares to the amazing remake

  • that's one great movie!!!

  • genius!! i just love and hate this film!

  • Ive only seen the 'US' remake, but this looks EXACTLY the same, but german. I guess that's the point though:P I hated the movie, until the end and I was like 'this is fantastic'

  • @Robinzorz It is exactly the same, but german. It's a shot for shot remake by the same director.

  • Great film. Very sad & hard to watch. Then again.. that was Haneke's point..

  • Did they use bonehead by naked city in this movie too or only in the remake?

  • thumbs up if your still watching this in 2011

  • for about 3 years that song was my ringtone!

  • good trailer, =]

  • The mother (Susanne Lothar) is the daughter of Hans Lothar, who played "Schlemmer" in Billy Wilder`s ONE, TWO, THREE.

  • (sorry 4 my english), but i want to see this movie, i mean this original versión, from 1997, i saw funny games u.s, i know its a good remake cuz is the same director, but i really want to see this movie with subtitules in spanish, it´s very hard to find, here in south america the 90% of the movies are hollywood films.

    someone can help me?

  • Austria made a lot of good films! :)

  • god this movie is so bizarre, but i really like it!

  • Whoa, 1997, really? KEWUUUHHHLLLLLLLL!!!!

    *XTorrent*

  • Great movie!

  • Whats the name of the song??

  • @DecapitationToday Bonehead by Naked City.

  • @DecapitationToday Bonehead and Hellraiser is the fast metal one, Im not sure about the opera xD

  • @DecapitationToday I don't remember which song exactly, but the song is by John Zorn, might be Demon Sanctuary

  • @DecapitationToday Naked City - Bonehead

  • @DecapitationToday Bonehead by Naked Truth

  • @DecapitationToday I'm sorry, it's Bonehead by Naked City

  • @DecapitationToday

If you ask for the opera part, it's from the Pietro Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana" opera (Tu qui, Santuzza?)

  • Is This Movie in English ????

  • @GlitzGlambert There was a remake in English, but it's not as good as this one, which you can get with subtitles.

  • @RoboJules Ya I Already saw the English one wasn't too good !

  • Made in Austria :)

  • epic bliah!!!!

  • way better than the American remake

  • @aha45 no

  • Michael Haneke is the best european director of modern time."The piano teacher" and "The white ribbon" are the best movies since italian golden era.

  • This movie is good!! A bit disturbing maybe but GOOD. Before i watched it I was like WTF?! But I was surprised.

  • 0:45 Eggieweggs... i would like to...SMASH EM!

  • this almost resembles the artistic vision mikahlkov had in mind when making burnt by the sun, only this film has about a fraction of burnt by the suns value. I still love this movie tho.

  • i searched for this to find something funny to laugh about and this is what i find??? xD

  • @ormarmaa go search for porn next time

  • 0.40 I NEED THE NAME OF THAT SONG RIGHT NOW :P.... by the way, great movie

  • @thefranzfrom1991

I dont know the exact song title but the composer and performer is JOHN ZORN!

  • @thefranzfrom1991 Naked City - Bonehead

  • I did not know there was a older version of it too... is exactly the same?

  • @comedianFA Right as you can see if she didn't do that his friend kill the Family as well dumbass, at least when she did that - some other people knows, those two guys aware they can not CONTROL THE SITUATION, (IT'S NOT THEY PLANNED, EVERYTHING IS NOT UNDER THEIR CONTROL), and they have restraint, finally they will realize that can't do what they want.

What you are thinking is exactly what those two guys want you to think -- mind fuck... YOU ARE FUCKED!!!

  • @greensucksbluerules Right as you can see if she didn't do that his friend kill the Family as well dumbass, at least when she did that - some other people knows, those two guys aware they can not CONTROL THE SITUATION, they have restraint, they can't do what they want.

  • English dub?

  • such a weird trailer...

  • The new one is essentially shot for shot only different language and actors

  • I didn't even know the newest one was a remake until now, but judging by the trailer the newer one covered it pretty damn well

  • Yeah, how could you remake the original FUNNY GAMES? You can't make it better, only worse, as it was.... I forget the second track, i don't feel like looking at my zorn collction, but both of the Naked City songs on here are from "TORTURE GARDEN" -- if you like Naked City, John Zorn mentored Mike Pattton, check out FANTOMAS, insane, better, but it woudlnd' have happened without Naked City, in '92 Patton did vox for a NAKED CITY show

  • So the second piece of musc is Bonehead but what is the first piece!?

  • @RickyStevens94 I think that it is the Domingo & Cossotto version of Cavalleria Rusticana Tu qui, Santuzza. lol just look up Domingo & Cossotto - Cavalleria Rusticana - Tu qui, Santuzza in search.

  • As Haneke stated “In order to decide to do a shot-by-shot remake, you have to be masochistic to some point, because it is a much greater challenge. If you do an original film, and you don’t like a scene, you just cut it out. But if you do a shot-by-shot remake you don’t have that option; you have to be sure it succeeds.

  • I think that anyone who is criticizing Haneke for making the exact same movie in English is missing the point. Haneke didn't just remake Funny Games; he reproduced it shot for shot. This in itself becomes an exercise that, for a film maker as obsessed with the medium as Haneke is, must have been not only extremely challenging but also very fascinating to try and pull off.

  • What is the name of the two pieces of music used in this trailer? I'm analysing this for my media coursework. Danke :D

  • @RickyStevens94 one of them is Naked City-Bonehead, its genre is "thrash jazz" i think its awesome.

  • the remake sucks

  • @BobDakota its the same thing

  • i found the original casting better. And the movie had some "reason to be" in the 90s that I can't find now, after "La pianiste" and before "Die weisse band", for example.

  • @BobDakota

but who am I to decide? Love Haneke anyway :)

  • i watched the american version last night (great film, really disgusting, stressful and psychotic, but awesome argument and ending). its so astonishing how americans can create a copy such as similar as the original.. even the actors wear the same clothes!! "PitcairnFilms" is so right .. they did the same with a great spanish movie, "vainilla sky".. it pisses me of too

  • @eLLAMUSic5 Actually, it is a remake by the same director Michael Haneke but just with american actors

  • @reeses092 its good to know that, i had no idea! and this remake is very well done. but still complain about remakes made only because americans dont want to put subtitles, as PitcairnFilms said

  • herr shober,,,thwok! ahhhhhhhggg

  • i love this film, it is so disturbing and creeping you out but you just can´t stop watching. I prefer this kind of thriller/horror films more than the once where you get to see everything.

  • I definitely want to watch this. I love foreign films so subtitles is no problem for me. It;s like learning another culture. I know this film will be disturbing but I still wanna check it out and it's also in the 1001 movies you must see before you die book.

  • @victhom19 I like the american version better, this one looks weird

  • @LipsOfALovelyGirl ?Have u seen the original one though? The US one is practically a shot to shot remake, and was directed by the same guy who did this one. He remade this so he could reach American audiences with the film, but it wasn't a great success in the US.

  • @victhom19 No I haven't seen it but I tend to always like the version of a movie that I see first so I kind of just can't help it

  • @victhom19 follow that book religiously, as far as choosing films goes!

  • @missfabulesso Haha yeah I am actually. I've only watched about 120 of the films in the book. I hope I will be able to complete it before I die. So I'm making an effort to pick out films from the book - there are so many!

  • @victhom19 You are an idiot.

  • @victhom19 There's a new version of the movie in english, same title with Naomi Watts

  • I both love and hate this movie (for all the right reasons;-)

  • I tried to watch the remake, but it was so stupid that I turned it off.I will give a shot to an original movie

  • one of the creepiest movies I've ever seen. Much better than the remake.

  • whats the music that start after like around 0:43 seconds

  • That's john zorn and naked city, the album is torture garden, the song is bonehead.

  • @00theoutsider00 naked city-album called torture garden.

  • Its a german film!!

  • US has no imagenation so they make remakes and sequels of EVERYTHING

  • @RadioChris93 before you comment with stupid dribble, maybe do a little reading as to not sound stupid. The US version of this film was done by the same director, and every detail down to the color pattern of the curtains to the camera hieght and angle, to the script was identical. The only differance was the script was translated to make sense in english and wasnt a direct translation. So now you are stupid and have no place to make criticizm, cause if you were a film buff you wouldve noticed.

  • @wtfmanicanthaveaname to continue, you would've noticed by watching the 2 films and not by basing your opinion on utter ignorance.

  • @wtfmanicanthaveaname so this movie gets a pass on that. what about every other movie do a little more watching of movies before TRY to prove a stranger wrong on a comment for a minute long video

  • @RadioChris93 ive more movies than probably anybody, but why would youy make that comment on this video? and the US didnt remake it like you said, it was the same director. In an interview he said he wanted to make this movie in america the first time in '97 but didnt cause the disturbing nature. He let the german version sit on a shelf for 10 years then finally decided to redo it. Even the trailers are identical, besides updated music, and newer model land rover, and of coarse the actors.

  • @RadioChris93 i will give it to you the mom, and the 2 psychos in the first one were more convincing, but i love tim roth so nothing bad to say about him lol, maybe its biased but whatever.

  • @RadioChris93 Usually I would agree... except that Haneke also directed the remake. In this case, I think it says more about the director then it does about Hollywood.

  • What happened to Fred in the movie? Please tell me anyone ASAP!

  • Great to see a remake done shot-for-shot!

Saying that, I loved the remake. It felt more fluid.

  • Even the trailer of the remake is almost the same as the original! Same scenes but with different actors

  • thumbs up if you are from austria !!!

  • nop... this is german...

  • i loved the song hahahhaa

  • This movie was incredible, the remake that is. The remote control part is necessary, its not just haeneke doing what he wants... its to break our expectations of bloody violent finishes and to throw away your hopes... the move was made to break all contentions, such as not actually having a score, its silent save for the noisecore that is played a few times, anyways, incredible movie

  • The original and the BEST!

  • @bluegrasslass

it's a lot more better the remake

  • R.I.P Frank Giering

  • I need this film in german here by youtube!!!

  • @Redive3
