As much as I'd love to see a Sharks/Wings conference Finals I don't think there will be one, they Sharks have to face the hottest team in the League in the 1st Round: Ducks. The Sharks are playing like CRAP and didn't earn the President's Cup but won it by default, almost seemed like Detroit and Boston just didn't care for it. BTW, Detroit's the BEST Road team in the League so who cares if the Sharks have home ice. I'll bet Detroit would beat the Sharks in 6 games if they faced one another.

the sharks sucked in last part of the season because they didnt play with desperation and when they hit the ice for their first game against the ducks theyll have that desperation like they did in the beginning of the year. BTW the sharks hav the best home recored in the nhl and each time the sharks and the wings have played this year the home team has won each time . Yeah ok, that's bullshit... they were trying hard to win the President's Cup cause they think they can having Home ice through the Playoffs will get them farther than the Conference Finals. Guess what the Red Wings have the BEST road record in the League while having only given up 1 goal to the Sharks at home all Year. In the Shark Home wins against the Wings it was VERY close games, unlike the Blowouts the Wings had against the Sharks at the Joe. Both teams will have a tough 1st round though

I no both teams r gunna have tough 1st rounds and the sharks and ducks know each other very well and so do the blue jackets and wings. Theyll both be great 1st round series. you can say that this year, but the past three season the pacific division was hands down the hardest division in the league. the redwings only had nashville in their division that made the playoffs as well. the stars, ducks and sharks each made it to the playoffs. anaheim was the only third team to break a 100 point season. and dallas was well over 90 points. i think its commical how you can sit here and just bad mouth teams because they arent the redwings.

I'm only bad mouthing the Sharks cause they suck, their true colors started to come out after the All Star Break and the PAC Division sucks which has really helped them compete for a top spot in the playoffs. Here's a stat for you which proves my point: The 3 lowest scoring 5 on 5 teams in the League sinice the All Star break are ALL in the PAC Division, with the Sharks being the 3rd worst and only having scored some 47 goals in 5 on 5 hockey, followed by the Kings and the Coyotes.

So without Powerplay opportunities ALL 3 teams are screwed. There are a LOT of good teams in the League, NONE of them are in the Pacific Division and sorry that includes the Sharks. The best thing the Ducks could have done was dump a bunch of their players and trading that loser Moen to the Sharks, to come outta the bottom to get back into the playoffs. Funny thing is the Coyotes have a decent chance of beating the Sharks again & the Ducks will at least take 1 of the 2 games against them.

I'm not going to type the Sharks suck, 'cause they've been having probably the best season they've ever had in their history.

But I will type, the season series finished 2-2.. Both respected teams winning in their buildings. I see no advantage for either team.

The 6-0 blow-out was largly due to back-to-back games for SJ, as was the case back in October 29-30th when Wings lost in SJ with back-to-back games. Judge the teams by the January 17th, and February 25 games. Not the back-to-back games.

Fair enough, I was at the October 30th game myself and judging by that game and the one on the 25th I'd have to say the Wings still got their number. However I don't count the back to back games as being as much of a factor as all good teams should know how to handle back to back games and the Wings just did so against the Avs after playing the Predators the night before.

Yes, but as you've pointed out the Avs are team that both the Red Wings and Sharks should be able to beat even on their worst nights.

You just need to remember that both teams have not won their away games with each other, and that the Sharks have done just as bad to the Red Wings as was done to the Sharks in our 6-0 loss.

You can't ignore the injuries either, when you got almost two full lines of rookies instead of the players you want, that impacts the teams playing ability no what team.

It's the last place teams you have to watch out for this time of the year as they are working on rebuilding and gearing up for next year. Damn the Islanders beat the Wings at the Joe recently, the Coyotes have put up one hell of a fight against both teams beating the Sharks once. Key injuries only matter between the Sharks and Wings as they both have plenty of depth that guys just need to step up. So Neither team should make up injury excuses the rest of the year or playoffs.

Wanted to point something out as every Shark fan makes an excuse of why the Sharks lost 6-0 to Detroit, due to the back to back game and how both teams won at home and lost on the road. If you look at the quality of the games the Wing wins over the Sharks have been more dominant than the Shark wins over Detroit. Detroit lost 4-2 after back to back OT game, then beat Sharks 6-0, then lost 6-5, before beating SJ 4-1 : The Sharks have ONLY scored 1 goal at the Joe while WINGS have scored 7 at HP.

That makes twice with the last loss just this past week on 2/25/09 , so it wasn't a fluke... the Red Wings got the Sharks number still; guess we'll see how the playoffs pan out and if these 2 make it to the Western Conference Finals. There are a lot of teams fighting hard for those last 4 spots and sometimes that kinda momentum travels into the playoffs when teams are playing well like Edmonton did a few years back.

I really like Conklin against the Sharks, I never liked Osgood as the Sharks seemed to always have his number year over year every time I saw him play at HP Pavilion. To be honest with you Nabby just gets really lucky a lot which works a lot of the time except in the playoffs. If you look at a lot of his saves they have been because the shooter doesn't get the puck up and just puts it into his pads, body, or right into his glove. All anyone needs to do is shoot on his blocker side to score.
