Do you have any idea of the datarate of HD video? On Bluray, it's around 20MBps minimum, often utilizing variable bitrates for more complicated imagery. You expect that to transfer over the internet at gaming speeds? No. Not a chance.

The compression that will have to be used to create a streamable HD video would kill the graphics anyway.

@volound I did my research. I watched numerous videos of Onlive being demonstrated, even the ones uploaded by the company themselves, and they all show control lag. The minimum internet speed is 5mbps, which is way higher than the average here in the UK (I'm not sure how it is in America). Where the product is definitely innovative, it provides no improvement over the current gaming methods.

I DID do research. According to that research, Onlive isn't avilable in the UK until the end of 2011. The lag for control is unavoidable. When I say lag, I simply mean the response time which is unavoidable when using the internet. On a regular console, you press a button on your control pad and the game reacts instantly. On Onlive, you have to wait for the game to render miles away and have that video sent back. There will always be several ms of delay, which makes a game annoying to play.
