@Zoombus - no, I don't think this is speeded up - it is a great design using only a single NXT kit. But it is slow compared with "Yellow Cube Machine" and "Cubestormer" :-)

No, I don't think this is speeded up - just search for "LEGO Rubik" and you'll find a number of others, some of which show it can be done almost this quickly. Actually, I have "favourited" a few so just go to my channel to have a look at a few of the best

well i went to a nxt camp and my instructor built one of thoes and it solved it in under 1 minute (41.39 seconds to be exact)

LOL, you guys are funny! There is a really fast trick to solving this rubik's cube, in fact, my teacher can solve it in under 30 sec's, you just turn it twice, flip, flip turn, flip repeat.

While I do not believe this is double speed, I do have to agree with points made by previous viewers, The world record is somewhere around that time (07) and the minimum IS more than eleven. But it looked faster than it should. So i suggest that he had figured out a way of scrambling it to make it easier for the bot. Then he made the filme faster by only 50%.

1)The camera at the top is Jerking WAY too much to be 2X Speed.

2)If it were 2X speed, you wouldn't see anything jerk like that.

3)He programmed it to be faster(I think in the description)

well he has done something to it because it is true that a LEGO NXT Servo Motor definetly cannot move that fast. Especially the turntable holding the cube.

it's called gear ratios. if he uses the largest gear against the smallest gear, with te motor on the larger one, the smaller one will move (Number of gears on large divided by the nuimber og gears on the smaller one)/Large gear revolution

Its average is 35 seconds for a scrambled cube. This cube was not scrabled enough :P

Hey, do you mind showing a video or something on how to make this? It would be great to make one of these, I haven't touched my NXT in at least a year.

Also, I tried using CaptureTest to see if it would work, and nothing shows up on the left(on your website you have a picture where it shows the CaptureTest marking all the colors on the cube) and on the right I just have a black box.

My webcam is plugged in and on. I have a DXG-507v and set it to PC Camera and I download the correct drivers.

Because a light/colour sensor can only see one colour at a time, and the algorithms used are too complex for the NXT alone to work with.

The NXT servo motors are really fast. Only when you need the precision turning, you can't run them full speed, the rotational sensors can't keep up.
