  • Such a great song.

  • Magic music,from a magic time the 80s.

  • Coming to Singapore on Oct 15th! WoooHooooo!!

  • I was lucky to be old enough to understand and be touched by the band. The music and lyrics made them special. I never had a chance to see them live though, lucky all of you that did. Can you believe that they toured with Madonna during the 80's?

  • I can play this song on piano.

  • GREAT! THANK YOU

  • LEVEL 42 were on fire here!!!!!

  • Gorgeous song, brilliant version: thanks for posting this.

    Those vocals and harmonies!

  • LEAVING ME NOW....LEAVING THIS PLACE

    HOW SIMPLE YET HOW BEAUTIFUL!

  • es muy bonita la cancion ... pero cada vez que la escucho me da pena :-(

  • Amazing and timeless, just as fresh and as poignant as when I first bought it as vinyl single about a quarter of a century ago.

  • Mark King's bass playing is sublime...it's as easy as breathing for him! He's amazing!

  • dont remember this tour x

  • Bass sounds are awesome. They sound quite nice live. Vocals are in key with one another. Really great song.

  • música de verdade...como quase não se vê mais,infelizmente...linda voz,linda melodia...enfim,perfeita...!

  • UN-believable sound quality.... and just AMAZING that they still sound so great after all these years... yes, "I'm still mesmerized..." THANK YOU, DavenMadeleine! In-CRED-ible post!

  • KNEW IT! knew there were 2 Basses on this track... fookin awesome song though!

  • at time of typing this, this video has 99,625 views, i must be at least 100 of them!!! i think this is the best live version ever and somebody else commented better then the studio version.... in total agreement there!!!! cant get enough of this.... fantastic.... and how mark sings, plays bass and chews gum all at the same time god above knows.....lol :)))))

  • They are like a fine wine that just get better with age

  • Level 42 are amazing, Mark and Paul are great musicans. Love this song, reminds me of my first love.......... :)

  • brings back memories, some good, some bad, missing those times.x

  • Mark King is TOTALLY UNDERRATED as a musician and pop song writer. This man not only has a high caliber bass playing skill, but can sing and play great live on stage. Unreal!

  • sans phil,mais que du bon Marc-king 2006!!

    Zou

  • Soo good to hear this song after so many years!!! Great live version - with the lyrics and everything! Many thanks for the upload!!!!! Yyeesss!!

  • What a tune! Great lyrics & an excellent performance. Like wine & cigars, some songs just get better with age, & this is one of them!

  • I haven't heard this wonderful song in years, it hasn't lost any of its effect on me.

brings me back to a certain time yet it stands up to the test of time.

  • Flawless live version. Sounds even better than the studio version recorded 25 years ago. Amazing musicians... L42!!!

  • Mark King was the best Bass player back in his time apparently.

  • These guys are so effin' good. Nailin' those vocal harmonies. One of my favorite bands ever.

  • now thats what i call music

  • Wow, brings back memories. I remember as a teenager listening to them often and loving this tune, also going to see them at Wembly Conference Center in around 1987. Man, time flies, it seems like just a few years ago. Thanks for uploading.

  • Fantastic! still a great song and sounds just as good now as it did back then!!!

  • I will always love this song for the timeless and universal lyrics, as well as the wonderfully complex yet understated bass guitar and haunting piano outro. I could feel the sadness and melancholy in this song even before I was old enough to have experienced true heartbreak.

An absolute classic of its era.

  • Absolutely awesome!! Thanks.

  • saw them live at portsmouth guildhall many years ago & are one of the best bands I have ever seen live, they are still held in high regards by me & my mates as we all found out about their music at the same time, they are one of those bands that you keep close to you like a good friend & never forget them,

  • Birmingham on Sunday. Can't wait

  • Birmingham on Sunday. Can't wait

  • Great Level 42

  • haven't viewed for a while, but these guys are better on this video then most bands are in the studio. this is real talent and real words.. why aren't they more talked about? i guess they aren't 12 and screaming at someone?

  • Unbelievable performance, this band is perfect!

  • I've followed level 42 the first time I heard lessons in love in 86 in NIGERIA!!

I finally got to see them at the royal Albert Hall in 94(just in time!)

I saw them perform this at Croydon when Mike returned to the Band and that night was one of the greatest nights of my life!. Amazing , truly genius, probably the most talented, hardest working and genuine most unappreciated band in the world!

If you have not seen Level 42 live??? don't miss the opportunity of a life time see them!!!

  • Back when this was released was driving back from Sydney to Melbourne this came on the radio & broke down as my Fiancee had just cracked it with me, The thing that probably saved my life was the fact I realised I couldn't physically drive anymore after listening to this, I had been driving for most of the trip @ over 190-220kph thank God nothing happenend, But Blood great lyrics :(

  • I'm seeing them on 15 oct 2010!

    V exited!

  • One word wonderful xx

  • One of the ALL TIME BEST ballads by a band whose musicianship is exceeded only by their talents as lyricists...simply put: a classic.

  • Love this song Nice words n great tune

  • This has probably been asked already, but what DVD is this? Saw Level 42 in Cardiff a couple of years ago when they released their Retroglide album. Would appreciate any info. Thanks for posting this VID, happens to be my favourite L42 song and better now with Mike Lindup.

  • MY FAVE

  • damn good band. damn good memories.

  • What a brilliant version by a vastly under rated band.

  • Just realized, no Vegas show on 8/1!!! :( Bummer. Oh well.

I accidentally hit "Flag as Inappropriate" on my stupid iPhone for this video! Sorry. I hope it didn't actually go through! Damn slippery hands of mine! :(

  • I cannot wait to see them live in July here in Southern California! My first ever Level 42 live show will be on July 28th! I'm incredibly excited!

    Nathan's voice is gorgeous! :)

  • @achau211

They will blow your socks off. We are lucky enough to be seeing them in Times Square.

  • @DavenMadeleine2008

I have no doubt they will! And I'm very much looking forward to it! I already think they're phenomenal just from watching their live concert DVDs and YouTube clips like this one. But actually seeing it all, live, will be quite an amazing experience! I'm going to all 3 Southern California shows: The Belly Up in Solana Beach, The Grove in Anaheim, and Nokia LA Live in downtown Los Angeles! And if that isn't bonkers enough, I just might add Vegas on August 1st! LOL

  • @achau211 Guys, am so glad you posted about their tour! I had no idea they were touring, and they're coming to Pittsburgh Sunday Night. :) Pittsburgh??? Good thing they don't know better, but SWEET! I imagine the show tonight in NYC will be awesome. Thanks again!

  • @Immiltonisin

They had very good radio support in Pittsburgh. Sadly, I was not able to return to the pitts for the show :(

  • @achau211 I'll be seeing them Friday in San Francisco. Saw them back in the 80's. You won't be disappointed.

  • @achau211 If you're a bass player Mark will take your mind apart, rearrange it and put it back and smile at you while he's doing it. He did that to me and he knew he was messing with my head lol! Excellent post, excellent band and phenominal bass player!

  • I loved this song back in the 80's and I love it today. I never hear it on the radio. It's a great song!!!!

  • Hey Denina, I was telling someone the last time I heard this song was in 89 when I was in art class with a girl I had a crush on. The end piano solo really gave me that mushy tingle-down the spine feeling. You're right in that you dont really hear that many Level 42 songs anymore (not Running, Hot Water, Lessons etc) The only one the radio ever plays in Something About You.

  • Level 42 is one of the bands I really wish all the best for. They are super musical and their compositions are top class. Love Marks voice and bass playing.

Dave, is there more from this concert. Fantastic stuff mate!!

  • Is that Mark King? If it isnt, his voice isnt too bad.

  • Listening to Nathan's voice over and over again ... wow .. check it out around 4.40 min ..

  • No offense to Annie McCaig, but where was Nathan in those days?!? his voice compliments Lindup so perfectly in a live setting.

  • I know ... if he ever makes his own CD while doing all the vocals, I will be the first to buy it!!

  • Merci de faire partager ce bon vieux temps.Super bon!!!!!

  • brillant tour great memories of this

  • The....most perfect.....breakup song of all time. Evar! I weep a bit for my teen breakups as I type.

  • Great sounding bass.. Who is that guy?

    hahahahaha

    Mark is King!

  • Great vid and audio! This tune brings back so many memories. Seen these guys about half a dozen times, awesome live!

  • Cannot wait to see the guys on tour in Oct 2010, it'll be 22 years since I last saw them..*shameful* Love this so much, thanks for sharing.

  • This song gives me tingles down my spine. Great song. The 80s was full of great music.

  • mortel!

  • a timeless classic...oh my god!

  • That piano solo at the end is a real spine tingler by Mike Lindup AWESOME

  • Maudib, - I agree TOTALLY about your mention of Leaving Me Now. I remember I had art class with this girl I had a crush on and this song came on the radio when me were in class and I felt the same way about the end of it. Mike's a hell of a song-writer. Great voice too.

  • Fantastic. Better than studio original version.

    Hope them live forever!

  • This is so much my all time fav L42 song. Great playing by Mike Lindup...

  • yer guys growin fat now, dude... but your music, geez.. i never ever remove those melodies from my mind...

  • Ace song classic again for Level 42 !!!

  • Seen Level 42 so many times I lost count and everytime is as good as the last. Love them dearly and I hope they carry on forever....

  • Brilliant song - takes me back to a place - a time and a girl!!!

  • Is that a JayDee Bass Mark is playing?

  • Awesome.

The best era of music. The 80's.

Not many will argue on this.

  • Hola, tengo una duda. Alguna vez toco en Buenos Aires Level 42

  • this is totally awesome. saw them recently at hampton court and it was top top top draw. love it.

  • Wauw this is great!

  • Does anybody know where I can find the long version of this song?! I am desperate for it, pls help.

  • there was a video on here, but i guess thatwmg removed it to 'protect' the artists 'interests'.

a load of rubbish - i spoke briefly with mark king after their recent hampton court concert and he has AND I QUOTE 'no issues' with anybody who puts level 42 material on you tube - infact it's helped them gain popularity with younger fans, so everybody wins!

  • Amen to that sir.....Hell, if it wasn't for youtube, I wouldn't have seen anything by Level 42 ever since youtube's inception. The U.S. hasn't heard anything from them since 1987.

  • its on youtube sweety lol

  • Gran tema, hermosa interpretación. Felicitaciones Mark, bajista con técnicas y gustos increíbles.

    Felicitaciones !!!

    Ruben

  • *____*

    brilliant..!

  • great performance but the sequencing makes me feel sick :(

  • Why?

  • A great tune with a great new arrangement . Almost all, I believe can identify with the lyrics at some point in their lives.Mine was in the mid 80,s and a another in 2000.Hours by the window is similar in some ways as well.

  • en los 80 escuchamos muy buenas bandas y muy buena música.

    marcelo.

  • very nice

  • Mike Lindup sexy as hell

  • LEVEL 42,I LOVE YOU

  • grat band

  • Weird, i heard first this music on my w810i phone but its called "Backseat tune" its a main sound of the phone.

  • I had a bad break-up in the mid-80s. This song played. great song.

  • great tune from a class act

  • for Micheal xoxoxox

  • I saw these at the Odean in Birmingham in the 80's still as good now!!! these should reform on a large scale as these were true performers!

  • Always said LEVEL42 are a class act and always will be.This sums them up.

    AWESOME!!!!!.

Cant wait to see them at retrofest in Glasgow in August. They a headlining the Sunday of the weekend!! WOW

  • Beauiful song and incredibly good performance. Its amazing! Long live Level 42!

  • This track is definitely Level 42 at their finest! I thought that this particular band were one of the most outstanding 80's acts. It would be good to hear some new material from these guys now in the 3rd Millenneum!

  • If you want some newer Level 42, check out Retroglide. It's pretty darn good.

  • great song......love it!

  • they sound great!! mark's voice is amazing as usual. love him!

  • Anybody seeing Level 42 at the Indigo2 in March next year?

  • Going to see them tonight -last time was 26 years ago at Bristol poly-can't wait -brings back good memories of jazz funk nights all over the west country !!

  • this song has the best lyrics of level 42. though running in the family is funny, and love games is great thinking!

  • Hi Dave, good to see you back on here: By the way you missed out part of the song: 'And I suppose it's my turn now, There's no more love - only feelings of doubt. Gone with the hopes your words have erased, Gone with the smile you wiped from my face. Love is a ship we all hope to steer, Through troubled times - cross an ocean of tears. A midnight sea that swells in your eyes, Takes just one look to know I'm still mesmerized.' Hope I'm not being pedantic, regards to your good lady.
  • Cheers for your feedback ;-)

  • No worries - by the way can you help me with something? Who is the other member on stage here with Mike, Mark, Nathan, Gary and Sean?

If you know could you let me know - thanks.

  • i finally know! it was quite suprising for me too! remember wally badarou, an awesome synthesiser? you can see him in the love games clip too on the left. he was seen as a 5th member during their gould period, and people thought he left level 42, but he is back!

  • oh this is not true. i thought he was. i got this live dvd and the reading 2001 AND THEY ARE AWESOME. his name is kwaku dzidzornu (never heard of him before) goodluck!

  • Hey! How are you, we are both so much looking forward to seeing the guys on the 4th October. Hope you enjoy time with them xx
