Generally tho - as soon as the cables snap or ground out, the circuits open. although, induction along the lines could still give you a killer pop.
Still an idiot for climbing the tower, but power crews climb live towers everyday. hell, workers crawl down live lines to do repair/inspection work. See those glass insulators holding the lines to the tower? Don't bridge that gap in any way. If you don't offer a better path than the wire already has, it'll ignore you like those family members that don't like you.

@ho7s0 - 500KV will only jump a couple feet in air, unless other factors are in play. Tower in water is perfectly fine.
