Wow ! I'm a huge "Bluse" fan and player (on my own front porch). And listening to this, I got to think that The Animals originals were so good that their covers get lost in the backrooms some where or some how. Its too bad , Erics phrazing is a very original take on this classic. As good as "The Rolling Stones" take on "Red Rooster"
this song makes me wanna sit out side and sip on bourbon i live in Texas and it just seems like a natural urge but in the best of ways its making me so chill lol

to kingdombythesea, same thing with me. I watched Ed Sullivan clips one night and was mezmerized by Eric singing house of the rising sun. I am from thie rock and roll era and have NO IDEA how I missed this amazing guy with this voice!! Now my day is not complete unless I have listened to Eric belt it out. There will never be another to compare to him.
them white boys love them sum blues....and don't get it twisted. i am from Detroit MI and im 23 years old and i....LOVE BRITISH BLUES. i want all races to come together and get down to the music we all love. if you feel the same way holla at me bros :)
such a MASSIVE voice to come out of such a little lad, reminds me of steve marriott in that respect..........fantastic, five star quality tune from a belter of an album....thanks =] xx
An unintended consequence of his (and the early Stones) work is to put money in the pockets of a bunch of forgotten, hard working Black American bluesmen.
The reather author is St. Louis Jimmy Oden, who also did Soon Forgetten, which the Stones covered, as well as many other great songs but rarely known by his versions
Please upload more songs from this album (All:-) ... I´m from Europe and this Album is for me unavailable. Also i love the Animals and extra their blues songs... thank god for animals, thank Animals for music and thank You for upload. BTW.. I´m 25 yers old.. :-)
eh and im 16! already seen him live couple of years ago. Its nice to see he makes new versions of his old classics, like a reggae Dont let me be misunderstood! But nothing's better than the good old, raw stuff!
I've never heard this before either... but then again, I only have the US "Animalism" and "Animalization" albums! (a bit confusing at times, really! ;-)

La voce di Eric è inarrivabile per espressività, il sound degli Animals è penetrante, Burdon è di un sexy incredibile, fisicamente e musicalmente :)

My older brother turned 17 in 1965 so you KNOW what I was listening to, 7 years his junior.
And still do!

Eric Burton is the 'blackest' white guy ever.
An unintended consequence of his (and the early Stones) work is to put money in the pockets of a bunch of forgotten, hard working Black American bluesmen.

i just stumbled upon this music tonight and cannot stop
playin it. pity me because i was too busy answering my
country's call to fight in the Nam in the 60's and just knew
of the songs like "House of the Rising Sun" and "We got
to get out of this Place" but Eric Burden and the Animals
are so much more than that. i never before had the time,
but am hooked now. i can now say that i have lived.

burdon has improved alot of songs by covering them!

Eric Burdon puts everyone to shame! He is so outrageously incredible!
wolfpup4u 2 years ago 41
@wolfpup4u I loved the early Rolling Stones -- their first 6 or so LPs. But I always preferred The Animals. Eric blew Jagger off the stage.

Alan Price did a version of this too in 1966. I like the Animals better.
asorls1 3 years ago 4
I know, both are good. Prices version is more softy. It's sad that Alan Price isn't much available on Youtube, I will change that.
JulianThomePictures 3 years ago
Prices version makes me think of tracks like I beleive from 1965.

A drink for the author, Mr. Howling Wolf, may he rest in peace! And for Eric Burton and the Animals for a great version!

Led Zeppelin did a version of this on "How the West Was Won" album. :) of course robby rocked it more but Eric Burdon is a genious singer also.

I personally prefer Eric's voice to Robert Plant's, though he moves too. Eric is just the best :)

I also prefer Burdon's voice!!! He's really the best!!

The Animals are the third biggest band all over the world.
They had 9 TOP HITS in 1964, 1965, 1966. Then the band disbanded.
JulianThomePictures 3 years ago
I can't understand why The Animals aren't famous like other great british bands....
mucaperetz 3 years ago 5
You'll understand when you're older that they are famous -- and more so than superoverhyped Led Zeppelin.
