The mixing bowl sucked...the IA didn't help the situation. The traffic circle toward Falcon was another source of headaches and heartbreaks. Hated the QaQa and Rt. Temple and Rt. Fatboy...freaking AQI.
aah jackson, some fake IP's hit us with a poorly made IED. Will never forget the look they gave us entering that town just before we got hit. Wasnt far from Tampa , Just remember it was a long convoy from Kuwait
I added you as a favorite.. I must have seen a video that made me wonder if you are still in Mahmudiya, maybe? I can't remember now! My son is over there and has been there since last December.
Dang that place needs some serious rebuilding. We need to kill the terrorists as fast as we can so their economy can get on track. We can't have peace until the enemy is dead. Germany was in shambles after WWII but they're doing quite well now. I think Iraq will be ok if we stay involved and keep killing the islamo-fascists.
if you think it is shitty now, you should have seen it in 2002. The are was very neglected because it was predominantly shia and we all know how much Saddam hated them. It's actually not that bad. You can't compare it to Europe or North America, although part of Iraq reminded me of Mexico.
@Orkomagic really did provide fair treatment (for the most part, yeah abu ghraib was a setback because pogues are morons), and didnt want to murder people that didnt pose a threat. the al-anbar awakening was started and the fundamentalist groups were separated from the nationalist insurgent groups. nationalist groups decided to work with the us rather than against them, and they were put on the payroll. so, in turn, the same people that used to det. ieds on us, are now pointing out AQI to us.
Took many a lap around the teardrop on Jackson through Mahmudiyah myself back when the FOB was called St. Michael. 3/505th PIR 82d Airborne 2003-2004
