  • Thank you very interesting to see how much oil gets splashed around in the crank case. I was always wondering how much oil really gets to the top of the bore when the piston is at TDC. Now I can imagine.

  • Not good for the engine? No shit man haha the whole bottom end is running without oil. But yeah, you get almost no oil flow on engine startup so same thing.

  • Good German Quality!!!!!!

  • A sensible engine with 5 mains compared to a Mazda V6 which uses only 4.

Are more main bearings better? We need mileage testinmonials from more BMW owners.

  • @seapeddler Well, K75s were and still are used as courier bikes in Europe and over 300,000kms. is reasonably common. And that's stop and go traffic. They're very tough but come with the usual German faults;

inadequate for the job electrical connectors, 1 or 2 goofy design sillies that they stick with like grim death, and a requirement for too many special tools coupled with arcane repair procedures. Properly serviced, K engines are more or less immortal.

  • @schlusselmensch On a similar note, I recall the fuse panels from the 80's Rabbit cars. The BMW mechanicals are reasonably sound, but the peripherals are anarchous. But that is perhaps what makes it fun, as you learn things ; and hopefully, not by accident.

  • @seapeddler Yeah, I've worked on Type 17s since they came out in '75. On the German built cars the water came in the radio antenna body grommet and ran into the connection blocks in the back of the panel. And the fuel pump relay could be counted on to zorch its connections, the list went on and on. Don't even get me started on 911s! Anyway, I'll bite, what the heck does "anarchous" mean?

  • @schlusselmensch 'Anarchy of production' is the term well suited to the auto industry. Things designed to wear out prematurely, rust, wobble, loosen, etc. The wealthy hire the best engineers (terrorists) to keep us in our place. Contrast that to the megalithic constructions of the Atlanteans, which were designed to last 1000's of yrs. Vehicles, ships, submarines, airplanes, etc. were operated with wireless transmission towers in those days. Crystal energy.

  • That was deffo worth the mess, Wouldnt it be great to see engine run with no cylinder head, i know the implications of that by the way

  • I don't think so....can anyone tell me if that rocker cover is on a special hinge? if so can it be taken off the hinge easily for better access to the valves?

  • The crank cover appears to be on a hinge, but it's not. A rubber coolant hose holds it in place in the video. (The valve cover is on the other side of the bike.)

  • Hey, your voice is suited to tell fairy tales! =))

    Thanks for a story!

  • The way this guy talks pisses me off.

  • HEY YOU FUCKING RETARDS ASKING ABOUT HOW MANY CYLINDERS THERE ARE: COUNT THE FUCKING ROD CAPS. THERE ARE 4.

  • @JDK0316191 so does 4 "rod caps" mean 2, 4 or 6 cylinders

  • @Mincemeat100 Are you fucking serious?

  • @JDK0316191 In any case there are 5 "rod caps" in that head so I'll assume 5 cylinders like a Volvo (both German made so could be the same engine manufacturer)

  • @Mincemeat100 You're counting the main caps, dumbass.

  • Is it a 3, 4 or 6 cyl?

  • Cool! Hey, is that motor laying on its side?

  • I love how it just kinda diarrhea'd all the oil out.

  • Thanks dude. Interesting.

  • pare lu sfaccimm

  • wasn't so bad..yeah, sure.

    anyhow, how many cylinders? 4?

There is a guy to my house and he has one in front of his fence to his backyard and it's been sitting there since who knows when, and it needs a new coat of paint on the fenders, maybe some engine work, it looks newer than 1990. I would offer 1-1500. I'm only 13! I know it is not a beginner bike. I know a little about engines. Shifting gears: let off, clutch, shift, and slowly throttle while letting off clutch. Any ideas.............

  • @Mrengineerwannabe1 if he is letting it rot, you must, MUST buy it from him. it would be a shame if it went to waste

  • @Mrengineerwannabe1 a K75 has three cilinders. If they work proper they use to be much more expensive than $1.500

  • crazy

  • Nothing would be wreked here as long you make sure it always have enough oil in sump.. don't run it dry then !!! ;)

  • Not good for the engine but an interesting way of checking your oil pump delivery :), certainly wouldn't condone it but very interesting video.

  • good way 2 reck yur bike

  • @olimuir

the engine just runs a few seconds, thats not bad for it if its covered in oil enough. a year ago, i put in a wrong oil filter and the engine got no oil from oilpump but i did 14 kilometers till it broke down.

  • What type of engine does it have? Is it a horizontal four with dry sump lubrication?

  • yes

  • @HondaH100A No!, the K series is a wet sump but the engine is laid sideways

  • Kind of neat. Well done.

  • Wow, that looks kinda cool

  • Great to see the inside of the engine when it's running! I've a K100rs and comes I'm also from the Netherlands.

  • Thanx, really interesting to look at the inside of the engine, got a k100 myself. Really a smooth bike, now I now what's behind that cover.

    greetings from Zwolle, Netherlands, Robert

  • rad!
