I kinda like the new youtube layout. I like the design it's easier to navigate on a person's channel if they have things in a playlist/or a youtube show. The site is changing the layout, so what. At least they aren't charging you a fee to sign up. Even if youtube does become that, There will be a new site that will come out that will offer what youtube used to be. Youtube knows that without it's people it wouldn't make any money.I believe it's all rumors.

@ExtTreAmMusic youtube are counting on people being sheep and accepting changes that favour their interest in spoon feeding us what they want us to see ...this is worrying for young artists who want to use youtube to achieve some measure of success....its not all rumours as these changes are already effecting me in a negative fashion and they havent been fully implemented yet and if this is a sign of whats to come then im sure things will get worse before they get any better

I've been hearing about youtube trying to phase everyone out for awhile. I even knew about this new layout before it finally came to be. Your right about one thing, Goggle can't stand to lose Money, so if people were to not sign on for 24 hrs, it can still take a few Months before it starts to really affect Goggle. But it's worth a shot
