When it came to choosing a uniform, we simply liked the Suns jersey colors and the fact that there was a shooting energy ball in the logo. It seemed a fitting theme given the "blasterball" FX we were creating for the movie. After the fact, a friend assumed it was inspired by the Suns' slam-dunking gorilla mascot (a fact to which I was completely oblivious at the time as I knew nothing about actual basketball) So coincidentally, the gag had a much greater effect than originally intended! :)
Actually, in this case there were over 50 of us... many of whom earned course credit and went on to pursue careers in media. But in hindsight, I suppose we could have spent our time writing lengthy critical essays and research papers on film theory until our creative energy and morale became non-existant. This was way more educational, valuable, and ultimately fun. Cheers! ;)
