  • where exactly does the term highballing come from?

  • wow! thats cool!

  • WOW! Amazing!

  • Spectacular! That baby is cookin there. Really impressive.

  • Nice placement and light. Just one comment. You should not have zoomed in then out, IMO. Let the train do that work for you and this would have been great. Just my thought.

  • @IAMOldNick The way I do it most of the time is I am zoomed in to start with and then I zoom out, but this I did not have time to set up

  • very good! thank you!

  • That's a beautiful video with such a scenic landscape as a background.

It's really worth it to watch them in HD, continue to film them in HD, please!

    Thank you for the videos!

  • @WillhelmKaiser Thank you

  • absolutely great machine and video!!!! thanks for sharing..!

  • the best way to travel is by train great view

  • Sick blud! Dat is some bare nice train!

  • it doesn't need the p-42

  • I think diesels are my favorite

  • Awesome video steam engines are cool! Diesels are awesome too!

  • wow!! great video!! i like the trains in special the old 4449, thanks!!!

  • Why is there a diesel engine in there?

  • Thumbs up if Depeche Mode brought you here !

  • Nicely done, ervans! My 3 year old son and I both enjoy these videos you put out, he loves the trains and I love the scenery (sometimes we get homesick being overseas). We appreciate all the time and hard work you put into these.

  • beautiful video! i agree! :) trains always fascinate me - so huge and heavy... awesome :)

  • @VNVgirl Thank you, yes all that power so close

  • that motherfucker's MOVING. i say at least 50 - 60 MPH.

  • i see a guy alot using a tripod shooting trains in the gorge, bet it's you.

  • i see a guy alot using a tripod shooting trains in the gorge, bet it's you.

  • @smokum0 I've only done it once, but I will be back

  • another reason this guy's vids are worth watching , is he uses a "tripod" for steady shots. Bravo 2 that fact !

    love it! ThnQ! :)

  • @Vilrap Thanks, I will try

  • Great to 4449 traveling at high speed again

  • @88mroux Thank you

  • Very cool posting! I have an old VHS film of the 4449 inside the cab when the engineer opens her up on a long, straight stretch along the Columbia River--two hands to pull the throttle out, you can hear it pick up speed (they were already traveling pretty fast) and soon everyone in the cab is holding on for dear life as the old girl begins to shimmy and shake--just AWESOME!

  • @caseygblake I would like to see it

  • that is my favorite steam engine i am going to get for ho scale when i get enough money to buy it

  • u got some balls to stand there lol xD

  • @sjafalconz Yes it was close

  • @ervans I agree with sjafalconz--years ago I was on the platform to watch an Illinois Central passenger train barrel through to Chicago, e.g., no stop at the station I was at. The train must have been traveling at 80MPH when it passed me because I felt like I was being sucked into the train. When it finally passed by I thought to myself--"Well, I'm never going to THAT again"!

  • This is as far east as I went, and I only got one shot. There was no way to catch it again on it way to Portland

  • Nice! People actually able to poke their heads out the windows, too.

  • Yes, and most of them were taking my picture

  • 18 cars. Don't tell me I'm the only one who's counted!

  • I think so

  • 17, count again

  • Oh yeah, guess I shouldn't have counted the engine as a car. ;)

  • My Dad was the Oilman on this train in Portland. This just brings back memories when I was a child and seeing this train still running is such a warm feeling. Thank you for doing this.
