  • Lighter at ikea : 99cents

  • who are the 26 guys that don't like it...and why??? i guess: waste and disrespect, ay? are they all female?

  • This is a good way to learn how to do this for the first time. Use premanufactured items. After you've mastered the technique, you can make all your components from nature. This is called learning...

  • I don;t think the idea was to use a common lighter, but to reflect how common materials can be used to make fire. Give the dude a break. he has just showed you how to use a bow from a close hanger, nylon string and junk crap home stuff from Ikea to save your bacon one day.

Lighters are not the save all and malfunction or stop working all day long. What will U do when the old trusty Bic stops working? Call Survivor man? Better rub that little pecker with some cotton balls soaked in vasoline.

  • Great video. I love seeing the junk from Ikea set on fire.

  • expensive and pointless!

  • Brilliant! Great Video! Thanks, wtr7

  • He invented fire with 20 euros.

  • Chuck Norris can make fire, by rubbing to ice cubes together...

  • cool

  • This must have been a congress-funded project.

  • A Flint would be cheaper (;

  • @MulXTire yea, but no where near as cool

  • You spent how much money.. dude a lighter cost 1$

  • LIGHTER 0,50€

  • you can buy a € 1,50

  • Helmut = MacGyver

  • if you ask this dude for fire, you'd have to wait 7mins to get your ciggy lit on!

  • you know, ikea also sells lighters...

  • @MubangaDNB "As Ikea does not sell matches or lighters,.."

Read the description. It could really help ignorance.

  • well done

  • it'd be cheaper if he just bought a lighter from iKEA

  • Excellent, going to try similar. One day doing this will be more a priority to buying cheap stuff. Where's part two where you put all their furniture on ?

  • that have 2 be the most expensiv fire i have ever seen:)

  • Best use of ikea products I've seen.:)

  • Great concept.

  • Bear Grylls here im am stuck stranded in a forest with no flint and i need to make a fire quick but luckily theres a ikea near by

  • This was great. I'm currently filming a short apocalyptic film call The 'Skirts and I'd like to show the characters making fire from found items. You sir, have inspired me. Hehe.

  • Congratulations. Most expensive way to making fire ever saw

  • Those everlastings didn't last very long.

  • Sooo there is going to be an Ikea on this island?

  • @danieloconn

When the zombies attack us, we won't care that we are using our furniture. Think about it. Would you rather stay warm and alive, or would you rather cling onto your purchased goods?

  • A box of matches, 20 cents...

  • A box of matcher, 20 cents...

  • I thought this might be a cool idea. It isn't. It cost him loads to make that fire and he wasted loads of the furniture. Waste of time.

  • This man cut his finger while making this video. before 1:08 no band-aid after 1:08 band-aid.

  • Bic Lighter- $1

    Wood- Free

  • who would of guessed! you can buy wood and set it on fire! this is just crazy i bet its impossible with home depot products!

  • Pretty good, looks like fun and you feel like you actually did something creating a fire like that lol

  • brilliant... but it took seven minutes and about $15 to prove a point to ikea, the proper survivalist in today's society would get a free pack of matches from a gas station and tell ikea to go fuck themselves and save the money for nonperishable food.

  • sip, pinter tenan londo siji iki

  • This was mesmerising. Great!

  • i got a fucking better idea dry grass and a lighter wast like 40$ on this crap

  • just get a light bro!

  • what wood did you use? hehehe,,

    fredde

  • I'm taking sausages on my next trip to Ikea, a barbecue in the car park even buying that lot will be cheaper and safer than the cafe slop!

  • 1 box ikea matches 0.15 Euro, but less fun and blisters

  • hanger+rope, man that was brilliant!

  • I like how they don't include IKEA in the "thank you" section.

  • I like how they don't include IKEA in the "thank you" section.

  • Those who cannot see the cleverness in this have missed the point entirely. Forests; trees.

  • damn shit thats expensive guy...

    its useless

go to a fuelstation and buy a lighter or matches -.-

  • The best video i've seen on youtube i'm inspired and so are my mates its every man duty to know that shit john in GLOSSOP ENGLAND

  • useless. if found those thing u can find a fire lighter... go into nature and do some useless videos idiot

  • that is a great idea using the hanger, then you can just hang a bag around it with the rest of your materials and put it in the closet. fantastic. My new project.

  • at least he didint set fire to his trouser leg.....

  • does this mean go to ikea when zombies attack?

  • Total amount to make ikea fire:$35.00

    time spent:15 minutes

Total amount to make dollar store lighter fire:$1.00

    time spent:1 second

  • this or just using a lighter

  • Now it's time to drink my own piss

  • great!

  • just buy a lighter :S

  • I really like it , it shows what thinking outside the box will do this is what it take in an emergency , great video thanks for posting

  • Nice shout out on Jimmy Fallon's show tonight.

  • Who found this after hearing about it from Les Stroud on Fallon?

  • Les Stroud sent me here.

  • funniest shit ive ever seen

    ...shit-my-life is sad..

  • absolutly fantastic!

  • You couldn't buy a lighter for 1€ ?

  • expensive fire... but good work

  • lol just gimme a lighter, some paper and ill get my other stuffs from the forest =p

  • It looks like a vodoo-ritual.

  • Some long way to make a fire :L

  • supper handig!!

  • Geniaal!

Maar in het begin heeft hij nog geen PLEISTER om, halverwege het filmpje wel :)

  • How utterly senseless...

If I ever find myself in the wilds, without vegetation and asphalt as far as I can see and only my trusty IKEA wares at my disposal I know exactly what to do...

  • so if youre cast away go find the next IKEA?

  • @bu83 This method is the most used way to create fire in the wilderness I believe. But in the wilderness you use sticks and roots instead of IKEA-stuff

  • @Citadellion you got to be kidding me?

  • @bu83 I've read on many occasions that this is the best method to create fire in the wilderness when you don't have matches, flint etc, and just need to use materials from the wilderness. The method is called "bågdrillning" in swedish, which directly translated to english would be "bowdrilling".

  • Don't breath the smoke!!!! Unless you want to get lead vapors in your nose!!!

  • that's a really expensive way to make fire!!!

  • #IkeaTerrorism lolz must try on my next air trip.

  • i like burning things

  • impresionante!!

  • is there an ikea on a deserted island like CAST AWAY??? if so gimme the address so next time i get stranded i can go there nd get all these products. xD

  • Then man walked into IKEA, and created fire.

  • en serio tio, en ikea también venden mecheros...

  • @mikysanblas le quitas toda la gracia jajaja

  • IKEA survival kit....LOL

  • a lighter would have been cheaper, and easier to take in the handluggage.

i dont see people who go out camping, taking this ikea stuff with them.

  • maybe you should got to a store that does sell matches

  • wicked AWESOME, kids, don't try this at IKEA, try it on the parking site!

  • 10 people do not realize this video has nothing to do with making a fire.

  • Make a fire for under 25€, now thats a bargain I wouldn't miss!

I did enjoy the video though :)

  • @vizigr0u LoL, in the United States (especially in New York this kid would get locked up for the possession of cold weapon (knife), making a fire on the street - ~$150 summons + legal fees for both cases, littering on the street $300 summons, so it is a real bargain!

    I also enjoyed the video!

  • Cool lesson. Would rather of seen you make your own kindling besides using napkin tho.

  • I thought that was a great demonstration. Creative and very useful. See your tools for survival in everyday products if the need arises.

  • VERY creative!! I love it. Now... to make a distiller out of more Ikea products in order to have some water, and a fermenter to take those hideous lingonberries they sell and turn it into a nice alcoholic drink :P

  • cooooool

  • Comment removed

  • omggggg wut a waste of resources..... though its still kinda cool....

    WHAT A WASTTTTTTTEEEE THOUGH!!!

  • @whoshu1

Would you rather have him buy all the stuff and just dump it all in a ditch afterwards?

  • awesome knife skills, well done my young padawan!!!u are ready for the swedish outback!

  • IKEA win...

  • Endlich ein Feuerzeug von IKEA :)

  • hummm well good for them to be creative. At least they are doing something constructive

  • A magnesium lighter would be cheeper, nice tip for the worst case scenario annyway

  • if you go to a desert island choose one with an ikea store ;)

  • @souminhoto if you have wood, a rock and some cord this will still work.

  • Come to think about it, it's not too unrealistic to be stuck in a house without matches, lighters or any other fire starter. Grap a knife, a hanger, some rope and save the day.

  • I really love this!

  • Dude, Ikea also sells lighters

  • dirty fingers, iew

  • lol

  • Feuerzeug wäre billiger gewesen. :)

  • vrij briljant!

  • don't you know that? you are cast away on a lonely island and anything you have is some stuff from IKEA?

  • I can buy me a firelighter it cost only 45€ent

  • yeah he cut himself rather early

  • Bic Classic Disposable Lighter Single Pack at amazon... 1.99 $

  • żal. za tą kase co wydał to by zbudował kominek i by jeszcze na zapałki starczyło....

  • ja takie coś kurwa zrobię z produktów z kiosku ruchu

  • 4 people don't get the spirit

  • Mam takie same buty ;o

  • I bet IKEA sell matches.

  • @peacekkqmark for 0.99$ ;)

  • @peacekkqmark yes they really do :D for 1,29 the big ones! :D

  • @peacekkqmark

If you think the end-goal is just to make a fire, you don't get the idea behind the video. This shows the creativity to use stuff for tasks it was never designed to do. It's the challenge not the end product. Then again most people in the US these days are spoiled, ignorant little brats who want the easiest way and for someone else to do the thinking for them.

  • @peacekkqmark

He almost spend 25 Euros for this stuff!!! a match or a whole BOX of matches would be cheaper!!! ^^

with 25 Euros I wouold buy an refillable lighter and 10 cans of butan gas!!!...^^

  • @peacekkqmark we dont

  • Survival tips for 2012.....

  • pretty boring

  • what a waste of time and money ...

  • Yea cool but i think i would simply take a lighter with me

  • You are not a NooB ;)

  • Hey checkout my channel!

I made a video of myself dancing around IKEA infront of hundreds! LOL ;)

  • this is sooooo stupid, this guy took forever what a waste

  • @erickjocoteco

    Let's see you do it.

  • God, IKEA sells some amount of crap.

  • Or you could just buy matches.

  • Notice how he didn't have a band-aid at the beginning of the video.

  • @RobotsAnger

Oh god just got that too. 0:16 takes knife out, no bandaid... 0:19 is cutting, and has bandaid...hahahaha

  • lmao i seen this on wimp.com and had to get on youtube to comment... so you wasted all that money on these nice items to brun them.. thas 1 and 2 with all that money you could of just got a lighterr or book of matches lmao.. man epic fail... yea like ikea is gonna be were ever you would be lost lol " ahh shit no fire and we lost,, just go down the stream make a left on the 1st oak tree straight down to the rocks 6 trees later make a right another right by the owl and u should see ikea there"

  • if youre ever lost out in the wild and need a fire, go to your local ikea store and get these items

  • Good skills!

  • Geeze...what a waste of IKEA goods. Fine if he was going to use only 2-3 pieces but that was a waste of money. Blegh.

Making fire with LEGOs...show us THAT one.

  • in case ikea runs out of lighters :)

  • Brilliant!

  • Could he not just use a lighter?

  • @ScabbyHole99 That defeats the whole point.

  • @ScabbyHole99

hes showing how to make a fire using certain materials :U incase ikea becomes the only source of supplies when the world goes a-wall

  • bear grills did this in wild conditions in sahara, all can do the same thing without buying all these things, just improvised things
