I loved that they brought Babylon back to life in the final scene, even if it was a sort of make believe. That club was a almost a caracter in itself on the show, and didn't deserve to be left in ruins. Brian dancing by himself in that gorgeous sleeveless shirt was a nice touch, too. :)

I don't know why so many people say they hate Michael. Christ, he is long over Brian. He's married, for God's sake. Michael is an amazing friend. Funny thing I've noticed: season 5 is exactly alike season 1. Same things happen, only some on them to the different characters. So, if you remember, season 1 B went to Miami White Party without J, and while dancing there he caught a wedding bouquet and the last thing we see is a blonde transvestite dressed as a bride. And what a coincidence - the green disco lights are exactly similar to the ones in Babylon during the final scene of 513. Handwriters are playing tricks on us...

Hmm, am I the only one interprets the ending of this show differently and not heartbroken at all? Sure, I understand that people are pissed that Justin isn't at the final Babylon scene, but y'know, in a realistic sense, that doesn't really mean anything. The ending lacks something. If you really look at Brian, his eyes are empty. Being young and beautiful and sexy doesn't matter unless he's got Justin there with him.

I think it speaks volumes at the fact that Brian continued to act so unlike himself after Justin left. Justin gradually became so a part of Brian that when he finally surrendered to their love he didnt want anything other than to be with Justin. That's why he kept the rings. Time and distance won't erase their love, but life goes on and we survive. Regardless, what they had was something beautiful and special. I truly believe someday theyd be together. Nothing could keep them apart for too long.

I do agree with you on the open-ended nature being truer to reality, but it made me very sad still. The worst thing about this whole ending is Brian's expression - this brokenness that quickly sets in after Gus leaves, that precipitates Justin's eventual departure. And I feel Brian is the ferocious energy of this show, and it makes me very sad to have Britin unfulfilled.But at least it ends on Brian's terms - and I still have hope because he hasn't lost himself.

Lesbians back together, Hunter comes home, etc. The ending basically implies that life has come full circle-Brian is still the party boy, but the thing is he isn't. He may not be Stepford Fag material, but he isn't this anymore either. I can live with Brian and Justin not married, but I feel that their relationship can't/shouldn't just end since he's going to NYC, and Cowlip should have shown us that it didn't.
