With a "C" or a "K", "German" or "Australian" in their names. They are still an awesome dog, whether they are farming, agility, obedience, pets as therapy or a companion. And I love my blue merle boy.
Oh wow! What happy (and obviously good natured) Coolies you have!!!!!!
We live on a property and have some Coolies. Us and all the other farmers we know call our dogs 'German Coolies'. Most of the other farmers have had and bred their Coolies for many years. I see on some of the other videos they call them 'K'oolies' and/or Áustralian???????
Koolies are also referred to as 'German Koolies', although this name should be avoided because the breed originated in Australia. Its development in Australia is associated with early German and other European immigrant farmers.
Yes, have read this" copied and pasted comment" from Don Burke's fact sheet and quite frankly, I don't avoid anything I call my German Coolies (as long as it's something nice.....LOL)
@11deesmith I've been searching everywhere but can't find anything written that says German Coolies definitely originated in Australia??? What I did find was that German Coolies are sometimes referred to as Koolies which was started by a group of people who formed a Coolie club and decided to drop the "German"and change the "C"to a "K". OK for some of the younger ones I suppose but some of us farmers have had German Coolies in our families for generations so we stick with the history ;-)
@Janeway1269 Don't really know. Guess it's just their particular experience with different breeds. Some of them will tell you that Border Collies are better workers :-D

We live in sheep growing area and most of the farmer's dogs around here are Kelpies, then German Coolies.
We don't have Kelpies. Some of them say the German Coolies are better workers! ;-)))))))
