  • The only thing about this rifle that I don't like is that the reciever is made in Brazil.

  • An M-14 with a pistol grip and a 30 round magazine would kick the AK's ass.

  • Does the standard have a chrome-line barrel

  • @TheDoviverse Don't think so - haven't read that in the SA specs.

  • Some old m14s all fresh from the box that were never used are coming over from Korea (or vietnam I forget) so if looking at 14s, prices should drop maybe around spring/summer time.

  • @OmegaAlpha6 Are you thinking of the M1 Garands from S. Korea that the state dept blocked from being brought back to the US? I don't think full auto capable M14s would be sold to the public, were the older Garands would be sold through the CMP.

The white house/state dept does not want even old Garands to go to collectors or sold through CMP programs. So I can't see how they would allow M14s to do so.

  • @OmegaAlpha6 I researched this again and saw updates were the WH reversed it's earlier decision and is now is willing to allow the M1 Garands back in. However the M1 Carbines are still not approved to be re-imported. Not final, but the WH seems to want the Garands to go only to veterans of the Korean War. I guess CMP would handle sales if they do indeed come back to the US. In an election year who knows what they will do. Perhaps another reversal if obama wins reelection - to keep them out.

  • @nashi55 I meant to say Korean War vetereans or their families.

  • Hello Nash: I recently placed a deposit on an M-14 with a composite stock, I was fascinated to see this option and wonder if you or anyone are familiar with them, I will take ownership as soon as my permit is updated since I had a change of address, and chomping at the bit to go to the range with "Her", thank you for an excellently narrated video and I will save as favorite.

Safe and fun shooting- George USMC

  • @juanmooreknight Yes I have seen them as well. Should be a great shooter - less worries with that tough stock! I'm sure you'll enjoy it! Glad you liked the vid - hope it helped provide some basic info. Thanks for your service!

  • man is she pretty.. But MAN IS SHE EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!

  • my grandad said he used the M14 during Vietnam, and said he fell in love with it, until they switched to the m16 which they all hated. A few years ago my dad bought an M1A and gave it to my grandad as a present and he still talks about how powerful and heavy the gun was to this day. Love going out to the range with it.

  • i want their scout rifle so badly

  • beautiful gun...im jealous =]

  • Went to Shyda's Gun Shop today, good pricing and lots of shotguns, but anyway they had one of these. Well it looked nice until I saw the plastic barrel cover. Little disappointed but whatever

  • Very fine rifle, friend. Thanks for sharing.

  • wheres the bayonet stud ?

  • Great rifle to fire but a bit heavy in weight and on the walle

  • For anyone looking to buy one of these...I just bought a National Match from a store, mainly because it was the first and only one I have seen in Georgia. I just got through shooting it for the first time today. First time I've ever shot an M1A period! I've never driven a Bentley either, but I imagine it would drive like the M1A shoots. It exceeded my highest expectations. The recoil was PERFECT and the action was very silky.

  • Beautiful firearm, which I had one in the sniper configurment.

  • Im pretty sure some seal teams still carry them as a sniper rifle

  • cost???

  • @johnwakefield96 Depends on where you get it, somewhere btwn $1400-$1800. I got this price from impactguns

  • the metal piece that opens out looks like you could use it so that the rifle couldnt slip down when you are firing in the prone postion

  • I like this because it is like an M-14 ^^

  • i like how the M-16 was based of the M-!4!! But I'd rather have the M-16 because where your hand goes is the pivoting point wich makes you come off target after the recoil.

  • @mathew1929 The m16 wasn't based on the m14. The m14 was based off the Garand though.

  • Hi nashi, i went to the fort worth gun show and saw many different Springfield m1a's and there was a lighter colored walnut stock and was looked very nice. And im having trouble finding it cause i dont particulary know what the description of the stock was called. Maybe you can help?

  • @MrBlackchevy11 Mine are just walnut, but the colors vary some. Was it a factory stock or a replacement?

  • @Linguistics2201 I am from Croatia, and i'm curious, since in movies and also i heard from other peoples that is very easy to buy a rifle in America, also i heard that by Constitution Of United States of America every citizen have right to own a gun.

  • the m-14 m1a has been dusted off and used in iraq quite alot. and aphgan war too. its just a good rifle. and good rifles never go away. they just get packed in cosmoline.

  • i want one so bad. Love the look, the history, and .308 round.

  • On your next M1-A video could you include the proper way to grease and lubricate the bolt roller cam. They can cause issues with the operation of the weapon if they are not properly lubricated. Thanks

  • @billt460 I can put it on the list. Not much time for new vids in the last few months.

  • if its ok to ask how much did yours cost?

  • Is this the rifle that I see in military videos with a scope on it? If the military is still using it in the year 2011, I would think that if a person had to have ONE weapon for all needs...this would be it. Yes? It has accuracy, undeniable stopping power, durable and easy to reload. What is it missing, anything? It is big and bulky I suppose. It probably feels like a lead weight if you have to sling it for any distance at all. Is it easy to find ammo for it?

  • @JetMechMA The M1A fires .308 Winchester/ 7.62 NATO. Most gun stores should have some kind (varying companies and bullet weights) of .308 ammo available for purchase, atleast if you live in the US.

  • @JetMechMA It has plenty of flaws. Longer and heavier then needed. Heavy ammo/magazines. No reliable 30 round magazines, only 20 rounds. Excessive recoil for an infantry rifle. Gas piston cannot be removed for cleaning without two tools. Harder to mount optics then other rifles, stripper clip guide in the way. Safety is located in a dumb place, the trigger. Very expensive to produce. Poor fully automatic performance. I have used the M1A.

  • @esh325 Gee thanks. Looks like you were very thorough and to the point. Thanks again.

  • @JetMechMA But even despite these flaws, it still serves very admirbly today as a sniping weapon. Alternatives to replace it have proven to be failures like the M110. "The US Army has issued a request to the private sector to reconfigure or replace the current Knight Armament M110 sniper rifle as the current version of the M110 is not functioning well in the field requiring significant maintenance and replacement of parts.[4]"

  • Very nice. I bought one with a fairly worn stock recently and I'm considering a synthetic replacement, though I don't like the look as much. In any case, it's long been something I wanted to add to my collection and I'm glad to finally have one, which looks just like the one in your vid.

  • I really wish these weren't so expensive because I'd love to be one of the few, perhaps the only junior shooting it in Highpower competition. I love the old school look of the Garand combined with the modern detachable magazine. I concur about the 168gr bullets. Most M1A competitors I know use the Hornady 168 AMAX.

  • Any problems firing 180 grain rounds?

  • what is the difference between the military and civilian version, is it one of durability?

  • @possesedostrich The military version was fully automatic.

  • you know there were some m14s that doesn't have the selector switch.

  • I've owned a Springfield Armory M1a in the past, but I have never seen one with a gas adjustment on it. Do you know when they started putting that on these rifles?

  • Hey i need someone to answer from U.S.A

I heard you can buy guns there like easy as chocolate,go to store, show ID and you can buy it,is it that simple or there is more to do? Here you need to wait for papers, more papers..and than you can go and buy gun.

  • @KRAUSER0130 Your channel says you're from the United States, so I'm confused as to why you would ask this question.

  • @nashi55 To be honest i made account few years ago,i wasnt even looking for which country it was set to,i just wanted to make it done,in a rush(wasnt paying attention to details).. And by the way i am from Europe(Croatia if it means something),and in our country we can cannot own fully automatic rifles, only semi-auto,pistols and shotguns(double-barrels ones and semi-auto pump guns) and procedure to get one is quite long.

  • @KRAUSER0130 Don't want to bother you again, but I thought it was worth pointing out that it's extremely difficult to acquire fully automatic firearms. You need a special licence, which differs from state to state. If you are a firearms dealer, you are qualified to own them. It is a hard licence to get, and from what I hear it's quite pricey. So 99.9% of Americans can only have semi autos, bolt actions, shotguns, and handguns.

  • @ASwiftHippie And how about ammo? I heard you can buy it in supermarkets(which is very strange here and unusual) like Walmart or whatever is it called

  • @KRAUSER0130 Yes, you can buy it in the sporting goods section of wal-mart. Ammo is really expensive these days, though. Mostly because our president is so against civilians owning firearms. Even though it has been proven on several occasions that violent crime is lower in areas where concealed carry is allowed. Because criminals are a lot less likely to rob someone that they think may be carrying a firearm. Obama chooses to ignore the many statistics regaring the benefits of gun ownership.

  • @KRAUSER0130 It depends on which state you live in, I live in the state of Pennsylvania which is one of the easiest places to purchase guns. In my state, all you have to do is go to any weapon dealer, show them your ID, they then do a on the site background check which only takes a couple of minutes, fill out some paperwork, and you are done. But if you live in California it is much more complicated, they have to wait 10 days from the day they purchased their gun until they can pick it up.

  • @xXUSMCGRIFFXx Ok thank You i appreciate your help.

  • @KRAUSER0130 It's not that simple, sir.

Used to be, but not anymore. you have to wait 30 days for a criminal background check as well as get your weapon registered with the dept. of alcohol, tobacco, and firearms (ATF). After that, it's yours.

  • @DeadSilent120 OK Thank you all.

  • @KRAUSER0130 you're quite welcome.

  • @KRAUSER0130 i thing you can buy guns that easy in texas but i live in new Jersey and i have to keep waiting for papers

  • @bnmhr so if i understood, you can own almost everything except full auto guns(like m16,m249...) and things like grenade launchers and so on? and how about automatic pistols? like glock,or uzi's

  • @KRAUSER0130 It depends on the state you live in. Mostly, if you have no felonies, domestic violence, stalking, or mental issues you can buy one after filling out a federal background check (takes about 15 minutes). some states like California have a waiting period (usually 7 days).

  • Does the M1A have a chrome-lined barrel?

  • @AnimeFanatic5602 I don't believe so, but could be wrong. Don't remember seeing anything about it on their web site.

  • I carried the M14 many a mile and fired thousands of rounds thru the 4 differnat ones I was issured. (not one problem I may add) The US Govermant still has hundreds of thousands of these in storage. The M1A is 99.9% the same as the M14. They are expensive, but worth it, because they are the best, period!!!!!!!!!!!!! China did make a clone of the M14, but just not up to USA standards...wore out fast and no G.I parts would fit, junk really. If you see a Chinese M14 for sale, pass on it.

  • 14 people miss the like button and clict the dislike button

  • Should have gotten this instead of my AR

  • @iLoveMyGun89 Get both :) Past and present.

  • why the hell are they so damn expensive???? I would have bought one by now if I could afford one.

    I love my AR15, but I would LOVE a M1A.. lol.

  • I had a camo M1a standard and sold it to make a mortgage payment.I have money again and I'm looking for a Socom 16 because I loved the standard but I thought if it was a little shorter it would be better for what I use it for.I'll give everyone a review if I pick one up.

  • Nice vid, thanks

  • they were still in use during the 60's and 70's with the Marines. Not Army.

  • @fms661 Actually, I think they're still in service over in afghanistan and iraq

  • @chillichomper That is correct, 1 per squad for the designated marksman.

  • @rstawarz111 Yes the history of the rifle could have been better. Didn't want to make the vid longer, so it was very brief. I referred to the historical information I had read at that time. I would do it differently today, since I have read more about them.

Thank you for serving this great country.

  • @rstawarz111 Spoke with SA and they told me it's designed for 308 but candle handle 7.62 also. No reloads or steel cased ammo though. 168 gr is most accurate but it can handle a range of bullet weights.

  • @nashi55 - Rifles designed for 308 can easily handle 7.62nato, but 7.62nato guns may NOT be able to handle 308s....308s have much more pressure. M1As are designed for .308.

  • @dadoody I still read conflicting stuff on this, so that's why i mentioned the ammo info SA gave me. I would consult the manufacturer before making an assumption to be on the safe side. I don't know enough about the specifics to be comfortable with interchanging the ammo.

  • i own an m14s by springfield and i love it, the open sights are great but with a scope this gun is tough

  • FINALLY...FUCK, found a video thats actually useful, every fucking time i search for a gun, that "cod" shit pops up.

  • word on streets says it will have problems if you shoot .308's out of them (apparently a light primer issue, might slam fire) Any insight my friend? Really looking into this rifle. Beautiful, Im so jealous. Lol Great vid

  • @Boogiethrash I spoke with springfield armory about the ammo and their word was: it's designed for 308, but can also shoot 7.62. 168 gr is most accurate. But don't use reloads or steel cases.

  • @Boogiethrash hey man get one. i lucked out and found an actual m14 for a 1000 dollars it took 7 years to find it though lol but they are fun to shoot and accurate as well, most people don't want to get rid of them when they do have one and you can reload for them its just that springfield won't honor a warranty on the newer guns if reloads were used during the warranty period and nashi55 thanks for the video its great

  • word on streets says it will have problems if yous hoot .308's out of them (apparently a light primer issue, might slam fire) Any insight my friend? Really looking into this rifle. Beautiful, Im so jealous. Lol Great vid

  • My brother swears by his Colt HBAR but I absolutely love my M1A.I think this rifle is better than his gun in every single aspect.Action, durability, accuracy, knock down, avail. of accessories, etc.Maybe I'm just a .308 guy.I don't like the .223 round. It's too much like shooting my .22.

  • I saw one of these selling for $799 at a Big 5 in california

  • @ThaGVPSon what you saw was probably a mini 14 made by Ruger

  • the cost guard gets them to if I'm not mistaken

  • does the civallian model mean it cant go on full automatic?

  • @callerofmusic Yes - semi auto only.

  • @callerofmusic You don't want a fully automatic M14. Why? The first two rounds may be on target, but by round 4 or 5 you're going to have an Anti-Aircraft weapon.

  • @Badmusicpeoplelove yea i know the kick is rough but dnt u think it be nice if it were that authentic to the model used in early veitnam?

  • that wood looks sexy as fuck, pun intended.

and we can get a flash hider but we need to have that fucking stupid ass bullet button, this state is such a pain in the ass!!

  • that wood looks sexy as fuck, pun intended.

  • @SpiritofAdventure22 Can't - don't remember shooting one of those!! :) Really it is not bad at all - much less than a 12 ga 3" SS!!!!

  • How is this different from the original M14 (other than the .308)

  • @kop4321 The biggest is semi-auto only, but I'm sure there are other items. The military has higher standards for material quality from what I have read.

  • @nashi55 Looked into it, and the Mil spec versions have looser tolerances. Due to more rounds fired between cleaning in the military.

  • This gun is so badass..

BTW, how much did yours cost?

  • @redshark618 They're about $1500 or so now.

  • @nashi55 lol. their msrb is more like 2500 now.

  • @Lonewolf6565 I've seen them on gunbroker for about $1500-1750, so that's what I'm going by.

  • @nashi55 for a used one. msrb for new ones is over 2500 for even the basic one. Street for them is still over 2k.

  • @Lonewolf6565 No - not for a used one. You can buy them RIGHT NOW new in the box on gunbroker for $1500-1600. Check it out, register and buy one. DId you look at this web site?????

There are the standards, scouts, & loaded models etc. Prices vary some based on stocks etc, but the standard models NIB are $1500-1600. Don't worry about the msrp....it means nothing.

  • @nashi55 dude m14s arnet being produced any more there refirbushed,....

  • @39ctg Agreed - M14s aren't being produced now. I was discussing current pricing of NIB M1As....

Guess I'm not sure which comment you're responding too....?

  • @nashi55 why are they so expensive?

  • @dasdew2 Bigger round and detachable magazine. And I think a magazine containing more than 10 rounds is considered "high capacity". They're also in fairly high demand.

  • @SinginShooter you can leave the mag in and use 10 round stripper clips, also you might have a problem with the mag so have a spare.I love the ghost ring sights and mag but what i really love is that it look like a regular rifle yet shoot like a war gun,if it wasn't for the price.

  • man i wish i lived in america :(

  • @Razorback611 THIS IS NOT A CARBINE STUPID !!!! The M1A shoots .308 which is also a .30 cal !

  • Good review. I find mine is partial to mangling brass. Let's just say it's tough on brass. Interior workmanship is rough and not as refined as an old Garand, but it works very well. Those are the only complaints I've had about mine.

  • @nashi55 7.62x54r thats russian 30-06 is 7.62x61

  • @alex124485 I corrected it and deleted my previous comment . Don't know why I typed 7.62x54......

Thanks for letting me know it was wrong.

  • Did they use these guns in WWII? i have an m1 but its not a garand, i think it could be an m1 carbine. Can some one help me out?

  • @enriqueg96 Do some searching on the internet for pics of the m1 carbine and compare them to what you have. The carbine is shorter than a garand and has the detachable magazine. It does shoot the smaller 30 carbine rd, not as long as the then current 30-06 rd or the later 7.62x51 ammo used by the m14.

  • @enriqueg96 As the man said, the M1A is the civilian version of the M-14. that means No they didnt have this particular weaon in WW2 because the M-14 didnt come out until 1957.

  • @nashi55 30-06 seems like over kill in most situations,HORSE OF A ROUND.

  • @dempsey981 Yes it is!

  • got a 1944 inland m1 carbine all matching # very nice find i got it a few years back at a gun show these guns no doubt go up in value

  • When you said home defence i chuckled a little, the 308 would probably go through the intruder the rest of your house your neighbors house and im sure some other stuff lol, thats a beautiful rifle you got there, id probably get the bipod and a scope and use it for long range shooting

  • @mark16443 Some guys prefer rifles, so that's why I mentioned it. Not the best choice to me for that reason.

  • One of my favorite rifles ever (after the TAR-21). I can't wait untill I can afford one. Does anyone know anything about the SOCOM version? I like the walnut Standard and Scout Squad, but that SOCOM version is killer. It has a much shorter barrel (16 in.), and I am wondering it that would affect the range too much.

  • Whats the best way to clean out the bore?

  • Beautiful rifle. If only I had 1600 dollars to get one setup

  • Low maintance, solid weapon. 308 you can find that ammo all over the world. Hunt effectively with it.

  • the garand was in .30-06 and .308

  • was the garand a 30.06 caliber as compared to this.308?

  • @dempsey981 Let me correct what I said before. The M14 was chambered for the new standard NATO rd of 7.62x51. While the Garand was chambered in 30-06 (or 7.62x63) - not 7.62x54 as I said before. My mistake!

  • I think this is a magnificent rifle, the dorsal part of the weapon looks great.

  • would you recommend this for zombie slaying?

  • @POWND18 Yea, it will blow brains out no problem at all. Just check out full metal jacket and watch private joker.

  • what is the big hole drilled in the side of the stock?

  • I really like your review. For your first. You're loud, we can understand everything you say, (Even with the awesome accent), it was straight to the point, and interesting. Thank you.

  • @AGedgeProduction And no dance or deathmetal music, either,I really hate having to listen to someone over that junk!

  • @Oldbmwr100rs Yeah I hate that too! Espcially when a guy posts a truck or car vid and instead of hearing the engine/exhaust - I hear hip hop music. I hate that...... :(

  • @Oldbmwr100rs Yeah, I know. I hate that.

  • @Oldbmwr100rs Dont fuck with the death metal.

  • @AGedgeProduction What accent??? Well anyway glad you liked it!! I'm trying to convey info that should be helpful to anyone that's just interested in these rifles or looking to purchase one. Not here to try to be rambo or a "tactical expert". I just try to cover the basics well - good light & sound, use a checklist for data, good camera setup, and provide interesting info. Hopefully I'm getting a lttle better each time!

  • @nashi55 haha. I'm from Canada. You have a southern accent I'm guessing. BUT! Anyway, You're review is better than 85% of the major companies out there, like Airsoft GI and others. Once again, thank you, and make more please.

P.S, did you ever use this gun? Was it worth it?

  • @AGedgeProduction Yes, there are several vids of me shooting it. Eh? Yeah it was - nice rifles usually don't go down in value so I can resell it if needed one day after shooting it for years. Eh? That's nice to hear, but no time recently to do more. I will soon! Eh?

Hope the ehs help you understand my accent. :) eh?

  • @nashi55 Well, I'm Canadian... So..... Lol.

  • @AGedgeProduction Glad to hear our Northern Neighbors have a sense of humor too! eh?

  • @nashi55 Yee. Lol. I went out and bought the M1A1 Thompson, Round Drum mag from Canadian Tire (Basically, another version of Wal Mart, but Canadian only). $134 on sale. Was $215 regular. Works like a beauty. I put my DPMS Panther M-4 battery in it, fires 3 times as fast. But it's bearable on the fuse. So it's all good... :D

  • @doughesson the parallel is meant to fire blank rounds so that you could launch special grenades :D pretty damn cool

  • Great review

I just bought an M14. It's my first rifle. Do you have a video for stripping/cleaning this rifle & just some general care/maintenace tips?

    Thanks

  • @kaang69 No - it's on the list, but recently no time to do more vids. I have others I want to do too!

  • @kaang69 Just type in on youtube the m14 rifle the vid is by warstories and it's an Army video explaining all you'll need to know about it's operation and stripping it.

  • lol i don't have the standard walnut for my m14 i have the polymer black finish stock XD it's pretty cool

  • My rifle apart, its trash i'm getting rid of it real damn soon

  • @skindresser When I bought mine in June 2001,I had to wait three days(Damn you Frank Laughtenberg!) but Kentucky had to give it to me if they couldn't find a disqualification in that time. When I came back to get it,the salesman told me that he'd sold 4 more rifles just because mine was laying out on the counter & folks wanted to get that one, despite the "Sold" tag on it.

  • The gas valve has only two settings:On or Off.You have it perpendicular to the bore(Up & down for those in Rio Linda) to operate the rifle semiautomatically and if you have it horizontal, you have to pull back on the operating rod handle to eject the fired round and strip a fresh round from the magazine. It didn't "regulate" the gas pressure.

  • @doughesson Yes you're right - I should have been clearer on that point. I may add a notation to the vid.

  • I don't know if you guys know this or not but... i really, really want one of these

  • i just found my new zombie killing weapon

  • That stock is amazing. What a pretty rifle

  • did you need a permit for your M14???

  • i have a 1962 M14 im doing a review on it not even out of the box

  • good lord, that is such a gorgeous weapon, some one call the boner police and haul me away!

  • The .308 is the NATO 7.62X51, which makes it 7.62 no matter what you're shooting through it

  • How did they carry 150 rounds? 150 isn't divisible by 20... I'm confused.

  • @ImWatchinTheTube Don't forget about the 5 rd stripper clips. I have read that's how the Army wanted soldiers to reload the M14, instead of the full mags. Seems they were worried they would waste ammo.

  • @nashi55 Yes, that sounds so very Army like. Makes much more sense now, thank you.

  • @ImWatchinTheTube I wouldn't know about the Army.I was Navy & the farthest I ever humped an M14,web gear with 5 magazines and 3 bandoliers PLUS a couple belts of M60 ammo in my role as M60 A-gunner was from the small arms locker to the 0-5 level where we covered the pier in case someone attacked the ship. Not like we had to go over hill and over dale as we hit the dusty trails with the caissons.

  • can you put the ebr kit on the M1a

  • @ImWatchinTheTube Three 60 round bandoliers would be 180 rounds.Plus the five magazines carried in the web gear or in the magazine well adds 100 rounds to the weight. You just have to be in shape to carry all that gear plus your own food, sleeping gear & whatever else you wanted along on the patrol.

  • i hate california gun laws. there bullshit
